Everybody knows that God expects that you must never have to find him. Heck, there is a war going on. Finding Him in the interest of Peace was to join the cause of neighborhood improvement and freedom for the realizing of one's talents. But that way it is expected that the fellowman is for Injustice in the world (by tautology). What God really expects of you is the Religious Right to support as the conscionable direction of unattainable peace in the Midst of Nature. Being on the Religious Right may still allow the Political Left. The Tea Party, as I see it, was the perception of Boston as a historical museum. Actually, the whole country can become (talking about Become) a museum, and in it we can perceive People like Obama, Clinton, maybe Prince Andrew and the Princess, and of course Lieberman. We should then understand that the war had a purpose.
I was simply refuting an argument. I don't believe the only means of sex is procreation, I was simply saying that if one follows all scripture word for word he/she is a walking negation of all he/she believes. Hippocritical, that's all. Can't say "God hates gay people" and then throw around a football and eat bacon (not supposed to use the parts of a pig, remember). All I know is that the quotes people use to argue homosexuality are in the old testament; many of those orthodox laws are followed by the Jewish, need they apply to followers of Christ? It's not really worth arguing when spirituality is so personal (so is sex ). Christ ate and drank with those 'unclean' and Gentiles, as I'll say again, in the Gospel of John he spoke to a Samaritan woman: something forbidden by Judaic law. Christ broke the old rules, he broke through boundaries...did he care about pointing fingers and saying "God hates these people and God hates those", nah, he said "Love your neighbour". In my humble opinion, this includes sex. Sorry for the misunderstanding! So many people take scripture either LITERALLY (whoa, calm down people) or out of context. And I'll say again, point fingers and you'll have a longer one pointing back at ya, from your own hand. I know one thing, if God's expectations are to persecute, judge and declare that certain types of people are unfit for God's love, we might as well consider ourselves screwed right now. Good luck with that lol.
Not that I am agreeing with your first statement, but Acts 11 talks about pure and impure food. Jesus' discource in Mark 7 also is seen as purifying foods.
Okay then, let's talk. No, someone who follows all Scriture word for word is not a “walking negation of all he/she believes” and they are not hypocritical. God does not hate gay people but he does counsel against homosexuality. This “throw around a football and eat bacon” has nothing to do with Christians. That was part of the Mosaic Law and was a covenant with the nation of Israel, not with Christians. Also the “NT” points out many times that the Christian congregation is no longer under the Mosaic Law. As for “the quotes people use to argue homosexuality are in the old testament”, there are several in the “NT”. God does not “hate” people, he gave his son for the whole world not just some of it but God does hate many of the things that people do. No, "Love your neighbor" does not include sex. Many confuse sex with love and love can be shown with sex but they are not the same thing. You can show love for another without sex and sometimes sex does not show love at all. You see, God is teaching us to benefit ourselves but many feel that if they don’t agree with what God says in the Bible, then either God, the Bible or both are wrong but God created us and knows what is good for us better than we know ourselves.
Exactly, Love and hate are not the same thing. Do you really think God loves what is bad? Of course not and thus God instructs us hate what is bad love what is good. Amos 5:14-15; Psalm 34:14; Psalm 97:10; Romans 12:9; 3 John 11 I guess you can love what is bad if you want but you won't be following God's commands if you do.
I'm saying that fundamentalists who follow scripture word for word, may need to look at themselves and check out other 'laws' and rules cited in the big book. Was going out of one's way to put down people or be a 'hater' part of God's plan? Mosaic laws, archaic laws, okay...I'd like to see a quote from Jesus against homosexuality...as well as some passages from the New Testament IN their whole context. As far as hippocritical thinking and behaving, well...Jesus said "love your neighbour as yourself," surely the hatred and exploitation, mass genocides in the NAME of God (from the crusades, to the Holocaust, the massacres of native american peoples and African American slaves...and now the Homophobia that seep into people thinking they are doing God's will) go AGAINST what God was saying. We're at 'hipforums' well, Jesus was the first hippie, he didn't judge, he didn't care who loves who, he cared who DIDNT love...his message was for us to open our minds, hearts and love one another...LOVE is the message, the will and the essence of faith. Love your neighbour doesn't include sex, but sex is a spiritual act in itself, we've turned it into a commodity what with pornography and the degradation of women. Sex is a means of expressing love in the physical sense. Our body is a walking, breathing fingerprint of God...we're meant to cherish it and love it - nah, not treat it like a 'thing' to stifle and exploit. Procreation comes in when sex creates children, MORE children for God to love, for us to love...That's always good, but sex with true love backing it is never a blasphemy...it's when a person cuts him/herself off from the beauty and sacredness of it...in MY opinion...is when it veers from its meaning. As far as God hating what we do, well God doesn't work like that. When we do certain things, we hurt God...as TheDope keeps pointing out, what would your expectations be for your child? You would never 'hate' things your children do, especially if it makes them happy...so what if your child was gay? If their lover truly filled them with joy I would assume it would make a parent happy. When our children hurt themselves, we feel sad and powerless...we make God sad when we wage wars, hurt the environment, judge eachother etc. But when has love hurt anybody, honestly...there are bigger sins than love. God is our parent, not our enslaver or master...we have free will...so we can freely love him. A forced love is not real love. I will respect anyone's opinion...but not necessarily agree with it. We can't really say what God's expectations are...other than for us to be happy. A good parent expects nothing from their children. Think of infancy...infants are powerless, dependent and give nothing but what the parent takes from them: essentially. joy of their being and their presence. When our children cry we rush to their aid, we protect them and vow to love them no matter what... God's love is far from selfish...as real love is. Man made hate...a thing that most likely hurts God. Racism, homophobia, sexism, prejudice all come from the same vein: hate. To put God's name behind those things seems quite contradictory. God bless.
