God to me is a Christian word describing a Christian deity which is an all powerful (whatever that's suposed to mean,) old man in the sky. So when asked if God exists I say no. Does that mean I believe in nothing? Of course not. So what DO I believe in? Life. So did life just happen by accident? Life comes about the way it does because that's it's nature. Living things are a lot like machines in some ways, so people believe in a creator like machines have. What they fail to understand is that living things are not assembled like machines are. They aren't what they are because of something else making them that way. Why are living things machinelike? Because life is machinelike. That's it's nature. But humans have minds that have to see everything in RELATIVE TERMS. We try to find out what everything is made of, but it's a never ending quest because however small we imagine the building blocks of existence to be, those building blocks, to our relative way of thinking must be made of something and those must be made of something and so forth etc. So it's the inability to conceive of what is absolute and the need to understand things in relative terms that causes humans to come up with the idea of superbeings that created them. But then there is the same problem. If we can only be here because of a creator, then by the same logic of relativism, that creator must have a creator and a creator of the creator must have a creator and so on. So we must either believe in an infinite succession of creators creating creators, or we must just accept that this machinelike life we see around us is because it's in it's essential nature to be that. Why? There is no why. Reasons demand reasons which demand reasons wich...you get the idea. For myself, it's just easier to say it is 'caus it is. I don't have enough asprin to figure it out any other way.[IMG]

He is in everything and in everyone.. And He loves us no matter how bad we are and how we destroy all the beauty of Creation.. We should be grateful and dance and sing to Him.. coz He died for us to be happy

I think it seems a lot of people see the godthing far too narrow. Unless this thread is only about the bibical God. Then I can quite relate to posts like the two above me.

something big, friendly and invisible hugs me back when i hug it. as do a lot of little friendly and invisible somethings. if someone thinks that's god or not god is not my problem. neither are at war with each other or anything else.

as for infallable or created anything, i really don't know anything about that either.

if someone else does, well good for them, but mostly i think their just pretending to think so.

the one part of it that's real to me, isn't what anyone claims to know, but that i can feel what i can, without having to pretend to know anything about it in order to do so.

The word "God" means something different for everyone posting, so I can only speak for myself. To me, the word God is the christian biblical God who's an allpowerful asshole in the sky. Scarry concept. Glad I don't have to believe in it. Already got an overpowerful asshole in the whitehouse!

Cool....Now what you said..that's called spirituality. But if you go further and say that Jesus died for my sins because the big man upstairs was pissed about me wanking all the time so he made his only son die on a cross to save me from eternity in a lake of fire.....because God just really really hates it when I wank........that's religion. Spirituality I can dig. Religion is darkness.

God can also be seen as Allah (in which case there is no Jesus which died for your sins) or Odin, Ra, Iluvatar, Nature or an entity with no name.

True, but why use christian terms if you are muslim or something else...I call it Tao. Just because you live in a christian culture doesn't mean you have to use christian words.

The Tao doesn't imply a god, does it?

If by "a god" you mean a humanlike superbeing,
no. I guess when I said I use the word Tao I just meant that's the word I use to describe the big picture.....since I don't believe in God (at least by the usual definition).

You know God does care about all of you,,,and I know I am shooting myself in the foot but I usually am anyway so what the hell, you only got two feet ,,,thankGod He grows mine back after I open my mouth.
I know the day will come when we will all know what is what,,,and I `ll be saying "Remember God look into their Hearts,,,all of them " He made all of us and for hitmans38`s saying "For the good and the bad" (still love you guy) I will be whispering in his ear,,,"But YOU made them and you know YOU LOVE THEM ALL"

For every person here on earth, I pray like crazy for everyone even if I don`t know you personally (even you Joker-man. We had a couple of good times thankyou.) We ARE all Gods` children,,,We are SOOO very lucky---He will get to you one day, everyone has their turn, May not be right now but it will happen. Right Fedora ?(SMILIN~) Dreamin` No I haven`t been smoking anything yet,,,tonight.

Jesus is Gods mesenger. Listen to what He said while he lived. Believe in miracles and seek them everyday. Jesus worked amazing miracles, all He said were done in Gods name. How could this be without truth. Strong faith without self interest is the key to finding God. We can all do great works. Just lifting your arm is a miracle of God. Think of what else is possible. The devil tries to make us unbelievers. Don't let him have his way.
