Do A Lot Of Non Whites Think Whites Shouldnt Have Dreadlocks?

Pointing out and be fair and reasonable that we white people have been privileged in all of recent history and that it still has remnants in our cultures and societies is not a bad idea on itself. When you are talking about victim baiting and guilt mongering that is of course what I ment that it depends on the details. I'm not for guilt mongering or victim baiting, just for keeping shit real and let it be acknowledged how it really has been in our societies in the past and that it is not completely gone either.

When you talk about divisionism what are you worried about exactly in regards of white privilege month? Don't you agree it would depend on the details wether it is pointless or constructive? Is 'black history month' not a more pointless form of divisionism?

Pointing out double standards different people face here and there is fine. I don't mind black history month at all; if blacks want a month to feel good about black accomplishments in history that's fine, but it doesn't phase me. But when you devote a whole month of telling young naive college freshman that their white privilege is the only thing that will get them far in life, and telling students of color that society will limit them because they lack white privilege is a divisive tactic. It's also arrogant and bigoted to label who has had a tough life or easy life by the tone of their skin as well, especially if that's the only thing you know about them.

This is fighting racism with racism.

 

Most of the poor in the US are white. And yet, their crime rates are proportionately lower than poor Americans of other races. Oddly enough, one of the few places where crime by race is nearly even is among the wealthy Americans of all races.

If I was going to take cultural appropriation to heart, there's a Mexican restaurant and a Pakistani grocery that are going to have to lose a good customer. I'm also going to have to get my wife's Swedish car melted down and the Japanese car crushed. Then my Italian shoes have to go as well as my Turkish evil eye amulet.

Since Jane, my wife is Louisiana Creole, I guess I have to stop having sex with her. She already owns everything, so it will be a clean break when she throws my culture-appropriating ass out for good. And finally, no more anime porn! Oh well.

Really though, this non-issue is being used as a convenient excuse to shit on someone she don't know on the basis of race. It's a blatant display of hatred for someone just for being white. I have my doubts.

What's sad is that you know this kind of crap only happens nowadays. This is been probably the worst decade for black/white race relations since ending segregation, and mostly because some radicals have started brainwashing the young black communities into thinking that whites are evil and that they have the right and the reason to be racist by virtue of being "the oppressed black".

I mean, it really sucks. I always thought of racism as being on the mend for a many decades, but now it's seemingly back in style among the college-going black crowd. This is doing damage that will last a generation. Really sad.

I wonder how many people reflect on the cultural impact television and movies have had on them as well as telephones. Or do we assume technology has no right to be claimed culturally?

A hairstyle that's nearly as old as humanity is not anyone's right to claim or appropriate, it just is. What this woman did was wrong and clearly motivated by race. She's an ugly caricature of self righteous foolishness and was clearly itching for a fight. People who go looking for trouble like that get little sympathy from me.

While I don't think anyone deserves to lose a job for being stupid like this, I do think she is way overdue for all kinds of seminars and classes I've had to attend to ensure my cultural assimilation into corporate America. Theft, including cultural theft, is taking something away from others so you(r people) can use or own it and the original owners/users can't (or at least can't in the way they used to). Imitating something from another culture because it appeals to you for whatever reason (even if it is 'dreadfully superficial' solely for aesthetic reasons) may be called cultural theft but I think people are a bit oversensitive there where it comes to a hair do or a piece of clothing.
If it would be used intentionally to rob the original users of their culture or to deliberately diminish their cultural values then it would be another thing. But imo people can and should imitate the crap out of eachother if they have the urge. Other people can complain about it too (everybody's wearing their hair like me/my people but they're all do it for superficial reasons...!), of course! But I wouldn't give a shit in regards to dreadlocks. I would not have them to piss others off so...
