Do You Haiku?

The leaves are changing
But it's still hot and humid
Autumn skips the south

 

Autumn will soon appear
And with it the whistling winds
Along with the frigid air

 

This is good, but it's not haiku form

5-7-5 syllables

 

I think there is a famous haiku that goes something like

frog
jumps in pond
splash



So maybe I'm misremembering the haiku, but could there be more than one haiku form?

I think are other versions but the more popular one is the 5-7-5 syllable one, taking up three lines.

 

I just tried looking up the Matuso Basho Frog Haiku

The original is

Furu ike ya
kawazu tobikomu
mizu no oto

which sounds like it could be 5-7-5

Various translations, but one is

Old pond
frog leaping
splash!

 

I wish she'd come back
She always said the right thing
Grandma, I miss you

 

Finding the right time
To tell someone, ''I love you''
Why not do it now?

 

Will be homeless soon
I should have seen this coming
Can't take care of cat
