you also have to keep in mind that hipforums is indeed just a forum. people come on here and type their opinions in quick little 3 sentence replies to someone else's little 3 sentence reply. it's hard to determine the full extent of someone's opinion on any subject with that small amount of information, so it will generally appear more black and white than it truly is. furthermore, people tend to overstate their position when arguing. for example, someone who may be only slightly apprehensive about the swine flu vaccines may come on here in an apparent panic over them, just because that's the way people tend to communicate. it doesn't necessarily accurately reflect their true opinion on the subject. also, people like to tell jokes, especially on HF. half the opinions given on here are probably almost completely made up.
I don't think there's too many people anywhere foolish enough to see the world in black and white (aside from maybe politicians), however, the average American even see their grays in extremes.
Only in America and parts of Europe (mostly the UK) do people consider everything not mentioned by the news as being some "conspiracy theory." In most other places it's pretty much common knowledge the world is run by conspiracy.
No I do not believe so I have not conversed with the majority of Americans I have not even conversed with a majority of United States citizens
I have found that most people in the UK are just as brainwashed, and probably even more so than Americans, especially when it comes to blindly trusting the system. I mean, British culture is pretty much based around the overconsumption of alcohol, sex, and tabloid gossip. Not a whole heck of a lot different from the US. In a lot of ways the UK is much farther down the tubes than the US. Everyday I am reading some bizarre story coming out of the UK about some Brave New World legislation they're working to put through.
Yeah, I don't see the point of judging all of America's views off of the nastier parts of the media (even if it is the majority) - hell, Jon Stewart is our most trusted newsman. Odon, you can't believe everything you see on TV
