well, it's just a case of not really thinking it through. my brother can be masticating the bloody remains of storebought flesh and call me a wierdo for "shooting bambi." i'm like "i don't shoot bambi. bambi's too gamey. i prefer to shoot his great big uncle, or aunt, depending on the tag." and when you look at the grazing land for beef vs. the lands used by elk or deer, and any environmentally oriented person would start frothing at hte mouth. but i have to say that my favorite elk meat comes from the elk that eat the soy crops or alfalfa. the farmers get their depredation tags to protect their crops, and i go in, shoot an elk, and take it home. defending crops AND getting some meat. good stuff.
