i was smoking for about a year and a half, having health problems and at around a pack a day and i quit cold turkey. didnt smoke for around a month or so. i havent bought a pack or smoked more than 2 cigarettes a day since january. its usually out of boredom. people always get hooked at the younger ages. i suggest you just stick to weed, crack, meth, heroin or whatever else you can smoke that there is a point to. tobacco is a waste of money as there is no high, only cravings.
im addicted to the act of smoking. i have never smoked in my life and dont plan to (ciggerettes). But pot... well, haha. Yeah. I can give up pot, but i find the act of smoking something hard to stop. Very hard.
Smoking anything can have a very surprising effect on your performance physically. I used to weight train alot, took it quite seriously, did pretty well, i started smoking weed on a regular basis and i stopped lifting for a long time, it wasnt that weed made me too lazy to workout, it was that i had less and less capacity for breathe, and less and less indurance because of this. I've been clean of weed for over 2 months and i workout every night, I noticed a big change after the first 2 weeks that i quit, everything became easier (physically). Weed's great, but everything in moderation right? Not smoking weed at all is lame, but smoking it too much is also lame. Take buddhism to mind dude, the middle way. I know we're talking about ciggs here, and i have no experience with them, but if weed smoke could change my performance that much, then wtf are all those disgusting and horrific chemicals doing to YOU my brother?
pot smoke will negatively impact your lung capacity and physicaly performance (i think), but it's definitely not like smoking cigarettes. i train very hard in karate several times per week and i play soccer about weekly; i also smoke pot every day. now, i have to admit that my cardiovascular system (lungs and heart) could be in better shape, but i'm still pretty damn fit over all. now my friends who used to play varsity soccer would get high all the time (even for the games) and they could run like the wind, nonstop, for hours.... i should look more into this, but i'm pretty sure that cigarette smoke constricts and collapses the lungs whereas pot smoke doesn't really.....
i smoked since since i was 16.. and for maybe 2 years i was like.. i don't know how anybody could get addicted to cigarettes! i can quit whenever i want.. then i went to college, and i would smoke a pack a day, and i have yet to cut down, and even quit smoking cigarettes. moral of the story is.. quit smoking before you get too heavy into it, or you'll probably smoke for the rest of your life! ok.. i'm goin out for a cig now see ya :tongue:
Just bought a pack of parliament menthol full flavors. They come with a yay sniffer! They taste good. I don't smoke that often and am quitting.
I am quitting cigarettes for the third time. I am home from school right now with a killer migraine. Quitting is easy for me, the hard part comes three weeks later when your need for a cigarette is gone but you still want one so you let your guard down and give in to "just one". Next thing you know you're smoking half a pack a day again, and thinking about quitting...it's a viscous cycle.
why do people ever start smoking ciggarettes in the first place? is the buzz better than pot or what?? the only time i've even had a pinch of tobacco was when i was passed a spliff by some of my friends who smoke both weed and cigs. the damn thing made me cough so hard and it tasted terrible AND it made me feel nauseous. they all say "yeah, it burns better with tobacco in it," but i roll straight joints with weed and i've never had a problem with it not burning properly.
Nah man. I don't even get a buzz from smoking cigs. It may EXTEND my weed buzz, but there is no buzz in the cig itself, unless it's my first cig of the day and I hit it hard as fuck. Also, Black & Milds will make you feel pretty high if you hype them and inhale them, smoking the whole thing.
i quit ciggys. i still smoke when i'm drunk. i would smoke after a joint to make the buzz a lil better. if i smoked on an empty stomache, i'd feel a little something but in the end, theres no real point to them besides they relieve a lil stress
same here. if i had more then 20$ to my name (which i'm buying booze with tomorrow), i would go buy a pack of smokes, which is something i swore i would never do again. i've been strung out since the pot stopped
I don't understand why your girl doesn't want you smoking, but doesn't mind if you drink. That's just odd. It's way worse than weed is.

y'all do know that nicotine is a potent stimulant, right? physiologically speaking, it doesn't calm you down at all; the "relaxing your nerves" thing is purely psychological. i hear that your first ciggarette gives you a decent buzz and then after that it becomes pointless. in my opinion, unless if gets me really stoned for at least a few hours, then what's the point taking nicotine rather than just smoking pot? peace.
ciggs kept giving me a buzz for two years. now its only if its like the first in a while, and im drunk or on speed (thats teh BEST omg any sort of dopaminergic stimulant + cigarettes is really enjoyable). i would like to make some informings in this thread. first, the act of smoking is pleasurable for two reasons. the first reason is that, you are getting nicotine into your system and this goes into your brain and tells it that whatever you are doing at the moment is the right thing to do. you dont get addicted to the nicotine perse, but you get addicted to the act of getting nicotine in a situation. for example, rats did not show any self-administration of nicotine unless it was paired with some sort of extra stimuli, like a visual image. so, people can get addicted to smoking when in certain situations, eg, with certain people, at certain places, while on certain drugs. people often can go for a while without feeling the need to smoke because they only smoke in certain situations. but then they start smoking any old tiem and the situation that is linked with smoking becomes more broad and diverse that it starts to affect you anywhere. second, the act of smoking is an act of consumption. there seems to be a great feeling of relaxation from consuming things, be it eating, drinking, smoking, etc. as for tobaccos affect on the respiratory system, it is quite simple in the main respects. thc dilates the lung vessels. marijuana still deposits tar but it comes out too. with nicotine, its different. nicotine does two specific things that caus your lungs to shrivel. first, it constricts your lungs so that they hold less air and catch more particles. second, they cause the cilla in your lungs to stop working. these are the little hairs in your lungs that rhythmically wave along and pass particles that are in your lungs, like tar, out of your lungs. so when these stop working, and are under high levels tar, they get clogged and work even less efficiently. ive felt myself want a cigarette but never get real pissed off if i dont have one. im getting worried, but i dunno, the best thing besides quitting i think is to just smoke when drunk or on drugs. however this can actually compel someone to drink just so that they feel alright smoking.
