i feel bad for every ref. that's a tough job even if parents and fans were decent human beings, but they're not so it's that much worse.
I was taught "a ways back" that if a work team has people with different skills that it can bring different positive things to that team. I think that diversity, in general, can be a wonderful thing. It can suck though if people don't respect the differences in others or if those differences turn out not to be a good thing. I do think that some groups may benefit from everyone "being on the same track". I do think that sometimes businesses can improve by new input(s) from employees though too sometimes. I know that there are certain jobs that most definitely do well to have input from a group of people.
Yeah that’s the way it seems in this climate. Too often I’ve seen the word “racist” used in the exact same context as calling someone a jerk. The problem with using that word so loosely like that, is that it will become so overplayed that people may ignore it when there’s an issue regarding REAL racism. Instead of the little boy who cried wolf, it’s the little boy who cried racist.
I have also been called a racist, or even more often been accused of making racist remarks. But I know im not so I don't let it affect me like certain others on here. I simply don't put racism in a special spot. It's not the worst kind of discrimination. It's simply one form of how you can discriminate. But you can get called a racist also for making a joke. Here motivation matters. I refuse to stop making jokes with a racial inclanation just because people may call me racist because of it. Anyway, a positive note about this thread: i remember a similar kind of thread about diversity (i think VG started that one) where curiously enough lots of people were shitting on diversity as a whole. I'm glad to see here almost everyone sees and acknowledges that our strength as a society (wether its american, european or not western at all) lies indeed for a large part in diversity If you look at countries struggling to maintain their uniform majority with obligations and oppression its clear who's better off. Btw herein also lies the logical indication that a government can't obligate or force a society to become more diverse by any means imaginable. It would likely become just as nasty as those oppressive countries with uniform majority. But it seems we all see the benefits of diversity in this thread! Yay!
I saw no one argue against diversity on itself? Maybe i missed a page. But i noticed even the more deplorable forummers acknowledged diversity is good and nice, forcing it with unfavorable methods down everyone's throat is not. We may disagree on what are favorable methods. But as i read it not on diversity and its perks.
What makes you think I am "liberal"? I guess I call it like I see it. It's obvious what you think about various topics.
Problem with that is, who determines which methods are unfavorable? We both know there are people who are easily triggered when something as mundane as an LGBT character turns up on a TV show they happen to watch. To them, that's an unfavorable method that's forcing it down their throats. That's the "liberal gay agenda" regardless of the show's creators and their motivations.
That isn't forcing it down anyone's throat. Change the channel. I happen to think Ada Voss on AI is awesome. If he/she doesn't get voted on, he/she is still an awesome performer. Forcing it down our throats is forcing us to vote for he/her to prove we arent biggots. Even if there is a better performer.
I’m not sure. Many left leaning people identify as one. But maybe calling you a liberal might be too generous
No single person or group naturally. Together as a society of course. Reason and consideration will prevail.
