Linguistic? I believe that our enviroment is the greatest cause. In large cities you'll see larger numbers of mental ill then anywhere else. People need the sweet care of mother nature, not the rushing life of a concrete anthill. Just another prove that our society is a mess. It saddens me.
Because the language festering in the cities is unrefined, not put in place by intelligent minds, it's simply the by-product of accidental causality based on necessity of money. There was once a point in human history were language was conciously designed, and given to growing children, in order to have their brains only filled with that which will most efficiently allow them to sort out who they are. Today kids minds are filled with so many metaphors and words that hold no pertinence to there situation in sorting out there position in life, of course mass problems are going to occur. Just western psychology by itself is one of the single worst institutions of meta-programming to ever befall mankind. Not to mention, all the scientists and schools don't take into account how a metaphor will register into a developing mind. They don't realize new metaphors assimilate into a 50 year mind RADICALLY different than they assimilate into a 5 year old mind. Telling a 50 year old, matter is made out of atoms is nothing but a new, interesting scientific discovery. Telling a 5 year old your made out of atoms, due to the fact there is no prior, hardset, identity laid out in the childs mind, they will then take this concept of atom into self and identity. "I am made out of atoms" they will think, which does nothing but make a deeply rooted subconscious function in their brain which allows the definers of the metaphor 'atom' to further project more programming into the childs brain. Which in itself this manner of mind control isn't an issue, except, they don't take into account how a metaphor will aid a child in figuring out their position in this scheme of existence. You know they say, 'you are made of atoms' today, where in an ancient buddhist society they would say 'you are walking a path through life in divine order'. The latter would actually allow a child to understand whats occurring in their mind, whereas the prior will simply confuse them. Which with that brings me to the idea, all mental problems are linguistic. It's the product of laying down layers and layers of bad metaphorical understanding of ones position in life. To elaborate. Hallucinations aren't hallucinations, they are drawings. If the function of your brain that produces such phenomena is active, it's active no matter what. Now the way you pull that function of the brain into functionable, integrated, aspects of your life is via the language you attach to it. If your attaching the word hallucination to it, all you are doing is attaching a word that is invariably going to channel that function into allowing a psychiatrist convince you that you need to pay him a monthly fee for some tranquilizer. However if you remain firm that they are drawings, you simply end up with a really good sketchbook by the end of the month. And after a number of years of practice, you can possibly gain the ability to draw directly in line with the flow of hallucination which comes to you. Or in other words, become a really good artist. The institution of western psychology, science in whole actually, is giving out metaphors which don't allow the EXPERIENCER of the situation to accurately sort out what is necessary to integrate the innate functions of their being into everyday existence. There is no brain function which cannot be integrated with accurate conscientious application of the language used in relation to it. But scientists don't take that into account, they spit out which metaphor came to them from a microscope or a chemical analysis. Not the metaphor which came from the internal perception of the brain itself. They aren't hallucinations, they are drawings. They aren't voices, they are spirit guides. For another example, bipolar. Said to be chemical imbalance between a normal and manic phase. Lets flip that about to say, your mood is in alignment with astrological positions, chemicals fluctuate by position of planets both on the earth and in you. Right there bipolar is no longer a disorder, but merely mal-adaptation to ones own natural cycles. In the prior setup of language, bipolar is chemical imbalance, the person would have never even got the notion that the thing is adaptable, as western psychology would instantly propose your manic phases must be drugged out of you. Now about the word manic, they say your bouncing between normal and manic, lets switch that to, your bouncing between being grounded and being dreamy. You go up, into a dreamy, happy week think up all these glorious things. Then the following week, you come back into a grounded phase, having to focus on your job, work, friend issues, with all the prior weeks glorious high flying thoughts incapable of applying as they were too far from the ground. Which causes you to fall into a state of depression wishing to return to your previous dreamy, floaty week. Your still going to be going through this fluctuating cycle, but with the understanding that you are going between dreaming and grounding, no longer does it seem that you should drug, or minimize some 'maniacal problem' episode out of your life. But rather, work to integrate them. The completion of the bi-polar issue is found by spiraling the grounded phase and dreaming phase into a point in the center, not cutting one of them off. Connecting your creative to a means of sustaining your body. It's not a disorder, it's the gift of the aspiring artist. This should seem obvious what I just said, no? But to the teenager in a psychiatrists office, they come out of their believing they have a physical problem which needs drugs. They are doing nothing but teaching them to deeply fear there creative side. They are attaching words to the innate functions of their being improperly, their attaching words in a way as to enslave them into a money-making scam. Truth is, in the realm of psychiatry and psychology, disorders don't physically exist. The only thing that physically exists is the practitioners bank account. They're selling metaphorical constructs, just like a poem, a story, a religion, only with intention to grapple people into the belief they need a medication by the 'fact', the 'evidence', they have measured some brain chemical. Which is simply absurd, as they still haven't even evidenced the brain chemical is prior to the emotional situation felt. Personally, I think it's obvious that the chemical comes second to the thought. Thought is energy, it is electrical activity, it is an atomic function underlying the scale of molecular interaction altogether. Chemicals come second to thought. And what controls thought? The words you use, the words and belief structures you operate in your brain are quite literally, and physiologically, creating the chemical and physical composition of brain matter. They are implanting metaphorical constructs into the brains of people so their brain physically generates a problem internally that they must then pay someone to 'correct'. The entire institute of western psychology is a more evil and worse scam than even Scientology.
