Everytime someone mentions Oh Canada i think about this rendition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k4cFMVfnCE I stand, take off my hat, and try to sing louder than whatever wannabe Idol reject they have butchering a once fine drinking-song-turned-national-anthem. Since this only happens for me at sports events, I have usually had a few already so its over fast and I enjoy the strange looks from folks sitting nearby!:cheers2:
Cause your a musician .. you big show off.. I used to sing like this in church, back when I went to church that is..
lol, I thought about this.. I wonder how some people act at home while the anthem is on.. to be honest, I only pay attention to nascar, but they do a ok job in putting it on.. Usually at the tax payers expense with Fighters or Helicopters.. :toetap05:
Thanks Glen. Your input is appreciated. I stood and saluted the direction of the post flag when I was in uniform, removed my hat when I was in street clothes, etc. Now that I'm no longer in uniform, I have a problem with a song that glorifies war, no matter the circumstances. So I simply don't put myself in situations where they play it. If you don't respect my opinion, piss off.
I stand up, but don't participate in any other way. I do the same thing for mandatory public prayers. That is about the least you can get by with in the South. In general, I'm not much into symbolic gestures.
I stand. I don't wear hats, so I don't need to worry about that. I do not put my hand on my heart, or even look at the flag. For the Pledge of Allegiance in school, I always sat, didn't look at the flag, didn't put my hand over my heart or any of that shit, and I vocally opposed the Pledge.
LOLZ! Anywayz, no I would never stand up or do other stupid shit because of an anthem. That is just insanely idiotic.
Yes, I stand out of respect for my country. I don't wear a hat so that's not an issue, however I do not put one hand over my heart, I keep my hands clasped in front of me at the waist.
