dunno if i would say I'm a complete metal head but its deffinately like 95% of my music life and i feel it shapes me enough. The other 5% of music i listen to is classic rock because well its the best thing on the radio and I'm too cheap for satelite radio lol
I've been a metalhead most my life, by as I grew older, my music taste have varied as I explored other stuff. I absolutely love new age and ambient, also classical, good goth and gothic metal, power opera, classical electronica, and other stuff with no genre. Now I just enjoy the music on my stereo or pc and such. I gave up going to concerts with people who have no more respect, are violent, or just drunk and stupid. I can't have a good time around such people. Peace people
I absolutely consider myself a metalhead. That's all i really listen to. Pantera, Slayer, Old Metallica, Cannibal Corpse, Dragonforce, etc. As for the stereo type that some people hate is how metalheads bash music that is hardcore for them. It's true, but it's how we are. Im the more mellow headbanging kind of guy. And all i can say is that most music that is our their sucks. Honestly; somehow metal just gets me full of energy and gets me in the mood to bash someone's skull in.
well yes i am a metalhead. i play a guitar and it has taught me more about myself than anyone or anything ever could. my favourite bands are decapitated psycroptic etc bulkmetal as i like to call it . yet all of the songs ive learnt i enjoy playing the blues
perfect, i am not a metalhead cuz if i cut out all the music that i listen to that isnt metal, i would feel much too angry. in fact in my young high school years i was a metalhead like the one described by hail. and i am very embarassed by this

Yes, stereotyping, but also very minute in comparison to the power given to fans of hardcore punk. Complete internet toughguys, most will be nice as fuck in person, and sour as a lemon online. Its neat.
Hehe, sometimes people just seem to forget that in a lot of scenes the essence has nothing to do with the people who represent it on the internet.
i listen to more than one genre of music. but metal is one of them, i'm listening to Saxon right now.
i used to be really closeminded to anything that had some sort of melody... i probably would have considered myself a strict metalhead then! haha now that i have an extremely bizarre taste in all sorts of music, i still have a special place for metal... now it's just stonery and doomlike as opposed to all the brutal shit i used to love before. but hell, if my username is wormed than goddamnit i might as well be a metalhead! \m/ (or something to that effect)
Hehe. Yeah. I was once like that too. But I changed, and now I'm a total prick and think I'm better than anyone else.
I love metal because it's the one style of music that I've found that's constantly changing in very obvious ways. Death metal doesn't sound much like Black metal, which doesn't sound much like Industrial metal... ect. They are always finding new styles of music to incorporate into their own sound, such as Nile incorporates Egyptian influences, Finntroll added in heavy amounts of polka melodies, while Bathory created something called Viking metal... a style that focused on Viking history and Norse mythology and helped create Folk metal music where bands like Korpiklaani while a band like Arcturus went to the side with the bizarre, effectively creating Avant-garde metal. All this and Heavy Metal itself is a sub-genre of Rock, just like Alternative... or Gangsta Rap is a sub-genre of Rap. I've been listening to Metal for a over half of my stupid little life and while I acknowledge that there is a lot of junk, there is so much creativity that it keeps me guessing as to what they'll figure out what to do next. Add in that some metal bands move on from the trappings of the style in order to create new things in the world of music, the best example being Ulver, a former black metal band that wrote an album of, to paraphrase their description, "Amateur Neo-Folk" before moving into soundscapes and electronic schizophrenia. I get bored very quickly with one particular style and one particular sound. I wouldn’t call myself a metalhead, as the implications of why I listen to the music are not generally correct, but I would call myself a metal enthusiast. I do have hang-ups about metal, but I always stick with it and there’s always someone doing something that I find stimulating, but no metal artist could ever be my favorite musical artist, as there are simply too many trappings. There are no Tom Waits or Frank Zappa’s in metal because if they were to eliminate guitars, it wouldn’t be heavy metal anymore.
i don't consider myself a metalhead. I (think) listen a lot of different kinds of music, always try to discover new things in music that seem to be worthwhile to stick with for a while, metal is just one of them. heavy music in general seems to be the basis of what i like, being it heavy in the sense of complicated compositions, loud noises or both
Metal is the Best. Metal has the ability to snatch you up by your soul and fuck you right in the fucking face! METAL RULES!
