I don't miss anything. I was really picky as a child when it came to meats anyways and I was forced to eat meat. When I became old enough to get a job and purchase my own foods, then I became a vegetarian. I could never give up cheese and milk products. Okay, may be Icould, but I like cheese and icecream way too much..lol
^^ lol, bumble, I said just that for a long time myself. And a couple months ago I just hit my limit, I guess. Stopped everything for good and haven't looked back.
ice cream is an easy dairy free immatation... i like the the dairy free, soy versions better than regular ice cream... i have trouble not finishing the entire container in one sitting, so i rarely buy it. my favorits are peanut butter, butter pecan, and Carmel chocolate turtle!!!! sooooo good!
Chicken nuggets, chicken fingers, that type of thing. Some days it's all I can do to resist yanking them out of my son's mouth and downing them. I really get major cravings for them with a good honey mustard sauce. Kathi
I don't miss meat. Grosses me out now... In fact I would have a hard time eating it in good conscious because I've been very conditioned by animal rights propaganda to feel that way. I'm glad I am conditioned for that though.
yea meats are still pretty gross. Especially after working in a grocery store handling everyone's bloody smelly meats. i don't think i will ever have a meat craving unless i'm seriously lacking something from my diet. I ate some chicken after a few weeks of being vegetarian and I felt like I was killing a baby or something... so... uh my cravings are pretty much under control. It's al so not just a mental thing now, it's physical. I think that if I ate some meat I would throw it up because most meat smells make me gag anyways. I usually have to exit the house when somebody here is cooking meats. Especially liver.
^^ You just reminded me of something that I know I've read, but I'm not sure where. :& Something about how digesting animal proteins uses a particular stomach enzyme or something that isn't naturally there, but develops when we're young children and first start consuming those proteins. But after a certain period of time *not* consuming animal proteins, our bodies again stop production of this enzyme. (?) Can anyone fill me in or make sense of the jumble I remember, please?
When i first went veg aged just 13 i craved sausage rolls so bad i finally cracked and ate one. But id had no idea what i was doing, it was at the very beginning and i simply wasnt replacing my protein and omegas (id barely touched soya or nuts or seeds or anything) A few months later i decided to really go for it, do it properly and research beforehand. I went veg properly aged 14 and havent missed a single thing since
I have to say the thought of eating any meat really repulses me! I have been a vegetarian since I was five (I am now 29). Not sure why, all I know is that I can't stand the smell, texture, taste or sight of it! The rest of my family have always been meat eaters and just accepted that I wasn't going to eat it. It always amazes me when people turn vego later in life because I find that as far as food goes (especially BBQ's!) it's such an inconvenience at times and I am always the exception everywhere I go. Well done for making a life choice and sticking to it though. I know I won't be going back!
