i've been rideing alot.it hasn't been a very hot summer so far so that's been nice.i like cooler weather.autumn for me is the best time to ride.i like to smoke one b4 i go.
At the beginning of last year, I installed a bike computer, and I'm happy to report recently hitting 1,000 miles on the odometer, just from riding around Boston, no long trips. Riding my bike is one of the main things that makes me feel young.
Avid bike rider here not much comes close to that feeling of freedom, power, and vigor! hail the bicycle
Same here. I don't own a car so my bike is the only way to get around. I live in Miami Beach and ride year round, about 3K miles a year. Every day (rain or shine) I do six miles to work and six miles back. On weekends if the weather is nice I do about the same going to the beach or movie. Altho it is utilitarian, I also really enjoy riding. This is my new bike I got last year.
i've heard good things about giant bikes.and i saw one last week that was for sale.i ride a schwinn frontier and it looks similar in design as that bike.i ride the twin cities of minnesota area mostly st. paul and with the mississippi running through here it's very hilly.i figure the hills will make me healty or they'll kill me.maybe both.
I like riding mine around the hills here in town. My favorite thing about riding a bike is the "no respect" we get from cars
and you know in town there is usualy a car at nearly every corner.and in between and that's not just rush hour anymore.i think it can work the other way too.sometimes cyclist can be pretty aggresive towards cars.i guess a person has to be sometimes if there's lots of traffic.it's nice when a bike trail can take you where you want to go.encouraging people to bike they keep many trails around here plowed in the winter.
In 1974 Gary Fisher grafted a mixture of road bike and motorcycle parts onto a 1940s Schwinn Excelsior and created the first reliable, low-maintenance mountain bike. Soon after, Gary founded Mountain Bikes, the first company to build production mountain bikes. Today, Gary Fisher Bicycles is one of the world's leading brands of performance bicycles sold through specialty retailers. As chief designer Gary Fisher continues to be one of the most creative forces in cycling with a bicycle line that includes highly engineered, American-made mountain, luxury and children's bikes. Check out Klunkerz... a documentary on the mountain bike. As well as Gary Fisher's Long Strange Trip... Gary Fisher & the Future Gary Fisher and the International Scene Gary Fisher & the 29ers http://fisherbikes.com/gary/story http://www.sonic.net/~ckelly/Seekay/weir_page_1.htm I ride a GF G2 Hardtail Tassajara... usually 5-25 miles a day. Looking for a used road bike on ebay... mainly pre-Trek Klein bikes. Have a KHS Town & Country cruiser and a Partner comfort bike/hybrid.
I found this site by tracking back from the link above to my site. I'm a mountain biker, a charter inductee to the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. Gary Fisher and I started our company together in 1979. I'm also featured in the award-winning film, "Klunkerz." I guess I qualify as a "hippie," since I was the roadie for a SF band from 1968 on, the Sons of Champlin. I worked on shows with all the '60s SF bands, Dead, Airplane, Creedence, Quicksilver, Hot Tuna, Santana, Country Joe, Youngbloods, and a ton more that didn't get so famous. The recently deceased Marmaduke (John Dawson) of the New Riders was a dear old friend. Been bike riding with Bob Weir, smoked a joint with Garcia, and Janis Joplin answered her door naked on the only occasion when I went to her house. I can't believe that a 19-year old has 40,000 posts in five years. Here I am in 1978... And more recently, with Gary Fisher. Now that I'm here, what are we smokin'?
HELL YEAH bikes are awsome!! especially when they have peggs!! I love it when my boyfriend rides me on the peggs!!
Hell yeah, CK, you qualify. If fact, I think you're probably the coolest hippie I ever met RIP Marmaduke "Drink light...roll HEAVY!" The Morrow Dirt Club
i just finished my new bike!!!! my other one was severely messed up... so i found a sweet old green one in the trash the gear system was shitay... so i took it to the bike co-op got it all fixed up. new single gear system it rides amazingly! all for free too! everyone should look into a bike coop near you. they are great
that's where i got my favorite one.....i've been wondering about recumbant bikes.seems they'd be easier on the back.but tougher going up hills but i don't know....i'm seeing alot of rabbits this year as i ride.
I love riding in the mornings while the air is still cool. Awesome. Sometimes I'll listen to Donovan or something while I ride. I live in a relatively quiet neighborhood so not alot of traffic to worry about.
Just Do It! Really, I use a bike for serious transportation, but I also enjoy the process of going places. Oh, the rain gets to be a drag, but that's life. On a sunny not too muggy day tho, it is really fun to get places quickly on your own power. Sometimes I am just aware of that fact and it really feels good. Besides you get good looking legs out of it and can take off a little middle age belly if you work at it and get out of breath. (Disclaimer: Shale does not have stock in any bicycle company nor does he get remuneration from advocating bicycling)
