Believe what you like... All I'm saying is that it's not always black and white. Why doesn't the US do anything about Saudi Arabia, that makes Iran look like a playground? A place where if any girl even dared to pull half the stunts the women in Iran pulled, they'd be stoned to death with their families watching without a second thought... I'm not saying that Iran is either right or wrong. All I'm saying is that things aren't always as they seem. I'm not trying to impress anyone. This is my opinion. take it for what it's worth.
I find it really funny that only now do all these liberals come out against Iran when the government has been just as tyrannical ever since the Muslim revolution.
That's deep, dude. And where are all the baby pigeons? Have you ever seen any? Come on if you have nothing to say about the topic, stay out of it. That's deep, dude. Your opinion seems to be that you are very smart, read counterpunch and see the complexities and nuances of things, whereas other people are dumb and watch CNN. As for Iran you don't seem to have much to say.
ok So because I don't agree with your thoughts on the issue, it means I got nothing to say? That makes a whole lot of sense. ok All I'm saying is that before making judgement calls on such topics, it's usually a good idea to get facts from both sides of an argument. I'll check out the website you recommended. I like seeing things through different perspectives and not only those that I choose to look at.
By the way, I regularly watch CNN... It's entertaining. I just won't base everything there is to know about the world around us after what I see on CNN... The more you know.
No, the fact that you need to say "well in Saudi Arabia...". What comfort is that to the young woman who was shot dead for protesting peacefully in Tehran? No shit sherlock. You're talking down to us like we're the dumb masses who get all our info from CNN and don't know any better. You don't know us and we don't know you.
dude wtf are you talking about? Who is "us"? This forum? your country? (would be hard to do considering I have no idea where you're from). Take a breather, Hiptastic. Relax. It's a discussion... You're right, I don't know you, and I don't know where you're from... So how can I be insulting the masses if I don't know who you are or where you're from? Again, no need to bite my head off for suggesting that things aren't always as they seem, and it would be a good idea to get both sides to any story... That's it.
by the way, to get something straight, what was done to that woman and many others who tried to have a peaceful protest was horrible. I would never think otherwise.
Im wondering how the nuclear program in iran is coming along while we pay attention to all this.. Theres always something more sinister in the background that we dont see.. The rest of the government is as it aways was.. Im sure they havent halted any work towards proliferation..
I think we should be more concerned with what's going unexamined in the US while we focus on Iran. What real reforms have been instituted to prevent another meltdown with Wall Street? What's going on with the healthcare debate? Why are we bombing Pakistan when we haven't declared a war on them? Things like that. We haven't even dained to talk to Iran in eight years. And we've threatened to bomb them, now we're all hot and bothered because the election didn't go for Mousavi...how much do you know about his history?
I think we all need to chill about the Neda story. I think a media that thinks Twitter is something new and miraculous kind of got the story all mixed up while trying to use the new technology. http://www.inquisitr.com/27088/that-picture-of-neda-everyone-is-using-its-the-wrong-one/ Funny isn't it how the story has now fallen off the Main Stream Media, but I haven't seen any Mi Culpas yet. And it wasn't Twitter caused the confusion it was Facebook. I watched the video and my first question was why that man was pressing on her windpipe? I thought she was shot in the chest or stomach. Where is accurate news coverage when you need it.
You should be more worried about Israel's aged Dimona nuclear station. Iran is a signatory of the Non-Proliferation Treaty Isreal refuses to admit they even have the capability. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/01/gaza-rockets-put-israels_n_154694.html
Oh I see. Don't talk about Iran. Don't talk about protesters being murdered, tortured, arrested, persecuted. Don't talk about their cries for freedom and democracy. Don't praise their courage or condemn those who try to shut them up with force. Close the thread. Lets listen to gardener whine about the oil price instead.
Let's talk about it but not at the expense of everything else. Let's discuss it like we did the Chinese surpressing the opposition before the Olympics, or US citizens being murdered during them. Freedom and democracy are empty terms if they are used by marketers. Let's find out the truth about Neda. Like Rachel Corrie run down by Israeli bulldozers, let's weigh the hype against the truth. Let's at least post a real picture of the actual woman killed. And let's continue to post that Iran signed the Non-proliferation treaty Israel hasn't.
All of those were talked about when they happened, but it doesn't lead into context. None of those were going to country/world changing events that could set the course of politics for years to come both there and abroad The Iranian state news agency itself has said at least 17 people have been killed, I don't think we need a picture
Why is Iran seen as a world changing event when the deaths of monks in China wasn't seen as important. Iran a country the US and Israel has threatened for years. Have you ever heard of Howard Baskerville? Some of us have and we also know Moussavi and his history. Let Iran set their own destiny without world opinion. The only reason this is seen as more important is that what was happening in Tibet prior to the Olympics is because US money isn't wrapped up in Iran today, but you can bet they want to be. This is an Iranian fight not a US media lead campaign. US corporate interests want another Shah, but is that what the Iranians want?
Yes, lets not say anything bad about Iran or your idol Ahmadinejad This is the democracy in Iran thread, get a clue... Things like what? anything but Iran is what you really want. # lame attempts at derailing this thread, knock it off, its getting to be a bad habit from you. Why? Do you thing enough time has passed to let her go, whats your limit ,72 hours? No the "Story" isn't mixed up, somebody posted the wrong pic on a blog, other than that the story is spot on. Uhm, i seen the man holding her on both sides of her upper chest, more than likely to keep her from convulsing My first question was, why her? what did she do to deserve being fatally shot? Chest, very close to her heart. Well, it isn't twitter, facebook, Huffington post or inquisitr. You want a link to the video? Someones posting of the wrong pic in NO way changes the story, sorry . And IRAN has been found NON-COMPLIANT ,doesn't that matter? And lets not forget Iran is non-compliant with the treaty, it's one thing to sign and follow rules, Iran has ignored every request from the IAEA,,, let's not forget THAT!
The video I watched the man was applying pressure above the clavical cutting off the windpipe. Chest may be close to the heart but applying both hands at the base of the throat just doesn't compute. The fact that pictures of the wrong woman are all over the internet and news, although the media has stopped with their false reports just proves someone doesn't know how to check our their sources. Fact is Iran signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act Israel hasn't, and won't even admit to having nuclear arms although violence after violence is perpetuated over their protection of their aging site. Hey maybe Chalabi wants to serve as the new Shah.
