Even amongst a lot of jews (non-orthadox) circumcision is beginning to be seen as an outdated custom. There are several organizations that have webpages that are excellent starting points for jewish parents.

Personally, I can find faults with a ritual and have nothing against the religion. It's not personal, and I have a truly GREAT respect for judaism. Circumsision, not so much.

It's also less common these days because it isn't free anymore because it was deemed unnecessary.

I agree. When people talk about it reducing the risk of infection, or the risk or contracting AIDs, I think people against circumcision argue the wrong way. I read an article in Mothering magazine a while back about the AIDs thing and they went on and on about how it's not true....I thought, why don't they just say, "Yeah, if you completely remove the penis, you can reduce the risk of aids even further....but we wouldn't do that."

"I got my son circumscribed so he wouldn't look different than daddy. I also got him a little fake mustache and glued it above his penis with super glue to make it complete."

    ROTF!

My husband and I chose to not cut our son. He is the only boy I know who isn't cut. He's a teen now and has had no problems with it though we were warned he'd have infections and so on.

    BS!

    Hey:)

NO, circumsision is not necessary. Many kids aren't circumcised and are totally normal.

Although there might be certain conditions that come with not being circumcised, one of which being Phimosis (aka Tight Foreskin) where it's painful to pull back the foreskin.

It's nothing to worry about, it can be treated with a (fungal?? I think) cream.

Just teach your son to, ahem, clean Junior properly and there shouldn't be problems.

    Hope I helped,

My husband is inclined to circ our little one, should we have a boy, so he'll look like dad and brother (not my biological son). This from the man who goes along with family cloth, home made toothpaste and absolutely no routine medical intervention at birth.... When are they going to be comparing? Family reunion?
Anyone who is considering circing should watch it being done first.

Careful with the cleaning of uncirced babes. Agressive pulling back of foreskin can cause scar tissue to build. Scar tissue has much less to no elasticity compared to the original tissue and can cause pain with erections and intercourse later. This is one of the reasons for the misconception that circing should be done to avoid problems later...

Who's body is it? The owner of the body should decide on any and all cosmetic procedures. Seems simple.

It pisses me off SO much when theyre like "aww hes getting grumpy"...Wouldnt you be fucking grumpy if someone was slicing bits of your penis off, doctor!? Its revolting and I dont know how anyone could stand there hearing those cries if it was their own baby, knowing this whole thing was unnecessary and just so they could "look like daddy"

    Circumcision is mutilation, simple...

There is little difference between the practice of it and the practice of removing a girls clit, something most people seem able to understand as wrong.

The idea that not being cut leads to infections and such, comes from parents who are either too stupid, or too lazy to make sure they clean their babies correctly, and don't teach their boys to do so themselves as they get older.

The foreskin is there to protect the head of the penis from drying out and losing sensitivity, much like the hood of a clit. When you are cut, the head is totally exposed 24/7, that means rubbing on your underwear or clothes, blankets.

Before anyone decides to get their boy cut, they should ask themselves just what is it that makes them want to mutilate their child.

Anyone who says something like "I want to do it so my son looks like the father", is a sick fucker who should be beaten to death.

Would you suggest cutting your child's arm off if the father was missing an arm?
