economics are fundamentally flawed. they are designed in such a way as to funnel money (credit) upwards to the people in charge of the banks, the men behind the scenes, the puppetmasters Pressed Rat hates so passionately and tries to warn us against.

with the downfall of the US economy, a lot of the world will surely be affected. but how disastrous will it really be? I believe it will not be much more than a dent in the polish. the real downfall will come once oil is obsolete, and hopefully that will bring forth a change in worldwide economics, and with a bit of luck, spawn a new economical system that is fair to the many, not the elitist few.

but this thread isn't about economics! it's about the United States of America! and yes, KC, you are right. while a lot of your culture is dirty and tainted, and you have cruelly inflicted upon us filth like Britney Spears, MTV and Lord of the Rings, you also have brilliant minds who've created masterpieces like Dexter, Entourage, the Wire, the Simpsons, etc, and I for one am ever grateful (especially to HBO and Showtime. seriously, those guys rock.)

I can't understand why people would think the Middle East needs to be "reformed," or that it's even America's right or duty to reform anything outside of our own country, when people cannot even realize the system they're living under here.

The idea that we're free and they're enslaved kind of baffles me. Yeah, we are free alright... free to do as we're told.

Yeah, the best way of peacefully beating the Arabs is a gradual transformation to alternative energy sources.

I'm a firm supporter of nuclear/ solar/ wind/ hydro energy. Lots of hippies talk shit about nuclear energy, yet it seems to work great in Europe, and even in some parts of America.

Well I live there, in the middle east.
And as far as I see it, the whole place basically needs reforming from the top government level until you reach the bottom of each society that lives there.
And you are right, its not America's right nor duty to reform anything..The people have to do it themselves.
