Hmmm... meat is bad for your body, especially red meat. I don't eat red meat except on extremely rare occasion (like when some asshole puts it in something and lies to me about it)... oh anyway, but like someone else already pointed out all veg diets are not healthy. I know a lot of vegetarians who eat junk food all of the time. And all of the processed foods aren't good for you, they are full of chemicals, and yes I agree so are the animals even fish because a lot of them are farm raised. Unless you are buying organic everything, which is expensive and in some places hard to find or if you grow your own garden (oh what I would do to be allowed to have a garden... but no renters can't have them).

Anyway, my point is that we aren't all going to agree here, because no one is absolutely right or absolutely wrong. It is all a matter of personal choice. Plus, I really don't think that this is the place for this thread when there is a whole vegetarian forum. I understand the discussion started out as health related, I suppose, but it wasn't specific and it is quickly turning into a debate.

Fruits and veggies do contain some pesticides- that's why organic is best.

But eating meat isn't chemical-free.. What do you think they feed the (captive) animals? They feed them grains that are sprayed with high amounts of pesticides. These chemicals bioaccumulate in the animals' bodyfat. So there is actually a large amount of it in them... and you cannot wash it off like with some fruits. Also, to keep these stressed animals alive, large amounts of antibiotics are mixed into their feed.

...And this is a spiritual thing- but I feel that the pain that went into your food has a detrimental effect on your soul. Your body is a temple, and if you choose to put the byproducts of suffering into it, it could only have a negative effect.
