    OH! Pshawwww now!

That rings bells with me...like that's what I was told. Cause I wanted to go there...wanted to live there, in factamundo. I'm just as serious as I can be though. I really believe that is what I might have been told; although I rather doubt your little friend wants to go live with them.

Mythology is rich with tales of 'little people' and many tribal cultures today still believe in them. I read this fascinating book once but i'll just quote what someone else said:

"I read about beings called kontomble in the book "Of Water and the Spirit" by Patrice Malidoma Some a Dagara Shaman from Burkina Faso. He describes them as dwarf-like beings from another dimension/reality."

In the book his sister actually has a rather special bond and 'purpose' with these magical folk. As a part of his initiation he decribes having to concentrate on a tree, a palm i think, for days and days ... to merge with it or see it's true nature ... it eventually transformed into a green woman.

My favourite fictional little human-like beings would have to be the homunculi of sperm.

Yes, "Of Water and the Spirit" by Patrice Malidoma Some, ... he's stolen from his village at a young age and raised in a french missionary school, he runs away home at 14 and has to learn everything from scratch and undergo his initiation into manhood.

I have a book called Fairy Spells: Seeing and Comunicating With the Fairies. It is the most delightful book. Written by Claire Nahmad. Though she does have some cute fairy spells in it, it's the pictures and fairy lore that are so enjoyable. The piece you wrote made me think of it.

Do you still see them and if not, why?

no, i don't see them anymore and i can only speculate as to why. i guess i stopped seeing them when i was separated from my bestest best friend and moved to Florida. something hardened in me when she and i were separated and though Florida's environment is beautiful it just never resonated with me in the same way the northern woods did. coral rock, palm trees and palmetto bushes didn't and don't seem to harbor fairies for me and with out my best friend i just didn't have the heart for fairies anymore anyhow.

though once i thought i did see some little people forming out of the foam of the ocean surf. they seemed to be teasing the sand pipers. it was funny that i should see them when i did. i was attending dawn mass on the beach on Easter morning with my Catholic mother. she always did say i was the Devil's child. lol

PS. if you want to read a good fairy story read "Little Big" by John Crowley. it's a beautifully written, intricate and complex fairy story for adults. i reread it quite often. the ending(?) is so lovely that it never fails to make me weep.

last night there appeared before me
a light in the dark of the forest , like
the tip of a twig glowing strongly bright
and then measuredly , with conciousness ,
the light dimmed to z in a count of three .

    peace

this i took as a sign of peace unto that
too excitedly wild previous night in the
forest which involved seeing a much larger
light down in the holler .

    what happened ?

what happened ... on the previous night i experienced
a teleportation . by all the reason i can examine it with ,
it is a fact . distance : 300 yards as the crow flies . between
the two points the terrain was rugged - a deep ravine , the rise of the next ridge , a large springhead , its waterfall and stream , and the next ridge beyond .

the hop was seamless : i merely felt the sudden unfamiliarity of
    the forest trails .

yep , i'd begun walking up one hill , and came down another .
the only reaction i could muster was a pretentious bit of annoyance at
having to walk that much farther , down the hill , past the waterfall again , over the creek , up the usual ravine , and once again walk up the familiar hill-trail to my camp .

this was all in the dark by flashlight .

    ----

it's been a week or so now , with time to reflect on it . i'm at
a loss for understanding . idly , i speculate . you suggest any
ways i might think of it ?

i'd suppose seamlessness to be very important . too radical
a shift in perception could be a terrifying shock . like , should
i be playing a flute by the campfire and then , zoop , be
playing the flute by a similar campfire only faraway -
    that'd be ok .

    hi tikoo
I have been so lost in thought that I have walked way past where I have wanted to go.

    drugs?

    a shift in consciousness?

Windy, tikoo's account sounds to me like he got moved back to where he'd been walking a few minutes before, going in the same direction, so he had to walk through the same area twice to get to his ultimate destination.

Personally I have no explanation for such an event - unless there were two areas on the trail that are similar. However the terrain tikoo described having to repeat sounds quite distinctive. I'm sure he would have been aware of there being two passages with such distinctive features along the same trail.

    So in other words:

a road enters the area and a parking lot is near the waterfall . a footbridge crosses the creek (to the left of parking) and my trail to the camp begins other side of the creek and then climbs a ridge . relational to this upward trail - a deep ravine is on my right - over the next ridge is the waterfall - and beyond that is a third ridge - the valley and town are just beyond that one .

i climbed the first ridge and came down the third . i went downhill only once , and that well-travelled , easy winding trail down ended at the parking lot . once there , i again crossed the creek via footbridge and was on the deer trail home .

i think upon the Lights . there was two . on the night of the event was the fairly large one in the deep ravine . the second i saw on the following eve just as i arrived in camp and sat down - the little light that seemed so smart , and kindly .

twice is nice . an affirmation is a peaceful gesture .
it is peace unto exceptional reality .

i've mentioned this to a few friends . only one gave a heartful response " oh , the faeries been messing with you ? "
