Could this be a reason for telling somebody that they're attractive when we don't really think so?

Before somebody I know reads this and gets the wrong impression about me, I have another point of view that may or may not be exclusive to me.. We shall see...

I think of myself as evolving somehow in how I see the opposite sex.. What turns my head, what excites me and what turns me on.. I'm finding that after my first impressions have engaged my interest in a person, thier looks seem quite insignificant, and the more I become involved, I find a physical attraction that wasn't in my mental idea of a pretty person before.. The changes that go on in my mind stay with me, become part of me accepting more diverse ranges of physical features as appealing, and help to get rid of all those ~isms that plagued my upbringing..

Not all believe pale isn't desirable.
If I had any Sense my entire body would be pale as a ghost... not just some of it.

Kinda goes back to Each their own...

i definitely think ppl's views of another evolve the more they get to know somebody... you get to know and love somebody with a crooked front tooth for example.. before you know it, you love seeing them smile (even you've ....

-- okay i'm gonna stop there, my fiance is missing a tooth and i just realized that's exactly what has happened with me... (before anybody thinks anything terrible, his teeth are very nice minus the gap- if his teeth were messed up more than that... discolored or decaying.... i don't think i could kiss him, i'm weird about teeth i guess) BUT i absolutely LOVE to see him smile, see that gap, even lick his teeth... which is a little weird and he's the only one i've ever wanted to do that to... lol. but yes, if i ever see somebody with a gap it brings good thoughts and it becomes more attractive than it used to be. personality and chemistry play such an important part in finding somebody attractive... my friends become infinitely more attractive to me after i've grown to love them, and the opposite happens as well.

as far as the question about flirting... i'm not sure exactly what your'e asking, but i definitely think it's a reason some ppl do give such compliments.... to build themselves up, have fun, get noticed, to be seen as a nice person, to turn somebody on and maybe get something in return. maybe even to be mean in a weird way.... "let's encourage this person post more horrible pics of themself so everybody knows what a fuggle they are" (for example) maybe i'm talking out of my ass now, but yes, i believe flirting is a reason that people might give compliments to those they do not find attractive.

p.s. "dead hooker" doesn't equal pale... i really like pale on a lot of ppl... it's the dark blue undereye circles and slack expression and reallllly heavy makeup i was talking about... i don't know why ppl post pics of themselves like that.... *shrug*

I think you hit the nail on the head perfectly with that one right there. That's where my thought lies, and that's why it pisses me off so fucking much. People want to feel they are better than they really are, and they think by portraying themselves in that manner that they are the good person. Really they're worse than the assholes, because are willing to say what the fake ass people think but aren't willing to say.

Honestly, if I don't have something good to say about someone's appearance..I'll generally opt not to say anything at all.

Not to build themselves up so much as building another person up.. It's nicer to witness that the seeing "unconventionally appealing" (Hehe.. I'm good at this!) people with "I'm Sexy" on their t-shirts, which isn't telling themselves that they're pretty, but a way of saying "Fuck off! OI dion't care what you think of my looks!"

I take alot of pleasure walking through anybody's life briefly and brightening up however possible. I don't feel I'm being a fake in any way.... It's not always as strong an act as flirting, but I've done that much more than once..

I try to stay away from having people use my name just because other people that I do mind using it see it and use it. Nothing against you tiger. You can call me chaos however, as I prefer that to my current name any day. In PM's or anything other than public fora you may feel free to use my name though.

Lets see if I can say this another way. . .

Assholes are content with who they are. They don't mind being looked upon as an asshole, so long as they are true to themselves, their opinions, and their thoughts.

Fake people can not bear the idea of people looking at them negatively so they feel it more appropriate to sacrifice, for lack of a better word, their sense of self to appear to be a better person than they are, in the eyes of other people.

Dicks, assholes. Same classification; just a different label.

Hopefully we don't have any anatomy majors come through, they'll think I'm retarded.
