Caregiving for an aging parent is certainly difficult at best.

    Thanks for my morning laugh.

I would like to point out that the old witch can go live with you then! You can keep her!

Rainy, dreary day here. I'm spending the day in the library anyway, so I would almost rather it be gross outside like this... less temptation to leave.

The crowd that is waiting outside 5 minutes before the library opens is always an interesting mix of seniors and rough-looking middle aged men.

I told my wife that when we get old like that we are going to commit suicide instead of dealing with our kids.
Out of 6 of them, there are only two we are confidant won't just stick us in a home somewhere......LOL

plus I don't want to be around if I'm losing it and not able to care for myself any longer.

So it's been raining off and on around here and the dog has been getting a bit stir crazy because we haven't been going for our 3 walks a day.
He gets all wound up like spring gonna pop....LOL
It was nice yesterday so we went and did some errands and then went to the park. All good, he was full of piss and vinegar as expected, but mellow.
So we start to head back to the van and then see some lady with her little dog. Buddy of course notices and wants to start heading that way, I tell him no so he walks towards the car.
Now Buddy has this bad habit of not looking where he is walking if something has his attention. So he is powering along at a good pace the whole time with his head turned around so he can keep an eye on the other dog.
Just when I tell him he better look where he is going he walks right into a bench...HARD.
The look on his face was priceless, he was like "Where the fuck did that come from!!
I literally fell on the ground laughing.....[IMG]
Wish I had caught it on video

So then last night we went out for our evening walk and I'll be damned if he didn't do the same thing and walk right into a wall because he was very concerned about the cat across the street...LOL

He also has a habit of walking as close to cars in driveways as possible so of course he clunks his head on trailer hitches and crap.
Oh well, he has a hard head.

don't know why but I just thought about the time when I walked up to the corner liquor store with Buddy and tied him to the newspaper stand outside when I went in. A minute or two later I hear all kinds noise and commotion and the store owner starts freaking out and yelling.
Seems Buddy wanted to follow me into the store and dragged the entire newspaper rack into the store LOL

This why I own a dog and a bird. I pretend I am talking to them. :)

Aeri, I was doing not too bad and then I went and did something really stupid. I decided to clean my oven and it is not self cleaning. I sprayed it and then damn near collapsed. Spent a few days struggling and cursing. I even threatened to buy a self clean one for where I rent and my sister kindly pointed out it would not cure my being stupid. :)

Lynn, damn but you have your share. I am sure you have enough character by now.........I sure hope life starts to settle for you soon. Big hugs!!!!!!

You know what's frustrating? The shepherd at my parents does this when I'm around, but never when he's in the regular routine without me (when he gets only one big walk a day and knows what to expect). He's basically trying to play me as a fiddle. Of course there's a compliment in there when he gets all jumpy and crazy when I'm around. It's just that he is that more demanding too. He's clearly more at ease in his regular routine even when it means less attention and action.

2 syrian families have been brought into my area

they keep calling them syrian refugees but the truth is they are from lebanon...they are syrians who have already been settled for 2 to 3 years in lebanon

the "iman" or whatever they call it islam leader of my area that cordinates these refugee choices is lebanese.....

    smells fishy doesnt it?

most of the first wave of refugees will be coming from camps in lebanon, because they have already been screened by the UN and are ready to go. others who have more recently fled will come later, because it takes time to screen them.

at least, that it my understanding of the situation.

When we were 15 my partner and I decided we'd kill ourselves when we turned 40. Didn't want to be old like that. Only like 12 years away now, eeeeep

Asmo...they are the Hampton inn hotel that I stayed at yesterday/this morning. there was actually cool air coming out of the heater and I couldn't put on the heat because they screwed down the cover where the knob is.

got pics of the damage done at work. saw it in daylight for the first time and it was worse than I thought. some guy at the plant I am helping at said he heard it will be 4 months before they are up and running. after I saw the damage today I say that is bullshit. but I asked one of the construction workers that were there near the cranes that they brought in and he laughed at the 4 months and said they didn't even start working yet.
    will post pics later.

It's amazing how much a second hand iPad is worth on eBay. I sold my iPad finally last night on eBay. It was listed for 10 days but they only started to bid in the final 20 hours. I got 280€ out of it, and that seems like half price of what I paid 3 years ago so I'm pretty impressed. Of course it came with original box and cables and a Belkin protective screen, but I'm still quite impressed with what I got. :)
