I littered today. I defiantly threw a gum filled wrapper out onto the subway platform. It felt good, it actually felt great to see the shock on a couple faces. I felt liberated from social confinement. Yeah, it was wrong…but thats the fun part. Do I litter in gorgeous natural settings? Hell no.
That's OK, NYC is a shithole anyway, especially its subway system. Ever have any creepy people harass you on the subway?
Thank you agreed lol Uh yeah only every day. Its awful. For some reason, I attract all the creepy ones. I pay close attention to everyone, just to gauge whether I'm over reacting to things.. So I've paid attention to the way men sit next to each other or less attractive women. It seems they don't infringe on those peoples' space…but for some reason they are constantly hogging the seat with me and all over me (their legs rubbing/touching mine, they spread out, they sit with their arms hanging over my lap). Obviously its really frustrating. I've started elbowing them and being super rude just to turn them off. They usually get it pretty quickly unless they're drunk or something.
I think littering gum, though small, is going to get you bad karma points =p Cuz ya know, someone is bound to step in it. And while stepping in gum is not the equivalent of stepping in dog shit or anything, it's still pretty bad. Someone might step in your gum and it'll ruin their shoes and day..
Do I litter? Not in a million years. Actually, I do exactly the opposite. Here is an example of some of my work-

Sometimes I do. Little items: sweep packets etc. Nothing bigger than a crisp packet. I've left empty cans on wall. Generally, I abhor litter louts. I do not litter 99% of the time. I hate when people say things like this: '... it could be said that littering is good for job creation.'
Never. I save all my empty plastic water bottles (worth 5 cents each) until I have 4-5 dollars worth. Then I gladly give them to the first homeless person that crosses my path. The smile is always mutual. :sunny: QP
It's all a bit hypocrite. I do not throw a small piece of paper on the ground. However, I do have a car that spits out a lot more shit than a simple piece of paper. And I put my garbage in a plastic bag, so it can get collected by a garbageman who takes it to a place where it gets burned. Or recycled (lol).
No, not randomly. People who litter throw things away. Away. They fail to realize that there is no away, that we are all intricately connected to our environment and each other. As a society we have agreed to throw away our waste products in centralized areas instead of recycling everything, so in that sense we all litter. But random throwing away in random areas is especially abhorrent. I have also noticed that many people rationalize by throwing waste products into the bed of their pick-up trucks, so they can properly dispose of it later. Then they forget about it and drive down the road and let it fly out all over the place.
I can honestly say with pride that I do not litter..I recycle,,and even pick up after my dog- - However,,,I have to say (with a bit of shame)- that I throw cigarette butts on the ground every now and then- -but I do my share!
