Do your parents know?

My mom knows, and doesn't like it. She just tries to ignore it. My brother used to do all types of pain pills and stuff, but he started with pot so now she's worried that I will go down the same path. I tell her that I've already tried pills and that I hate them, and same with cigarettes. I tell her all the good things about smoking pot everytime she brings it up, and she always loses the argument with "You might get hooked on other stuff". And I always say "I've already been there". Maybe I can turn her into a believer? I think the main reason she doesn't do anything about it is because if she starts yelling at me all the time, and always keeping on my back and such, then I am actually more likely to do pills (I actually wouldn't).

My Dad knows too. He knows when I am going over to friends houses, I'm going to smoke. I don't know why he doesn't do anything about it. Maybe for the same reason as mom?

 

yea my parents now i smoke. My dad was a cop for 25 years. There pretty much cool with it. They dont want me doing it and if they catch me they will yell at me but they dont really care. I have been caught numerous times. The first couple times my parents just took my bongs/pipes and didnt even say a word to me. The second time my mom just yelled at me and told me she was going to test me but she never did. Basically they are cool with it as long as they dont know im doing it even though they do know for a fact im doing it because i admitted to them that i smoke everyday. They dont let me smoke in the house but whenever they smell it they dont say anything because the main reason they dont want me doing it is because they dont want to see me getting in trouble with the law. So they figure hey we might as well let him do it in the house then go out and get caught.

 

Interesting statistics so far. leaving out the parents who don't know, it seems like two thirds of parents actually don't mind or at least tolerate our smoking (18 to 9).

 

Well as a parent, I didn't tell the whole truth in my post earlier. My oldest step-son (16) has tried it for sure, I do not know how much he has smoked or if he still does. I don't THINK our youngest (13) has, but I haven't a clue really. I'm not going to smoke with them (or condone it openly) until they are 18, but I have to say that I would much prefer them smoking pot than drinking too much.

 

Both of my parents were heavy pot smokers back in the day, but they've quit due to the legal aspects. They know I smoked, but I tell them I stopped. They still let me go out even though they know exactly what I'm up to. My mom always makes food for when I get home too. They will take my stash if they find it (I have suspisions that they smoked it once...), but they've always respected my privacy so that's not an issue. I guess they just don't want to openly condone it so I don't get careless and caught.

 

my parents know i smoke but they arnt too keen on it. whenever the subject comes up my dad does his nut and tells me im going to ruin my life and my mum says i should stop cos theres depression in her side of the family. they must know what i do every time i go out with my mate but the dont really say anything. my mum also made me take down a weed poster from my wall so i did but then i stuck it on the back of my door. whahaha

they didn't introduce me to it until they started smelling the fragrance of herb wafting from the bottom of my bedroom door when i was 15.

i appreciate them letting me make a decision about it myself, but i love to light up w/ mom and pops, ya know

 

How old were you when they first did this, Ms. Vixen? If you don't mind me asking?

yeah my parents know. they're cool with it. they make little jokes about it.

we were at a restaurant with relatives and my grandma asked me "what do you spend your money on?", before i could reply my dad says "it all tends to go up in smoke". implying that i spend it quickly on sweets. you had to be there to find it funny. ahhhhh good times

 

My parents have known for awhile. I got busted when I was in 7th grade and got grounded then busted in 8th grade and got grounded then again in 9th grade but once I was in High School they didn't care. And throughout high school as long as I kept my grades up I could smoke or drink as much as I wanted. Unfortunatly I did lose all my glass, an ounce of pot, and smoking privaleges for a long ass time when I got arrested.

 

mine are cool with it, they dont seem to care when i say i have done it and i still do it, but i'm not openly saying that i smoke all the time, i keep it to myself. i can smoke in my room and no one notices. why would they have to know and care anyway?

 

My mom is like a hippy she dont care but my dad is like the opposite he will kill me if he found out!

 

My Dad suspects I smoke, but he hasn't said anything. I imagine if either of my parents caught me, they'd freak since they're all conservative fundamentalist and hardcore christian.

Well, my mom managed a head shop when she was in college.. and my dad used to do things like hitchhike around Colorado. So needless to say, they have been around pot. a lot of it.

They have seen me change my lifestyle from a pill-popping alcoholic full of anger, to a much more peaceful and compassionate person who smokes pot. Pot is something that has brought immeasureable benefits to me, it has genuinely helped me. And my parents know that.

My mom is the type of person who believes that any chemical shouldn't be abused, and things should be dealt with naturally. She didn't even take numbing drugs when she had my sister and I. But she is aware of how benign pot really is, and how many people have a special relationship with the plant. My dad is all for legalization, always has been, and tells me pretty regularly how he plans to retire in Colorado or Cali and have a garden.

The only area of concern with my parents, as well as most of parents of smokers, is that they do not want to see their children locked up with real criminals (MURDERERS, RAPISTS, ETC), because of our herb.

Which brings me to my point: Why the fuck is the government more 'worried' about the health consequences from pot smoking, than millions of parents? Fucking Nazis.

 

My parents new that I smoked since I was 16. They were cool with it, but hated it when I came home with alcohol on my breath.

 

Either my parents know and dont want to say anything or theyre jsut completly oblivious...

My mom and stepdad know that I'm a pothead and that I eat XANAX's and hallucinogens. They're not really "cool" with it but they accept it because I've been pretty honest and upfront about it.

 

nope, they don't know but my mum would get pretty pissed if she knew. I'm pretty sure my dad smokes though so he'd be cool with it.
