the first time i curled my dreads i did this - http://thegeologyshop.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/curly-dreads.html

the last time (last weeks photos), i washed my hair, and while they were still soaking dripping wet, i group dreads into sections of 3 or 4 dreads, twisted them around each other and then spiralled them into buns. so i ended up with 12 or so buns on my head:

and then three days later i took them out of the buns, and spent a while de-tangling them all, and voila! really fucking crazy, medusa-esque curly locks :) hurt like hell to sleep on the buns for the first night, but after id gotten used to them it was ok. they were really springy, tres fun :)

I love the curls :) how long did it take for them to dry in the buns? i reckon mine would still be wet three days later if they were tied up, haha

i did it on the friday, i think they were probably dry by the sunday evening, but i left them in until we had to leave for the wedding on monday lunch time.

my dreads usually take a day to dry, and i did give them a blast with the hairdryer on sunday too. sooooooo probably two days or so :)

thats not too bad then. i think i'd rather sleep with tiny wet buns for two night then it down and wet for one night. i feel like the large surface area of wet hair creates its own yucky humid microcosm overnight.

yeah, i hate sleeping with wet dreads. i tend to wash them in the morning so they can dry a bit before bedtime! horrible having a damp pillow

I used to always wash my dreads at night- I'd have two towels on my pillow xD I much prefered that than have heavy soggy dreads through the day ><

I think drying issues are pretty much the only thing I don't enjoy about dreads. I mean theres the odd little annoyance but drying options are generally: go to bed with them wet; walk around with a wet shirt all day; or tie 7 years of hair up and get neck cramps. Still, its all a walk in the park compared to trying to style hair everyday like a large chunk of the population. If I could just sit and dry in the sun all the time life would be perfect, haha.
