You certainly are different, rmorgan. I was intrigued by your posts when you wrote that you'd fuck Richard Ramirez (the serial killer) on another thread (the thread on whether nice guys finish last).

For the most part I found your posts informative, but that post about Richard Ramirez struck me the wrong way. The guy raped and killed elderly women, and even sodomized a child in front of his bleeding mother, according to Wikipedia.

He had his own groupies when he was on trial. The killings, his rotting teeth, his degeneracy (for lack of a better word) -- none of this seemed to matter to the women who in some bizarre way found themselves attracted to this dark figure in the media limelight during his trial.

I don't want to appear like I am moralizing on this thread but I must admit that upon reflecting on this, I became a little pessimistic about our society. Of course most women do not want to fuck Richard Ramirez, but he has gotten a heck of a lot more attention from women than many "nice" guys in our society. The implications of this make me shudder.

 

hmmm 17 is quite a lot, but its different when its you. I mean I'm your age and I've been with 12, nearly all of them in relationships, thats not to say they were long relationships but relationships all the same, those that werent, were close friends...

In the past 3 years I have only been with two people, some people think that 12 is a lot, but to me, becuase I have lived it, it doesnt really feel like it. Which means I guess that I slept with 10 people in two years, not really a long time I spose, but... you know... bout 5 people per year...

I think what I'm trying to say is that its subjective and... well, I dont know. I think slut is a loaded and misused word

Robyne, what is the magic number that makes one a slut? Come on. You are only a slut if you wanna be a slut. If someone else thinks you are a slut, why should you give a flying fuck unless it is the opinion of someone you love and care about?

 

my advice... do what you want, with who you want. then be proud of your choices.
don't let some social concept like SLUT, be an influence.

because the bottom line is that you are an individual, and make your own individual choices based your own individual: Likes, dislikes, emotions, attractions, curiosities, ect.

Not all of our choices are good ones... but those choices still educate us and enrich the experience of life.

A lot of people are saying that calling girls "sluts" is wrong, that it is a label used to deny women their sexuality, etc. Perhaps, though, there is justification for it -- not to mention that many women freely use the term to put down other women. We all know that women develop rivalries against one another and how they talk dirt behind one another's backs.

I discovered that sex with no strings attached is no fun. You might as well masturbate because with the right level of concentration and imagery you can orgasm about as good (sex is in the mind, after all).

Humans are social creatures, and need the love and warmth of others all throughout their lives. I am not aware of any studies off-hand but lonely people seem to be sadder and less healthy. Children who grow up without love develop psychological problems later in life. One-night stands or purely physical sexual encounters can leave you feeling lonelier and more isolated than ever the next day (this is not to deny that a one-night stand can be enjoyable as an experience of pure physical pleasure). Because humans crave attachment from others, especially from the opposite sex, it follows that the best sex is with someone you are very attracted to physically and whom you care very much about, and vice versa.

Additionally, there is the issue of sexually transmitted infections (STIs, an acronym that has recently replaced STDs). People (women) who sleep around are more likely to carry infections that can be passed onto a partner.

I won't be a hypocrite and deny I have had a one-night stand, but I feel at this point in my life that I may just abstain from sex until I find a life-long partner (marriage is unnecessary for me).

Then again, this could all be theorizing. Don't all guys have that fantasy of living like a rock star, and having any woman he wants? Maybe that would lead, once again, to the cycle of feeling unfulfilled and bored the day after each fling. Countless rock stars seem to live unhappy lives despite their fame and wealth.

Anyway the whole concept of slut is pretty much fucked because it is discriminating against females. If a bloke had 17 chicks in bed then he would be a top bloke.
I am more concerned about the safety aspect, if you are not protecting yourself and your partner against STD's then I would say you are a slut.
I did hear the other day on the telly someone say that they usally skip all the bullshit and go straight for the sex because they felt that the true nature of a person is revealed during sex. I am still thinking that one through.
Although if that was true then I would be the most boring person in the world

I don't care how you may fit the description of a slut, I find it very difficult to tell someone they are a slut. They are just human. You aren't any more a slut than anyone else.
