It flopped in 1966 driving Phil Spector into a seclusion for two years. It stopped at number 88 on the U.S. charts. Deep Purple released this version in 1968 which beat out the original in the charts reaching number 53. It's a ten minute progressive rock song with lead singing by Rod Evans.
