Do dreadlocks inhibit employment?

    im a hair dresser at the moment so no problem getting a job with dreads but im studying and training to be a fire fighter.. they hire but it wont help and and getting the fucking helmet on with dreads is a bitch (takes me like 3 times longer to get the head gear on lol)

    i got a job yesterday ^-^

    but it was at a rock music venue, and most of the staff have mohawks/piercings/tatts etc etc etc

    Id say yes, they do inhibit employment, only to a degree however. I used to work at a pizza place where i live and it never stopped em there, but i always had to wear a hair net when no one else did, however if you want a job in say an office or a maybe even a supermarket, then yes id say your chances of getting a j0ob would be decreased. Its sad because most dreads are kept clean and tidy by their owners, just people and their dreadlock stereotypes.
