No, I own something far better than a gun.

    I have a rubber octopus.

Used to be in the US, but the NRA bought off our politicians and they let that law expire.

    Capitalism at work.

    yep

12 gauge shotgun. I was on a trap team in highschool with an ex girlfriend and her family and I deer hunt.

I also have a bow for hunting deer.

my vegetarian/hippie friends get down on me sometimes, but goddamnit im an omnivore. plus venison is waaaay healthier than corn fed factory meat you get at the grocery store. I also like the feeling of taking care of myself rather than relying on big businesses for survival

sorry i should rephrase that, the big agribusinesses to survive. if our food was ethically raised id be more inclined not to hunt. You cant even trust most "organic" food products. when i hunt a deer i know exactly what im getting

You have no way of knowing if the deer have been grazing in a field sprayed with pesticides (farmers) weed spray (forest service sprays for spurge and knapweed around here) or the toxic slurry they dump from planes and helicopters onto forest fires and surroundings...
...not to mention chronic wasting disease...:(

I used to hunt, but one day I added up all the time and expenses of going hunting and it just didn't work out....

    I prefer organic grass-finished beef anyway. :2thumbsup:

either way id rather deal with all that than farmed meat. i try just to eat grassfed beef as well.

I do also enjoy hunting as well. health is just one part of the process that i enjoy. I also like knowing that i went through the whole process from slaughtering to preparing cooking to eating the venison.

I also like to know that in the wildly rare event that shit hits the fan ill be able to take care of myself. I am a canoe guide and training to be a wilderness survival guide. the whole woodsman lifestyle just interests me.

I can dig it. But during a shtf event long enough to require hunting, everybody and thier dog is gonna be out there shooting up the big game too. Besides, deer and elk are too lean, you won't get enough fat. Trapping is the answer my friend. Woodchucks, muskrat, beaver, raccoon, all have good amounts of healthy fat. You don't even need a gun. It's really a much more sustainable way economically and environmentally.

I have my pile of conibears (kill traps) but I only intend to use them in dire circumstance (shtf)

Oh yeah, I own a single shot 20 gauge shotgun, youth model... my shorty shotty. :bandana:

i guess i just cant win haha

i am actually interested in trapping. Once I get more into hunting (I just started a few years ago) I plan on eventually moving onto trapping. Gear is just so damn expensive

These traps are less than ten bucks each and are good for most 'cept big beavers.

ive been hunting since i was 12, im now 18. ill never get into trapping i dont think, it just seems so inhumane to me. plus, what would i need a beaver for i mean really. the main reason i dont like it is because i remember i was 15 walking out of the woods during bow season and i seen a raccoon caught in a trap, it must have been in there for a really long time because it basically dug a hole in 360 degrees from trying to get out so whoever put that trap there obviously didnt check it often. me and my dad tried to let it out by putting a shirt over it and prying the trap open but it was real angry and hissing and shit so we figured we better not take the chance of it having a disease