yeah i agree. disorder as compared to what? order? there is no actual order. there is no such thing as "normal" when concerning human beings. we're either all "normal' or we're all abnormal
I agree with the OP. people rely on excuses to be able to act in totally crap way and negate their responsibility
I totally agree with that. City life will fuck over anybody's mind. But don't you think the cities may have more mentally ill people because they have more people in general? Greater population means more people of all types, mentally ill included. But I completely agree about the concrete anthill analogy. Living with the land is much better for you than life in the concrete jungles.
ok i read this with interest up intill this point i was keeping an open mind about both siodes untill i read this and felt like i could go on no firther without shaking some sence into you i can understand what your seaying, if you were misdiagniosed or stigmatized by your diagnosin=s but to say that people must accept themselves and never seek hel;p is the most idiotic dangerouse thjong i ever heard let me tell u a lil something about some1 i care alot about she was born woith water on the beain her head was 3 times its normal size 26 brain surgeries later she wss never meant to live pat 8 minth never walk or talk but she overcame all that only to then be severely abused and tortured and yes she grew up to be 1 of the most intence ppl i eber ,met driven and insanelu talented shed had 8 careers and turned down millions before she even turned 18 (her and her twin had the olsen twins cointracts aty 7 but turned it down for her final surgeryshed also turned down record deals to avoid fame) all thats besides the point im just saying yes she had insane talent but she also has 3 distindct personaloties 1 of which tortutres her constantly forcing her to want to hurt herself shes fought the voices all her life fought crippling depression founfgt her inner selfwhich drive her to try to kill her tirtutrer every fiber of her being shed use to try her hardest to keep control shged sleep crammed into a corner twitching and many times a night jump up in fear ..no terror shed tried everything in her power to heal herself she was tortured by both the socirtoes infliences of her abuses but also the chemical and physical dammages to her braoin.. she was incapable of antythig close to normal relationships and you dare tell hger she should just accept it and live with these voices constantly scream, ming in her ear to do horridffic thongs to herself and everyone who tried to care for her? i understands w]]that maybe u feel your doisorder is bullshit but not everones is brains are the hardest thinbg to heal physical da,mage can take years chemical imballances mau only be treatable with cjemicals as much as i hatethem (i do agree aboytr 60% of the time they throw a pill at anon chemical issue) many so called disorders are not chemical imnn nature but many aee the mind is extremely complex and when something goes bad in it ignoring the problem can lead to disaster would we have the hotlers and bushes of the world if they hadnt ignored theyhre insanities? if they sought treatmeny instead of indulging theyre delisions would the world be so fucked up? you cannot throw a blanket statement out there like all disorders are bullshit simply because u feel misfdiagnosed
Ok, you're right, i didn't want to insult anyone by my statement, i'm sorry if i did so. I never wanted to claim that people "have to accept theirself without any help and guidance" .. there are indeed people who do need help, but still.. arn't there better cures then putting someone on meds or locking him up at a mental institution? Perhaps it is true that so many people are overdiagnosed.. people being put on meds (like rilatine.. anti-depressants) without any serious need for it. Maybe i should have stated this thread in a other way. sorry again.
