Oh wow you can't make this shit up - A reporter asks Sanders if he is being sexist for continuing to run against Hillary http://freebeacon.com/politics/nyt-sanders-sexist/
I had thought they were reporting that she's the presumptive nominee. I wonder what the word presumptive means?
No matter how the voting goes today, Hillary will still have the majority of the nationwide popular vote, and the majority of the bound delegates. It's mathematically impossible to change that now. And the superdelegates are not going to tell the majority of ordinary voters to go fuck themselves. By small margins, her superdelegate totals are actually growing every week. The convention will be an easy first ballot win.
I have a big vocabulary but thank you for making sure I am all brushed up on my SAT words. You don't think it is shady as fuck to declare her the presumptive nominee before several states have a chance to vote. I do. We disagree and that's fine. Also, the article hotwater linked said Hillary has the delegates to win already. I was pointing out that she does not.
Maybe the superdelegates should have been saying, "We won't make up our minds until after all the primary votes are in" but they didn't. If the news networks had conspired to keep the numbers a secret from the public, it's all over the internet. Most superdelegates have been openly posting about this on Twitter and Facebook. It's public information. Anybody can verify the totals.
The statement was made that the media has called the nomination for Hillary Clinton. They haven't. Then the statement was made that it's bullshit and the media is pulling some kind of dirty trick to "prevent" people from voting. They haven't. Three people then jumped on those statements by "liking" them. No mention was made of the use of the word presumptive by the media which would completely destroy the charge that the media is biased in favor of Clinton. She is the presumed candidate based on all current data. Trump is the presumptive nominee of the Republican party. Neither are yet the nominees of either party, but based on all available evidence they will be, and the media reported it as such. When we leave out words we can completely change the meaning of the sentences that had previously contained them. Now I could be sarcastic and say that doing so in this instance is bullshit and a dirty trick to get people to think that the media is biased...but I won't.
We can debate what the media has or has not done. You can argue forcefully for your point of view without being condescending or sarcastic. I don't see any reason to think that Melia was jabbing at you personally, so I don't think it was called for.
Exactly. And having false memories of sniper bullets flying past your head while on a plane doesn't make any sense either.....because it's bullshit. If she really does have memories like that, I'm not sure if I want her to be the one with her finger on the nuke button.
I don't think she was jabbing at me personally either. But, I must apologize as I just watched CBS news and they did say that Clinton has "clinched" the nomination. They did explain that they were including the super delegates, but they never used the word presumptive. So I am wrong on that account. I still don't think it's media bias, just sloppy reporting. But I was wrong.
No, it's not over, and this is the sad fact you Clinton people don't seem to get. It's not over for us. We're contesting the convention. Fact. Superdelegates DO NOT COUNT UNTIL JULY 25th. She has clinched nothing. And the fact that you and the media keep saying that she has makes it 100% more and more likely that we will NEVER vote for her, or even vote for Trump.
You won't have the votes to do shit at the convention. Young Sanders supporters are starting to show their age. You hated the concept of superdelegates until you realized you couldn't win the popular vote. Now you love them, but only if they are obedient to you. Those individuals are political veterans, not easily manipulated. Sanders will be lucky to get 10% of them. Then there's this obnoxious attitude of, "We may be a minority, but if we can't run this place, we're gonna burn it down." I'll bet you'll consider yourself to be greatly mistreated when life-long loyal Democrats start telling you to go to hell. I'm starting to seriously regret voting for Sanders last month. I like his ideas, but I'm learning to dislike most of his supporters.
I have to agree about some of the Sanders supporters. I also voted for him but this sore loser attitude of some is really sickening. I'm hoping Bernie is magnanimous and pulls strongly for Clinton considering the alternative.
Actually, I know many life-long Democrats....who are not kids....who are retired or near retirement.....and they are telling the party to go to hell. So it's easy to say it's just the stupid kids who don't get it...but it isn't just them. You can't say that young people don't show up to vote and then blame them for the outcomes being close. People on both sides are sick of the game and the political establishment is paying the price for it. Acting like any of us are stupid doesn't help you. I have a friend who is nearly 70 and is a life-long Democrat and her point was basically "What didn't they understand in 2008 when we said we didn't want her? Do they think we will like her now just because she's a woman?" That came from one of the most liberal pro-woman people I've ever known. The DNC has grossly misunderstood it's influence with the average person/voter. That's your problem, not independents who were willing to vote Dem at one point.
You're the one making it personal. I'm not talking about disliking anybody for this or that. You guys want to tell us our votes don't mean shit, ok, we'll see what they mean.
And, by the way, the reason we're not supporting her is because she is a shill for Wall-Street and billionaires. It has nothing to do with being a sore loser. It's that we genuinely feel that an oligarchy is wrong. We genuinely think it is wrong to take money for your private organization for arms deals. We genuinely think it is wrong to lack transparency with the American people. We genuinely think it is wrong to put American lives at risk by setting a standard of breaking State Department regulations. But by all means, keep making this personal, Clinton supporters.
I can't say for sure but she's a very smart woman and if I had to make an assumption...I think it was pretty obvious that she was talking about the party elite who think they have the right to rig shit to what they want. I think you might find the problem there.
