you don't have to do anything to be a hippie... and why try to be one, just be yourself.

being a real "hippie" means dressing in whatever the hell you want and not really caring what anyones going to think or say.

I think the real question here is "What does a Hippie dress like." I know an old school hippie who dresses turn of the 20th century (or earlier) in a vest and a bowler hat. I know others who have dreads and wear tie-dye.

My wardrobe is nearly as eclectic as my record collection. Excuse me if I namedrop some brands while describing a typical outfit for this time of year:
    Tribal Gear Fieldy 2 shoes
    Carhart work pants
Long sleeve t shirt (depending on what is clean)
Lost Hoodie (I call it my homeless sweatshirt as I have had it a while and when I wear it it makes me look homeless)
    Duster
Canvas Messenger bag with a picture of Ganesha on it and a water bottle that says "Evolve" hanging off it
A beenie cap with flames on it

My point being that even though I just name dropped alot of shit I wear it for 3 reasons:
    1) Practical. I have blown out alot of pants and I know that those carharts aren't blowing out.

2)Comfort. By the time you've worn a sweatshirt enough to look homeless you know it is comfy.

3)I just like the style and how it feels.

Haha thankks for all the help guy:)! When i first got on hf i was verry confused to who i was what i should be labeled as what clothes i should wear. Now i realize that what you wear has nothing to do with who you are and that i shouldnt let labels limit the possibilitys on who i can be. I think that hf had alot to do with it :) soo reallyy guyys thankks for all the help:)

Wow HF did that for you. Imagine what acid could do for a 15 year old. Turn you onto heroin. You'll be well on your way to being a hippy. And I think most hippies would tell you it definitely matters what you wear, if they say otherwise they are full of shit. Not saying people on here are full of shit, I don't know how they dress....Or do I?.....

I'm in 10th grade myself. I "found" who I was a couple years ago. I was pretty much the first in my grade to get this stuff started. Essentially, there is no code of hippies.

A hippie is technically nothing more than someone who is into what ever is hip. So these "gangstas" could be considered hippies in my book. But I know what you are looking for.

With your beliefs, you are not a poser. A poser is someone that dresses like a hippie, but doesn't have the beliefs or knowledge. The reason hippies dress like we/they do is because its usually organic and free. We don't wear stuff that is brand name, we don't go through with all this special crap. It's natural, comfortable, and separates us from the other "idiots." Wear whatever you want. If you are comfortable in something other than hippie-wear, go for it.

Yeaaahh i mean it was just really confusing at first cause none of my friends got it. Like they were kinda going with everyone else and i was just kinda trying to do me and to find out what doing me was. Like i think now things are a little more clear to me but i still have a lot to figure out.

i like to take my old jeans that dont fit and sew patches in so they fit. maybe add myself a cool flair to the bottom. you see a lot of the hippie wear ( from what i've been told take note im still young myself) all those crazy colors and mis matched items came from us like minded people not wanting to just throw out those old clothes and fabric. they reused things in order to help reduce the stress on our earths resources