When did god create something bad. I guess you missed the part about not judging. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. If the eye be sound the whole body will be full of light. Let he who is blameless cast the first stone. If the light in you be darkness, then how great the darkness. If evil is the truth for you, then how great the evil is. Particularly psalms 34:14, depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Not uphold evil and maintain it's vision while you are looking for peace. Count it all joy. We master through love, not by hating evil. The evil you see, is the evil you call upon. It is your judgment as evil that creates the vision of evil. The measure you give is the measure you receive. Here we are again waterbrother, just like when we first met. I notice that you somehow find a reason to hate, that you defend vigorously, the right to hate, in the midst of a message of love. You do not demonstrate that you understand the healing power of forgiveness. You stand up for hate because you believe the bible instructs you to cultivate hate within yourself, and you really do believe the message of the serpent when he says: if you know the difference between good and evil you will be like god. No, this is not spiritual discernment. Because you say you see, your sin remains. I'll tell you again, those who think they know evil are just looking for an excuse to be vicious. Forgive the world, your critique of it.
On questions of marriage, ideally there are no marriages in heaven. This is the only thing we have on sexual orientation. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs that have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. What god has joined, let no man put asunder.
The meaning of the instruction, we must be as wise as serpents yet innocent as doves is, we must be able to distinguish fact from fiction, but your fact, must never make your brother guilty
The uncluttered mind of a tot. Unless you become as little children you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
Dope, you have taken a few scriptures, mostly taken out of context and have tried to negate the rest of God's word. The trouble is that all Scripture is inspired of God and not just some. By doing so you set yourself above God and set your thinking above God's and thus you set yourself in opposition to God. (Ezekiel 33:17) Yes, God is love and we need to imitate his love but you ignore the simple fact that it is also a command of God to hate what is bad. If you want to love what is bad that is up to you but that is not what God commanded. Go ahead and show your love of rape, murder and crime in general or try to pretend they don't exist but as for me and my household we will continue to try and follow God's commandment to love what is good and hate what is bad.
Waterbrother, you have neglected in large part to allow the holy spirit to teach you, and have instead, kept to a codices compiled by men. Moses allowed you to divorce your brothers for the sake of hardness of heart. But you must support him in every case unless he is not interested, infidelity. That is you may not force yourself upon another, You have heard it said, an eye for an eye, but christ taught, you shall not hate him. Love seeks not it's own. I am with god and god with me. I cannot be greater than the father, it is enough that I be like the father. When we see christ we shall be like him. You crucify the son of god for your vision of a law breaker, your judgment of a brother as sinful. Give us barabbas, you say, accused and convicted "under the law", instead of the innocent who find their authority in goodness. I desire mercy not sacrifice. I ignore no such fact. I have received no such command. God is love, a reality without opposite. I don't love what is bad, I love the world as god created it. Again, you believe what the serpent says that you are inherently unlike god, sinful, but you would be like god if you knew good and evil. You do not have the power to judge the world, but you do have the power to forgive the world your judgments. Go ahead and try to be both good and evil. Try to invest yourself with a split mind. Like I said, you believe yourself to be one of the few. You set yourself against your brother because you must justify your unwillingness to forgive.
hw doesn't have to try to be both good and evil, nor possibly in the course of using conscience either GOOD or EVIL. The second form of commanding is a symbol for PROGRESS like the commandments are interpreted for positive improvement of the Idea. The Idea is not the individual becoming within oneself, but the actuality of reconciled difference with 'Your Brother'. It happens, and then the government cracks down. Try my way of the repulsion of non-reconciled Evil, and the Good as uniting the fellowman, I guess, becoming possesses the words set against the scattered image of totality (the Idea yet to be self-realized in History) The original Sin 'oneself against his fellow human' is no one's, never just mine or yours.:sultan:
It is interesting how you continue to hate your neighbor and love what is bad. You "received no such command" mainly because you do not receive the message of God. You only listen to what you call the "holy spirit", I receive what I know is from the Holy Spirit, God's Word the Bible. (2 Peter 1:21) So when God's word says to love what is good and hate what is bad, that is what I do. But you rail against it and say that everyone should love what is bad, because the Bible is just "a codices compiled by men". (Malachi 2:17) I can only hope that you will wake up and realize that what you call "holy spirit" is setting you in opposition to God, because it is teaching you to love what is bad. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
Here are some "NT" scriptures for you to look up so you can read them in context: (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Timothy 1:8-11) As for Jesus, some argue in favor of homosexuality, claiming that Jesus never spoke against it. But is that really so? Jesus Christ declared that God’s Word is truth. (John 17:17) That means that he endorsed God’s view of homosexuality as described at Leviticus 18:22. Moreover, Jesus listed fornication and adultery among the “wicked things [that] issue forth from within and defile a man.” (Mark 7:21-23) The Greek word for fornication is a broader term than that for adultery. It describes all forms of sexual relations outside lawful marriage, including homosexuality. (Jude 7) Jesus Christ also warned his followers not to tolerate any professed Christian teacher who minimizes the seriousness of fornication.—Revelation 1:1; 2:14, 20.
