When I got to SF in the summer of '69, some of the first people I lived with were Lower East Side Mothefuckers come west. Specifically, there was a dark haired guy named John and a couple of women. John and some of those folks were studying Mao. They did work for (or were part of) the SF Newsreel Cooperative. John and some of those folks (including me) identified themselves to the promoters of the failed "Wild West Show" as spokespeople for the "Haight Ashbury Commune." In that first set of rooms were some SDS, Motherfuckers, IWWC, WPP, Good Earth, various refugees from the political heat. They were friends of Karen Wald. They were involved in the Venceremos Brigades. Some of this same nucleus of folks began to identify themselves as the "Armed Love Commune." Politics, politics, politics. I grew weary of the rhetoric and the haggling. But they were motivated, intense, dedicated folks, and they were very good to me.

 

Chuck Motherfucker here I was 17 when was hanging out them Lower East Side New York Just found Tom Neuman aka Osha Neuman's book Up Against the wall Motherfuckers sevenstories.com went to Woodstock with them and the Hog Farm in 1969 then out Texas Dallas International pop Festival then Austin Llano N.M. then to Good Earth

Geez I'm havin de'ja view!! Any ways that person lookin for stories,, Artie gave me a damn good recollection. His story alone is a song in it self. Now there's a brother! He had Honor at least and most humbly too. Quick fingered he may have been, but never family would he hurt! Chuck, I picked him up from Vacaville in 2002. I'm a good girl! Artie was kind, even in his older yr's. He did his time, & kept goin back.Couldnt make a yr's parole, I dont know maybe 8-9 times before, alas he passed his last excursion in the "world". Butler was very kind to me,, but he did say "Artie is out, he will run amoke. Then he will go back" I am happy I got to do service for him, cuz deep down,, he had more Heart/ Honor than 1 in a hundred I meet these days. And he was a gentleman,, to a sister,,, I seen alot,, but he was very nice, and I'm glad for the wee bit of time we had in this short life.

That said , do you beleive tellin me to " is the way to hadle your "stfu" gaame here? I started to try to have a conversatoin. Geez S.H. I will have to google (Jerry Jeff ) that, cuz to be honest, me bein from Austin I should know that! But I don't !! When I think of David Peel I think of Tom Rush!! Tommy took 3 songs and made them one. He also taught me a old sailor song that is really filthy,, we sang it together last I saw him. We also taught it to any one who wanted to learn it!! I still do.
