We have a fire going in the garden some evenings, it's nice. But it's getting too cold for it now so I have the fireplace going instead. I love sitting by the fire, feels so cosy.

It is so wonderful to be living out in the woods!

    yeah i do.
i just need to to go far enough into the woodland behind my house, to hide the fire from the asshole who lives down the street from me.

i got an area in the woodlands where when i was a kid, me and the kids next door build a fire pit. when i moved backed to san antonio about 5 years ago, i was walking my dog in the woodlands and, came upon our old fire pit. i use whenever i get the chance.
there are more then enough, fallen trees and tree limbs on the ground to last me for years.

True but it’s the next best thing; second only to setting the dried-out christmas tree ablaze in the snow covered woods [IMG]

We had a campfire going last night. Some of my best memories have been around a campfire.

We often have campfires, and a favorite of mine is to have a gang around the fire picking music and just having a goodtime....;-)

do you guys ever put things in the fire to make them change color like green and blue.

blue you can make by mixing methanol and a lot of the seasoning NoSalt from the grocery store which has potassium chloride/bitartrate.

green you can make by mixing methanol or heet gas line anti-freeze and and boric acid which is a disinfectant and is used in roch bait. you can get it at walmart

other chemicals work and make different colors too

here is a vid that will tell you what to use for different colors

It was a great night to be camping. It was around 36 degrees. The fire was crackling and the river nearby was gurgling along to the sea many miles away.

We have them here whenever we think about it...

We're clearing a new area of ground and setting up a permanent fire pit area near the house that when we're done will be usable year round.

On the idea of colored fires... we've used a couple of the packets you can buy for it and I'll likely play with some other stuff just because its cool... but it does worry me a little about burning these chemicals off in the fire.
