I've always kinda thought that about black holes. Like maybe as our Universe takes in a deep breath the other universe(s) contract, and likewize.

My understanding is "space" as we know it (which is really just all the matter contained in all the stars) has been expanding outward at rapid rates since the "big bang" like, what, 35 billion years ? ago. There's also the idea that all the particles within all matter is expanding, so we're basically expanding as we hang out and burn one (well, our lungs are anyway ;) ), but we don't perceive it, 'cause all the rest of the shit around us is expanding at the same rate, like the rest of the universe.

The thing that gets me is there's the vacuum, the absense of matter between the atmospheres of all the planets and bodies of mass, so the vacuum probably extends from the last planet of the last star of the last galaxy ad infinitum...

I think the number is more like 13-15 billion years ago at the moment.

Science is crazy. i never thought about how proportions of everything are all expanding (even our rulers) as well.

    got one lol
what if our "universe" ,is something as small as an electron im talking subatomic, in another "universe" which is a subatomic particle in another "universe" where people are wondering these same questions, and these "universi?" keep going on infinitely just like that. wat if every electron in an atom is a seperate "universe" and every proton in an atom is a seperate "universe" and every neutron in an atom is a "universe", take all the atoms in the world times the number of subatomic particles in each and think of how many "universi?" that would be just on our one little tiny ass planet then think of our planet in comparison with our whole "universe" just being something subatomic lol think of one atom in comparison to our whole "universe" then think of a subatomic particle in comarison to our "universe" then think of that subatomic paricle as another "universe" and think of a planet inside that "universe" in comparison to our "universe" lol

yea this prolly made no sense but idk :p the few who get it will prolly be like wtf this guys retarded lol

I think space is somewhat infinate, but not just an open place continuing forever. I think its more infinate parts, connected by nothingness i guess. I imagine space does change states somewhere down the line though.

Ants might think the world is infinate space, only because they'll never personaly see whats on the other side.

    This almost delves into philosophy.
I propose that the 'thing'... 'space'
that which is required for matter to exist.
    Is a function of matter.
You cant have space without matter.
You cant have matter without space.

Space is a 'Thing in itself'
    As is matter.

    analogy
    matter is the fish
    space is the water.

WE just cant 'percieve' the water.

AND as einstien has shown us.
    Space is warped by matter.
The 2d ball on a rubber mat translated into 3d.
Gravitational lensing is a thing we can see.
    space IS warped by matter.
It thus then is a thing. Not nothing
Or it could not be influenced by anything.

AS to what exists outside of the space matter 'creates'
Nothing?...it bends my mind sideways. Occam has NO idea
Hard to fit in the head yah.?

Hope to hear from you soon..

Space is the most boring places in the universe. There are dead planets, huge blackholes and quasers, floating debri from past Naza missions and endless stars. the most interesting place is infact, Earth. Like a perfect gem, a nightclub at the near centre of the universe. A haven of life and party animals. Food aplenty. Any alien might someday consider going to Earth on a Friday night. Is Space infinite, NO. Space is a reflection upon itself. You will end up back where you started due to gravitys forces.

I guess someone should throw a rock in space, wait for googleplex years and see if it hits them in the back of the head. This would also mean the the universe we see would be symetrical, or something.

Theres just to much weird shit in space to say earth is not just some random pile of dibree that just happened to spark meaningless life forms.

Not only does God play dice, but ... he sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen. Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking has gone further than most in developing theories that make sense of current data.

Space (or more correctly space-time) is a 4+ dimensional expanding sphere. Whatever it is expanding into is not in the 3 dimensions that our minds are capable of imagining.

A 3 dimensional sphere.. the 4th dimension is the process of expanding.
    who said dimensions are static?
    Our universe is plastic..
The Idiots that say 'it is written' are just that. idiots.
