The first law of reality (and of course this has to be about mine - as yours is different - yah, but they are all Connected) is that each individual is responsable for every act and thought they have. Each and everyone of us can affect what is ours.
What others do - is theirs - not ours.

Therein lays the rub
It means that you can blame no one for anything that is yours to do or not.
It means that you pick and choose - even by not choosing.
It litereally and truthfully means that you create your environment of what is real for you, by how you choose to See it, and Act on it.
It never stops - we cannot get off the wheel - abdicate our authority - for in that we again choose, and the consequences of any given choice we make, is ours.
No matter how hard you try - you cannot be responsable for another. You cannot save anyone - you can only choose to Be and Do yourSelf - and even in the not doing or being - you still Are.
Just how do you wish to define yourSelf ? This is exactly what you are doing.

And no ivory - I did not (yet) read the links - but I already have some knowledge of what you are talking about and have found that THIS far supercedes that.
Most have tried to give away their autonimity - but this is actually not possible - you cannot cease to exist. What ever Was, Is and ever will Be........not lives - Exists.
Every vibration exists, every thought -Is-...We just have a hard time (heheh) grasping it; because we try to linearize things.
We Separate....and in that illusion, we change (hahha) - but everything -IS- - as it always Was, and will Be. The Being -IS- NOW - and we Are.....what we make of ourSelfs - no more - no less !
-IS-, is all we have.

And that my dear is probably harder to take in than the idea that America has borrowed against your very existence at your birth and you are to them an indentured slave - but as in the devil card - the loose chains are binding us only because we let them stay - at any time we can take them off.
We Are and always were free agents - but most prefer not to See, nor Act, accordingly.

Ahh but this is co-dependence - and we are all the victims - Aye ?

One thing I am fairly sure of however, most communities fail because they try to live off the land and cannot make it happen. To have a small group of like minded people work together with a decent if not high standard of living means working off the land, Grew up in poverty have no real desire to live it again,

Oldwolf, your theory is interesting but seems to not include persons unable to make choices, conscious or not. It does not consider those of mental deficiences or those without equal knowledge. The more experience/knowledge a person has, the better their advantage to make an informed choice. We can all make choices and take responsibility for them, but any of us may have made a different choice if we had more knowledge at the time the choices were made.

Obviously just my personal opinion

 

I just found this thread and have read it through from beginning to end, first with excitement and ending with a slight disappointment. I too agree that it is so hard to get these communities out of the formation stage. I have recently been struggling with this life and the doctors tell me I am depressed, but I have had an epiphany that I am not depressed but oppressed. I work a 7-5 job to pay for a new car and a mortgage I will probably never pay off in twenty years and I am to the point where I see no point in this. There is no point in this. I am a writer and a gardener at heart and I never have time to pursue my soul's desires. I am trapped and bound simply trying to fulfill my physical desires for shelter and food and the constraints of society no longer hold any interest for me at all. I am sad to see the emminent end of this thread but I did want to share a nugget of information that I have found. there is a co-op village forming near Marianna, Florida that promises great things. It is based on the priniciples of "The Next Evolution" by Jack Reed. Thanks for listening to me babble. It is so nice to see that there are still people that understand this life we have found ourselves in is leaving us cold and wanting...

 

you Know - we each make choices with almost every breath we take.
It does not depend upon how much information we have - we are responsable to trying to increase our awareness and make the choices to the best of our ability - whatever that ability may be.
Each makes choices - of necessity - there are none incapable of making choices. None who can give up their own responsabilities - no matter how inviting this may seem.
To whatever level we are able, we stretch oursSelfs to move into the Beyond - to Become More ...... when nothing else seems to be a purpose, this is a most noble and honorable one to give ourSelfs to.
We can all look at any part of our lives as being insovable problems - or at any time can See that opportunities abound and we Are capable of Change - no matter what our situation is.

To Be less than you can Be - to shirk your potential - bites - literally - it will come round again - and again and again - each time being a little more forceful in directing our attention to areas we have refused to Grow in... or convenienntly made excuses and Blamed something or someone else for our own lack of gumption.

Sorry but You Can Change; and to See the Change necessary, and to excuse ourselves for any reason, will only cause, of necessity, for that to come back a wee bit stronger in message till we 'Get it' and face our Selfs and Change
We Are Empowered and we create our environment by what we open ourSelfs to perceiving.

And for those who see this thread as becoming less - .... sure and this is how you deal with setbacks ?
for shame - not much fire to Be and Do - which any will tell you is a Necessity for even getting off our fat lazy asses - and please you all notice the we - - we all must deal with constantly motivating ourSelfs
