I have endo, and I get HORRIBLE cramps, and backache from it before and for the first few days of my period. I like to use a heating pad, or if I am out (or working) I will buy those heat-therapy pads that stick onto your undies in front of your uterus. I also am perscribed painkillers, but I can't take them and work because they make me drowsey.

I used to get no cramps but a really heavy flow for the first couple years of my period. Now for the past 2 1/2 years, I get them so bad that I have to come home and sleep. Heat makes them worse, medicine doesn't do a darn thing, lying stretched out, flat on my back doesn't help...the only thing that helps is sleep, even if for only 20 minutes. And I don't get cramps just in my stomach. It aches all the way from my shoulders, down my spine, into my stomach, all the way down to my knees, so I can hardly sit or stand up/walk without feeling like I'm going to fall. I hate being incapacitated and feeling like I'm going to die, every month! I miss a lot of school that way...I envy you who don't get cramps or only get a little cramping that goes away w/ a pill!

I get cramps in my tummy back and legs. They got worse when I got my IUD. I take 1000mgs of calcium with magnesium and zinc daily. I drink rasberry leaf tea when I have them and take cramp bark. A bath helps but as I am travellin I cant always get to a tub. I have mostly cut out caffeine. Sugar is supposed to be bad too. Evening primrose oil is sposed to help, and black cohosh but I dont take those yet. I dont eat meat and wonder if it makes it worse. I do all that and they are still bad, but not as bad as they could be I spose. Last period I visited the monarchs on their migration and that def helped.

i totally sympathise that exactly how it feels for me.

Also... this is a bit crude but after sleep, a big poo always follows :S the pain doesnt go untill i have pooed. my period all ways begins with a super big poo aslwell..i cant work out why.

The only reason this is signicent for me is because i have a strange digestive system where i would usually only poo about once or twice a week (twice at the most)..(i have been to the doctor about this ut she said althought it would be unhealthy tro happen to a normal digestive system mine has always been like it so its not a problem)

was that too much information?? i hope not. i was actually wondering if anyone else found that this helps too? or knew why it would help, i guess its soething to do with the preasure around there.

if i get cramps exercise is the only thing that gets them either gone or easier to cope with, walking, or situps usually coz im not very active, but they just do the job. unless im trying to sleep and its the middle of the night then i have to give in to the drugs. i hate taking paracetamol but sometimes its the only way.

also a while ago i was really anaemic and i got super cramps for weeks permenantly until i started taking iron tablets and vitamins properly.

actually, im getting cramps sitting here tlaking about them

i tell you what really doesnt work, trying to ignor them, ive succeeded in ignoring headaches and stuff so i dont need drugs or anything but cramps, cant stop the pain

    bleugh, bad stuff

I take Aleve Feminax, which helps pretty good. Sometimes I still get bad cramps but on the whole it's the best I've used. Even for this I don't like using the max dosage so that's probably why I still get them sometimes... When I was on a weekend trip in November I took a lot more than usual (still not over the max dosage, but I didn't wait until I felt the cramps return before taking the next pill either) and I had no trouble... I just don't like taking that many chemicals when I'm doing normal stuff though, not even for cramps.

Does anyone else here agree that cramps are the most intrusive, distracting and bothersome type of pain there is? I can't speak for anyone else, of course, but I've got a pretty high tolerance for regular pain. I've smashed my finger between a boat and the wall and never let on 'cause I didn't want to cause a distraction, broke my little toe and walked 10 miles the next day, stepped on a bee (it died), torn a tendon in my shoulder & a few hours later stated that it felt kinda weird and maybe I should get it checked out, got bit in my finger to the bone and thought it was interesting when the doctors in the emergency room showed me how the epidermis had stripped right off, ate chips on the day I got two of my wisdom teeth pulled, and I could probably go on for a while like this... It never stopped me and only slowed me down slightly when there really was no other option.

But cramps? I just don't feel like anything but sit in the restroom, or lay in bed... I can't ignore it, I feel bloated, nauseous, often chilled, miserable all over... even if the actual pain isn't bad at all. I'm just unable to ignore it, maybe for a few minutes but never for long. I suppose it's the whole hormone thing that's messing with me at that time of the month... :(
