    Acapulco Gold,,haha,,

I saw the Sons of Champlin at the Shrine Auditorium in LA, back in 68. Saw Joplin there too, and the Electric Flag, and Johnny Winter, B.B. King, etc. Love the way there were no seats back then at the Shrine. Great light shows too, and oil projectors, and good mexican smoke.

Went to the Hendrix/Lee Michaels concert in Santa Rosa that year, or the next, I forget. All I remember is that I thought his albums sounded better than him live. He must have been wasted. I know I was.

Biking has always been my life. However, almost every bike I've ever owned has been stolen, or simply lost when I lent it out to someone as a favor.

Hang onto your bikes, or consider them good karma for the giving.

Fuckin A! I love riding my bike...

The state took away my driver's license for getting busted selling pot. So I got a fixed gear road bike. That was about 3 months ago, and I've ridden at least 1000 miles since then. Getting busted was great for my health.

I've been pushing the limit and I'm in great shape. I've been doing a few hundred miles a week.

I bought a carbon fiber frame on ebay and I'm putting together a racing bike for next season.

That's inspiring. I wanta put together another road bike. I did that with a Schwinn that I picked up for 75 bucks out of the Pennysaver ad rag back in the 80s. It was rusted and in shitty condition, but I stripped it down, cleaned it up, added new components and gave it a once-over with kerosene and oil. It was such a great bike. I loved it. I lent it out to a local teen who said he needed quick transportation to get to work one day, and never saw it again. Not the only bike I've lost due to my own generosity.

I love the sound a quality, well kept, well oiled freewheel makes when you're coasting.

I had been trying to register on DirtRag for ages, but have never been able to for some reason or another, seen you over there before--neat that you tracked it and popped in out of nowhere. Nice. Wish I had checked this thread a month ago.

...I can't believe it either, CK. :D Best wishes.

i've been reading about transcontiental bike trails in the u.s. and the mississippi river trail from northern minnesota to the gulf of mexico.i'm thinking about and planning that trip.i don't know if i'll ever be able to make it but who knows?i suppose i'd need one of those carriers to carry camping gear, clothes, spare tires, tools etc.the river is about 2300 miles so the trail must be about 2500 about the distance i've rode this summer.it's a little late in the year to be starting but i guess i could follow the birds.it seems like a good adventure though.

My boys and I take our bikes everywhere. We live out in the country so we take the bikes in the truck and ride around whatever city were in.
I'd like to do that. A couple of teachers camped in our pasture once. They were riding around the US on a tandem double bike.
My best bike I got at the Salvation Army for $18 A 70's Schwinn 10 speed road bike. Updated the derailer. It's a fast heavy duty cruiser.

Well, my beloved Tassajara is in the shop right now--about to go see if it's ready, as my phone numbers have changed so much in the past six months that nobody can keep up with the numbers. I have been thinking about getting a backup bike, but that would probably leave me broke for awhile, as a poor college student... three spokes needed cutting and re-threading, or whatever that would be called, technically. I do have a comfort bike for riding around town, at least.

It's painful when all you can do is dream of riding down some trails, listening to the ipod, and taking pictures of interesting things. I could do that all day long.

If I never get to hike the Appalachian Trail, that would be a good back up plan.

I hear ya. I used to beat the buses in Louisville riding downtown and to UofL.

Saved a ton of money having a bike instead of a car and got around faster.
