Bernie is probably America's last chance to have a true hippie President. He has all the right positions on the issues. All he lacks is the full beard and ponytail, which he can grow after the election. ;)

If only. Bernie has to survive the Clinton machine. Obama was too obvious a target so they caved and accepted the consolation prize, Secretary of State. This time around the only "minority" candidate on the democrat side, is Hillary. Folks, she's IN. I just hope Bernie doesn't have a mysterious heart attack or end up like Vince Foster. But after watching him deflect bullets for her in the debate, I think he'll be fine, in the Clinton cabinet. The only thing that could ruin it for Hillary now is if a "Wise Latina" decides to run as a democrat!

Tonight on SNL, they brought in Larry David to play Bernie, and he nailed it!

I don't think it's anywhere near settled yet with Bernie and Hillary.
We have a while to go and if Bernie broadens his message a bit more, he could easily pull ahead.
Especially if he details his lifelong work for civil rights for African-Americans and gets more than the current pittance he has (8%) with them.

Also, I can't wait to watch SNL... I had to DVR it, but am really looking forward to seeing how it went down. :)

If I couldn't have a Republican in office I would take Hillary. There's no doubt she would be more of a Republican than Sanders. I think it would be wonderful if the Dems put Sanders up and the Republicans put Trump up there. Let the two extremes battle it out. But, if that happened, we would most likely suffer a Trump presidency.

I don't think Trump would get as many votes as you seem to think he would.
Even against Sanders (who I think would have a good chance of winning any matchup).

And if you're that set on a more conservative candidate, Jim Webb is dropping out of Dem race and may switch to running as an independent.
In my opinion, he's would've made a great Republican candidate... one people could actually respect.

So we're back to this now that Biden has officially backed away. All Biden could have done was siphon votes and confuse the whole democrat field. He would have been the Perot factor though as a VP he basically "deserves" the shot. If anything Bernie has been the Perot actor, except he's not playing with charts and infomercials. But that would only apply if there was an actual contest between Clinton and Biden, which was only ever a hint that has turned into a wisp. So now Bernie has a singular focus. But after the debate I wonder if his heart is really in it?

I know what you mean. He's been way too nice to Clinton. Then again he's a socialist, and socialists don't like competition. They practically invented participation trophies.

Personally, I like a candidate that isn't an attack dog to the others in the primary.
And he's right, I am sick of hearing about her email... unless something important comes up, it's just noise.

And there's no doubt that he has a shot at getting the nomination.
I know Hillary is way ahead right now, but there's plenty of time for that to change and change and change again.
Can't really call it this early.

Plus, it sounded like Biden was basically supporting a Bernie nomination more than a Hillary nom.
At least, going by several of the comments he made in his speech today.

IMO. The field is set. The writing was on the wall when Biden stepped out; or rather, given his orders.

It pisses me off when media people say Hillary has clinched the nomination, before a single person has voted. Chuck Todd was saying it yesterday.

If Bernie can appeal more to minorities in the next few months and if the 18 - 34 age group shows a strong presence at the primaries then I think he stands a fair chance.

If you can connect communism to socialism, it makes the EU the same as Soviet Union.

  16. I'm the same way about anyone who says some element of science has been "settled" and is no longer available for debate. The beauty of science is that it so readily admits when it's wrong as a matter of course. Politics has no right interfering.

It'll also be interesting to see what the results are from his talk at the DNC's Women's Leadership Forum.
I caught a little bit of it and (of course) he came across really well and had a lot of crowd cheers.
So, maybe he'll get a bump from them.

But you're right on the minority front.
I wish he'd take the time to detail his work on civil rights, specifically for African-American/Black rights.
I could be off on my timing, but I'm pretty sure he was getting arrested for fighting for civil rights around the time Hillary was positioning herself for a strong Republican role.

It's crazy that this isn't a well known history at this point.
And it's not like he just marched safely at the back of a line, once upon a time.

The man has gone to bat multiple times.
Gotten in trouble with the law more than once.

He is SO the real deal it's bewildering!

hillary owns what used to be the republican base, before they went tea loonie. back when they could still look themselves in the mirror and keep a streight face calling themselves conservative.
in other words, the business as usual candidate if there ever was one. bernie ownes everyone else. so yah, its all down to who votes.
the clown car at this point is a side show, though always a dangerous one.
i say keep them guessing between hillary and bernie until the last vote is counted. keep their mud machine from gaining traction until it has.
