All you have proven is that the word God exists, says nothing about the existence of the deity/deities... Words don't necessarily dictate existence. Snazzlebushklecan, can you please find me one of those? How about an animal with an anteater face, fish gills, a Cat's tail and a human torso?
Oh, there must be one. Or more. And they have sooooo much fun with our lives. I mean, who can't get behind world wars? Who can't appreciate millions and millions starving amid plenty? Tremendously fun tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, fires and such? This joint is like an arcade to him/her/ it/ them. All and all, we're taken care of pretty well, wouldn't you say? Just don't forget to duck.
I ain't no damn ancient greek. Ahhh--just jackin' around. I feel and observe so, so much strife and pain around the world that if there was a creator--why wouldn't this be a paradise for all ,straight out of the "gate?" " There' no call whatsoever for babies to get crushed or burned or buried before they even get a chance to make up their minds about whether there is a creator or not.
And I'm not saying people are foolish for believing. That's not my job. And I don't NEED to be right in my opinions. Opinions are all they are. They mean nothing.
Don't really see the logic in holding the gods responsible for everything we experience (especially if we realize there is no good to be aware of without never experiencing bad), or conclude there can't be any god just because there is pain in the world. That deduction does not work in my mind.
Ok, this has been driving me nuts! It's either "Does God Exist?" singular or "Do Gods Exist?" plural So what exactly is your question, OP? anyway, I already gave the proof that God exists and is good.....BACON.:drool5:
To post 66. Well, that's why it's good to have free speech and disagreement. And I don't hold anything responsible for the condition of earth. It's hard to remain agnostic, which I was/ have been for most of my life. I harbor no illusions regarding my knowledge of the state of or the reasons for existence. Many people need and many people want to believe the existence of something that is responsible for our being. May be right. Hard for me to get past my observations and life experiences of humanity as a whole, as regards a benevolent being.
Many theists posit an all-loving God so then the examples of pain and strife is proof that that God is not all-loving and therefore that God does not exist. However, there can certainly be a slippery slope using that same example to conclude that no kind of God exists but I think scratcho is relying more on observations and experience rather than that specific example.
God personified, you mean. Again, Christ was Word in the flesh (God personified). You can disbelieve that (or just not understand it) but your disbelief (or lack of understanding) doesn't mean it isn't real or isn't true. Snazzlebushklecan seems like your own personal creation. Congratulations! I think Snazzlebushklecan means "something that exists in somebody's head which is meant to ridicule God, and is wishful thinking that this example of mockery is proof that God doesn't exist except for inside of people's heads, therefore God is a Snazzlebushklecan". And of course, Snazzlebushklecan is the cousin of the flying spaghetti monster. Aspects and depictions .. since a creature or being is LIKE a fish or cat .. so their image is depicted with those properties. Sort of like MindControlledShepple's signature pic of two females with dog-like faces. What does that picture communicate? Is it telling some sort of "truth" about those females? Maybe, maybe not. ARE people really wolves, snakes and sheep? Or LIKE those animals? Image and likeness .. how Biblical and religious.
Yes, but that is all requisite upon a very narrow and anthropomorphic consideration of "God". The entire quantification of good or suffering is a human quantification. In most respects the concept of God as is commonly seen is an entity that is beyond anything of this universe, yet wholly and completely involved in it. I really don't understand why people get so hung up and bogged down because certain things do not fall within our HUMAN criteria of what God is and does. What other means or criteria are we to use in describing or relating to any foreign or abstract concept but what is already familiar. Man has done the same with the concept of God and have ascribed very human emotions and intentions to things we experience as being "of God". As such we are more often than not disappointed not by God's actual shortcomings or actions, but rather because said things do not conform to our anthropomorphic conception of what a "good God" should be and do. It really is hysterical when you think about it. We get mad because God doesn't behave the way we think God should.
So does that actually exist? If your answer is no then the only thing that the Snazzlebushklecan example is meant to ridicule is the inconsistency in your inept argument. The actions of people who hold particular attributes of God(s) throughout history and even still presently in some places have been used to justify atrocious acts against others. This is one of the reasons why an agnostic, atheist or even someone of a different religion may have a vested interest in the supposed attributes posited by theists of any given religion or depiction of God. You're right about the rest of it though it is simply just just human criteria about God, which would make following any human written text about it is silly and hysterical.
Of course Snazzlebushkecan exists. You're the creator (unless you stole it from somebody else). Will you craft it out of clay, dress it in felt and glitter? Sell it in a specialty shop. We used to have Monkey Comics in my neighborhood but they went out of business. My memory bank is being robbed, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwpvBTb_mm0"]Temple of the Dog - Wooden Jesus w/ Lyrics - YouTube There's no inconsistency in what I communicated and I don't have an "argument". I'm not arguing. Random Thought: girl wonders of the value in honesty, maturity and respect .. or in cases about the lack thereof .. why. why, why, why, why, why... And I wonder some more: cruel to be kind (in the right measure)? Heh, only if you're a believer.
The information, reasons that you provided to attempt to prove God's existence is an argument. Here is a definition of the type of argument I am referring too...
I don't fit in that box because I'm so far outside of it that nobody can see me, lmao Oh, but to be sure .. it is no argument by any definition. Go back and reread what I wrote: Of all that can ever be said about God ... 1. God is an endless conversation 2. word
All rise .. court is now in session (joking). Somebody asked a question and I answered it. You can call it an argument if you want to or must .. to me it's as simple as Q & A .. basic facts. I blame the edit button. It's a compulsion to use it, just because it exists. edit for fun: this is my 999th post. The post ID# is 7977099 which is post #78 on the 8th page, posted on 4/5 at 7:37PM site time .. 8:37PM my real time.
I found God, that's why I'm atheist... I found the only logical God(s) that can and do exist. The collective superego subconscious Gods that exist inside the minds of their theistic and religious zombie hosts.
yep this - religions are created by people pretty much to control others and as a welfare program for the priest class. Plus I have never seen anyone create a "god" more mature than a two year old.
