Before anyone else flames me... this what I originally said, then all of you smokers jumped on me, I even mentioned "imo". I'm not one to back down when I'm attacked.

It's just my opinion, learn to accept others opinions. ;)

I had a feeling that was what you were getting at. Read the smoking death and health stats that I provided, smoking kills more than even traffic accidents do, let alone car pollution. Plus I don't use my car much, I use the Tube to get to work so I don't drive many miles at all, so you have no base there.

Now can you please stop swearing at me to get your point across?

It is a good discussion, which is why I have stuck with it. [IMG] And I know you've only just got involved, but a couple of the others assumed that.

"flame me[IMG] how appropiate for a thread on smoking ." Good one. [IMG]

interesting link .........but you still have"nt answered my question "even if it is believed to be lower "one death is too many from anything " my point being non smokers can get lung cancer from airbourne pollutants ie car exhausts " so going back to my previous post you could be killing me with your car fumes .

I see your point, but you can only die from car pollutants if you're over-exposed to it. In other words, if you are sitting beside a traffic jam day in day out. You're not sitting beside my car for long periods of time while the engine is running, and if you were, I'd advise you of the health risks. ;)

Smoking kills around 114,000 people in the UK each year.

Furthermore, driving serves a real purpose. Smoking doesn't.

Surely you must respect our opinion on smoking too. It's our choice to smoke, and it's your choice to resent it. You should deal with the fact that some people enjoy smoking, as you would expect people to deal with the fact you're opposed to it.

If you can't accept our opinions, but you flame us for not accepting yours, then you're being a tad hypocritical.

Oh I do accept your opinions and right to smoke, but you seem to be forgetting that I originally gave a two lined opinion to this thread, I never quoted anyone, I just gave my opinion complete with "imo"

Then I get people calling my views "unintellegent", people asking how and why I find it disgusting, I mean people asked for more of my opinions and views, and I gave them. A lot more people than me find it disgusting, don't be that surprised that I do, I'm not that important.

Yes, that's a valid point, but the reason people got pissed off at you was probably due to the fact that you're stereotyping smokers.

Fair point, but I only did it in retaliation. Let's just say that I support banning smoking, and you guys don't, which is pretty much what was in my mind from the start. :)

It's a good debate, and an important one - really no need for homophobic finger pointing on either side. Keep it civil please guys. :)
