When the facts are, time and time again, that we have a very racially fucked up system, and a lot of cops are highly racist (lots of other bad things too, but we're specifically talking about race here), and a lot of times there's even less justice for minorities than whites, and a lot of times cops act with even more impunity, it's not wrong to see the pattern and then predict that things that fit the pattern might...... be a fucking part of the pattern.

Not every single one that looks like the pattern is the pattern - but that doesn't mean it's wrong to see the pattern or speculate on things that look damn similar to that pattern.

There is no direct analogy to fox news or to warmongering. We simply don't need more war, there is no war in the last half century (and precious few before that) that has made us more safe, only those that have made us considerably less safe and considerably weaker and less credible as a country and culture. Calling for war directly hurts america, no ifs ands or buts. Assessing our giant "criminal justice" police state situation and racial injustice, and speculating on patterns and how they might signal that certain things should be investigated, makes us stronger as a country, because self-evaluation and critical thought about our policies and our authorities and their actions and the justifiability of those actions makes us stronger.

Talking about our problems, even in a heated way, is not bad - it's the only way to improve things. Calling for war and generally inducing hysteria about situations that pose no credible threat to the US improves nothing and hurts everything.

If I hear someone got shot and killed in a police raid on their house, it's pretty reasonable to assume that they're innocent of all wrongdoing, and that even if they were guilty of what their house was raided for, it was only pot (which obviously should never result in a raid, or a drawn gun, or any police involvement). Time and time again, this is the pattern - it's not law enforcement baiting for me to notice this, it's just recognizing the reality that we live in and the problematic patterns that need to be changed. Maybe sometimes I'll miss one and the cops might actually be in the right, but on the whole, it's totally okay to jump to that conclusion (consider, for instance, the man recently murdered by florida sheriff's deputies - shot in the fucking face, while unarmed, as his house was raided for weed, when he had no contraband whatsoever).

Our entire criminal "justice" system has lost it's credibility, and race is one of the areas with the most problems. Fix the fucking giant problems, and then maybe people won't assume negative things about police. There is a culture of racism, violence, crony-ism, coverups, unjust laws and prosecutions, extrajudicial executions, and the like among american law enforcement - applying what we see about police to stories about police is not baiting anything, it's fucking logic.

*edit* also, I have no love for CNN, they're pathetic corporate/government stooges for all I generally see, but if they're going to actually say something bold or meaningful instead of their general fake neutrality, that's a positive thing.

People who think they're going to beat the system by stockpiling guns and ammo are the biggest morons of all.

America has more guns than any civilization in the history of the world. There is no sign of that trend doing anything but deepening/accelerating. We have a very armed population, armed with very deadly weapons.

The government buying ammunition or guns is alarming, but not because they're about to come knocking on your door - they have enough guns, they don't need any more. It's alarming because the lobbiests for the same companies that want you very scared of everything so you buy a lot of guns, are also convincing the government to buy a lot - we have giant numbers of weapons from bullets to tanks that the pentagon literally doesn't want or need, they (the corrupt bought-off (I mean "lobbied") legislators) buy them and let them sit. Our war industry wants them to use them so they need more, but if not, they're happy to sell them all they'll buy without using them, too.

Of course, that same industry wants the police militarized, it's big business. The police buy guns from the same companies you do. They arm all sides, and the more they do that, the more guns everybody buys.

The UN is the US' way of shoving the whole world around. The UN does what we want, and if they don't, we do what we want anyway. The UN is not about to knock on your door - you know who UN soldiers are? They're US soldiers, and when they knock on doors, yeah, they don't speak the local language, but they DO speak YOUR language. We are the world thugs, not the victims.

Yeah, there is substantial danger of being thrown in a prison and raped in the US, but it's not by the UN, it's by the police, who have been sold the same game you have - everybody buy guns and be very scared of each other, and then buy some more guns, and so fourth. They don't invade and throw you in prison, they pull you over with a roach in your ashtray and throw you in prison, no standoff required.

They have hellfire missiles.

Even if they wanted to come for you like that, playing their game is the worst possible approach - the only option is to try to change the game.

But that's just the false dichotomy that those in power sell, to better sell their guns (and similar crap).

The choice is political activism and change, or a future of darker and darker enslavement for all of humanity - but it's not an invading force, the game is to keep you thinking that you're free and that you'll do anything to keep it that way.

The best slave thinks he's free and acting of his own free will.

Remember CNN's coverage of the Trayvon Martin incident? I'll bet they used the word Skittles a thousand times a day. Half the time, they seemed to be implying that he might have been murdered just for carrying Skittles around. The other half, they seemed to imply that no one in possession of a bag of Skittles could possibly be a bad person.

I guess they think we're all as stupid as Don Lemon, the most moronic male news anchor in America. He's almost as incompetent as those airhead blond girls on Fox.

The only good things on CNN are their early morning show and Anderson Cooper.

People who hold signs in protest get pushed around it, never does anything but make people angry because others agree, which only allows more police forces to come in.. its a loose loose situation, pushing the people back. Those who act creating in their own act make change. The problem is it creates war. Most good citizens... they cant fire against the gov.. They talk and want change, but it doesn't work that way, and honestly if anyone thinks words tell a bully to get away vs breaking their jaw has not been bullied. Some kids on the play ground say... don't do that!!.. Some walk up and give them a fist.. very few children to that too... same principal is with gorwn adults in today's society...we are fucked man. I refuse to have children cause they would just have to deal with all these cowards.

Most people don't even know how to fight man. And I mean fight, a real fist fight. They don't want it.

Now their too much power in a one hand and we have soo many laws we don't know how to deal with it.

Well you fucking pussies (decades ago) should have done something!

You let it pass and now we in deeper water than we can get ourselves out of.

Broony, I would love a pet elephant, too...but imagine the craps to clean up every day....:D

elephants are beautiful animals....and feel all of the emotions we do and remember every little thing, too....memory like an elephantt....
I heard if you pet an elephant very gently...he/she will remember that for always and years later seeing you again...after so many years of not seeing you...and only seeing you once...will remember. isn't that amazingly awesome? I was blown away when i first learned that.
they will also remember any cruelty.

Yea elephants are amazing animals. IN parts of the world they are very symbolic.

I also wouldn't have got a ticket from that cop if I was on elephant... cause you don't need seatbelt to ride one -.-

As long as "change" doesn't mean more pathetic freaks in dresses and third world illegals on a race pass there might be a chance.
But nothing is sweeter than having the very people you want rid of most voting for it their own selves. I have come to accept the bitter irony and dark humor.

CNN is only being honest and upfront about the race problem in America and inevitable war between blacks and whites.

The results of the justice department probe of Ferguson MO is just a microcosm of a much larger problem.

Five current and one former member of the Ferguson police force face pending federal lawsuits claiming they used excessive force. The lawsuits, claim that individual officers separately hog-tied a 12-year-old boy who was checking his family mailbox, pistol-whipped children, and the use a stun gun on a mentally ill black man who died as a result.
