it ain't the size of the dog in the fight that matters, its the size of the fight in the dog comprende?
*yawn* Yet another total waste of carbon using up our earth's oxygen. Damn! I think a lot of us here have wasted too much time paying attention to anything you might have to say. My bad. I won't let it happen again. Have a nice day.
What are you doing in front of a pc when you're drunk in Amsterdam with this lovely summer night? Get out! .. hm.. wait.. *mumbles something about pot, kettle, black..*.. hehe Have fun Ooh btw.. tomorrow is in the 'Oosterpark' a festival.. 'root festival' or sth like that.. multi culture stuff.. sposed to be pretty cool. Or was it Sarphati park.. hm.. no.. think it is Oosterpark. Like music, food, little shops.. stuff like that.

I'm American and I know everything. I just did that to see if anyone responds without reading the rest of my post. lol. I am american and i loved reading this thread. i know the rest of the world bashes on my country alot...often... ok all the god damn time, but I do to. So in that respect I know exactly where Jason is coming from. You gotta be able to despise something entirely so that you can take of those rosy glasses and fix the actual problem. As far as narrow minded biggoted people go. Trust me they can be found equally dispursed world-wide. I am begining to see this because I run into them all the time. I live in Savannah, Ga which is in the middle of Dixie. Being in this location I've run across several people who would actually use the term "******" as if were as light as any other word in the dictionary. I've also lived in Germany for more than a few years. No I'm not military. I lived in a german village of less than a thousand people and there I also found people who would speak of Nazism as if it were an adequate solution to a growing problem. Through my own personal experiences and through conversations I've come to believe that there are people who are equally as ignorant and equally as narrowminded in every corner of the globe. That being said, I've never, and I repeat NEVER been anywhere where i couldnt find someone that was an outstanding example of a human being. These open-minded concerned compassionate people also encompass the globe to its entirety. Anyway I just wanted to say I feel your pain, and even thought we may speak a different language and live in a different land, we are only different if we allow our minds to be labeled as such. I'm glad I got the chance to get a glimpse of what it is youre going through and I'll leave you with a quote "one love, one heart, so lets get together and feel alright"
As it was in the beginning.. so shall it be in the end.. *lights a joint and passes it to optimo* Welcome on board friend
hey optimo, thanks for your post. it's nice to have some actual posts from people who have enjoyed this thread and who made an effort to see my point without being blinded by patriotism. up until now i've only had private messages from other members telling me how refreshing it is to see a different perspective here, and also how informative it's been. it's good that more and more people are open to learning the reality of the situation over there at the moment. for education and discussion is the only way to end this madness.
Big surprise! http://www.trouw.nl/nieuwsenachtergronden/artikelen/1119502941030.html 2/3 of the autochtonen (native dutch) have no contact with allochtone (immigrants) during their free time. That is because there are no allochtonen in their neighborhood, but also because they rather hold allochtonen in a distance. This is indicated in the report “Out of One Another’s way” by the Social and Cultural Plan office (SCP). The SCP calls the situation “worrying”, as Turks and Moroccans have less and less contacts with the autochtonen. That applies mostly to Turks and Moroccans who were born in the NL. The SCP attribute the problem to the concentration of ethnic groups in big cities. Suburban municipalities must make housing available to city dwellers with low income – often allochtonen – in order to promote spreading. The SCP also attributes the lack of inter-racial contacts to the allochtonen’s choices of spouses; they tend to get their spouses from abroad. The import brides and bridegrooms usually limit their social contacts within their own communities. 70% of the Turks socialize predominately within their own community. Amongst the Moroccans, that is 60% and the Somalis 50%. Other groups mix around a bit more. Allochtonen who have no contact with the autochtonen have significantly poorer Dutch language skills and fare much worse in the job market. There is naturally little contact between autochtonen and allochtonen in the white neighborhoods. There are relatively more contacts in neighborhoods that are a bit mixed. However, in black neighborhoods, or neighborhoods where a lot of allochtonen suddenly move in, allochtonen and autochtonen seldom socialize with one another. Those with higher education levels are mostly more incline towards the Dutch society. However, they are at the same time the most critical about the social climate, a sign that their integration can stagnate. They too often have to face discrimination in the job market. From the report, it seems that how different groups think about the others depends on how well they know one another. Although, the researchers highlighted that autochtonen only really think poorly of the Moroccans.
*sigh* I'm getting a bit tired of hearing the same thing over and over again jason.. I know all those things you're trying so hard to say and so do most of the dutch people.. what optimo was saying is soooo true.. ignorant people are everywhere..
of course there are ignorant people everywhere, but ignorance and apathy are two very different things. besides, i know that most dutch people recognise the problem but most dutch people can't be bothered doing anything proactive about it. like i stated earlier, my desire is the inform the non dutch people, the tourists whom the dutch rely upon so heavily.
What do you suggest the average local should do about it? And what is this of use for the average 'one week amsterdam' tourist to know?
There's hardly an option to avoid multiculti isolation. It is so unnatural and forced to put all kinds of people in a gallery to watch art together (by example). Not of any use.
