QUOTE: Mouse do you remember when I assisted you in reconnecting the electricity to Oak Street. The first time you just jumped the meter. The second time you went up on a ladder (with me behind to assist and resplice the wire that PS&G had cut from the pole to the house.

Hey, Brother Zev, yea it was street survival, and we had to use all the creativity and smarts we had to keep going. Oh, by the way, it was me & Pisces Bob who did the cement job over the water meter at the White House after many back and forths with them shutting off the water, then locking the meter, etc etc. We got tired of it and.... the meter "became one" with the side walk. Also, after 'they' had done a similar boogie with the gas to the house, and finally pulled the gas meter, Pisces Bob just ran a straight pipe and the house had free gas too!! Bob was an engineman aboard the "Midway" and knew how to jury rig when he had to. I wonder where Bob is. He was GREAT!

Also, somebody else had rigged up a standard telephone with wires and alligator clips that could be hooked up to one of those Ma Bell cluster boxes with all the kazillion wires and plugs in the basement of the "White House", and we could call anywhere in the world for free!! That White house complex was as unique as the people who lived in it!

Tough one to find. A Chicagoan to be sure and with the name Robert Lewis... Ouch.

And Burned Out Bob almost killed me for real. I was under a '54 Pontiac replacing a trannie (gearbox not sex change) and he was up top just hanging around. I needed to raise the chassis and didn't want to crawl out from underneath the car to do it. I asked him jack it up a bit more. As soon as I did I sensed something amiss. He touched the jack and I scooted out of there pronto. Good thing I did 'cause the jack collapsed and the car crashed to the garage floor. I almost took his head off. I will say this in his favor. It was the first time I saw him get in touch with some kind of reality. He left GE that night.

Oh, Mouse. You bring the bad with good. Debbie DC chased me around for months wanting to be my woman. She finally just flat told me that she wanted to be my old lady. And I had to flat out tell her no way, no how, to leave me the fuck alone. And then she asked me why. I had never had to be so brutally honest as I was at the moment.

And Frances? Wow! Well before her time. The Colonel Kilgore of women. To quote Capt. Willard, "He could go through all the shit and come out with never as much as a scratch on his ass." That was Frances!

We were on the street in front of Cole Street playing touch football and Leonard gave an elbow to Burned Out Bob's mouth during a running play. Bob is standing there bleeding from the lip and says to Leonard, "you can't do that!" Leonard turns to me and says, "Spud, that's how you play the game right?" I said, "ya, right."

I seem to recall someone saying that Bob migrated to LA and got a job in the film industry (of the adult kind). Don't know for sure.

Yes, I remember Frances-- WOW, a hot one-- in my rambling days I tried like hell to get to her--- not a chance, but a good friend. She respected Dana too much. That was when I was an ass about relationships. In the process I ruined a good one. In my own defense, events were happening so fast I could hardly keep track of my ass, and didn't take the time to cultivate that relationship, and didn't take the time for a personal relationship much to my own deteriment-- you win some, you lose some, and some get rained out.
At that time I didn't want to bring any children into this world until the revolution was over--- how naive that thought is today when I look back I was then--- you cannot change the past and maybe only impact the future- circumstance and ours and other people's efforts have lead us to another critical point in humanities evolution.
We, you and I are at another criticl junction in humanities evolution. However, this time, for myself, regardless of what happens I'm going to take the time to cutivate my love, care and concern for those I love.

    RANDOM THOUGHTS
When I first came to GE I lived in the big 3rd floor room with Debbie, her baby and the Hat. He was. I believe, tapping Debbie (At least he did the first week I was there). If ever there was a person without a clue it was her. Blond and not bad looking but lost in a fog. I wonder what happened to her and her kid. When i was tgrying to set up an organized Dinner meal plan for the family she was the only one who couldn't understand the advantage of communal cooking an eating. Getting some of her food stamps from her was limke pulling teeth: even after the system was functioning fro a while.

Frances was NICE. Was it for her (or was it for someone else) that Trike/biker Aries(?)Tony built a porch somewhere in Canada (Some place back East) using only a mallet and a chisel. I have a protrait of Ojibway Suzie somewhere. Someone in the familyt painted it. Was it Ken? Mouse you're 100% right about joing wiht you or Leo Ron on any kind of work detail. Brew, Boo and lots of laughs made even scut work an experience. And sometimes we even made some money.

The work was always so rewarding. Didn't matter how laborious it was (garbage or recycling runs, moving furniture, painting, etc.) we were doing it for ourselves. That in itself was a gas, and to do it with the sense of love and loyalty to one another made it that much more special. Self-sufficiency running at full speed. Something severely lacking in general in today's world. Frances was obviously aware of her external attributes yet she had no arrogance about it. One solid sister if ever there was one. On the flipside no moniker fit as well as Debbie's did.

Steven, live and learn, huh? I, like you, inherited the amorous Sag gene. Both a blessing and a curse. There's a great line from "It's A Wonderful Life" - "Youth is wasted on the wrong people." In my case, absolutely 100% right.

Debbie asked me if I would be her old man too. It must have been after you let her down Bill.

One day, I was working in the garage and she walked in and asked me if I wanted to come over to her room with her (she was living in the back of Cyril's Haight Street art studio which was right next to the garage on Haight Street). I said, "sure."

We're in her room on her bed and she tells me she's pregnant (not by me mind you) and then asks me if I would be her old man. I thought about for a minute and then I respectfully declined the offer and went back to work.

OMG!!! I came home for a minute from capping last night and my chihuahua had 5, 9-11 puppies..how am I to give 911 puppies away?!? I'm goona change their birthdays to 9-12..I hadda come back this morning to check on them., then back to the lake.

On the drive from the lake..5 minutes away.. I was thinking of why I wanted/needed to find y'all so badly.. I was not obcessed, just really really wanted to re-connect with my family.. Here in Texas, I had no bond with the ppl here. I became my hubby's family, his friends became mine.. But there was always something missing..We have a good life, a good home and family and friends that love us.. even count on us to be the mainstay of the family.

Lynn, my hubby, was born n raised here. He knows everybody in this little one horse town in the heart of Texas. Even with all the ppl n love around me, I felt something missing.. a part of me not whole..I yearned for my friends that I had bonded with there at GE.. I wondered about them and searched for them. I needed closure, to know that I was once part of something so grand that it stuck through the yrs and when Spud showed up it opened the floodgates. Spud knew all the Oregon ppl and put me in touch with more family. Then Ranger came forth and the dam burst..Ranger had a list of email addys two pages long..It was he that really brought us all together. He has really put a lot of effort into reconnect us all.

Now the stage is set, the lights are on and the cameras are rolling.. I have found my closure. Then I thought, wow, if I was looking for it, so must others be looking for it too. Then when Dana came in and Steven you were able to release all that guilt and feeling bad about it all these yrs. I realized, what a wonderfull thing.. and for others that had finally been able to realese all the wonder and what ifs. To regain the security of the whole again. That we do still hold what we always held and that even time itself could not hinder. For here we are in all our glory telling the tale of yeasteryear and how we conqured the world and it's establishment.

It seems to me that as we arrive here in our little part of the hippie house in these forums that our strenght returns and maybe we are here for a the turnning of the minds of men. Something is calling us to join together, to regroup ourselves and to pick up where we left off to finish our play in the final outcome... Our 'vibe' is still needed to get through the looking glass. We are all alright, you me all of us are alright.

We are for sure gonna hafta bring ourselves all together again to fulfill our phropacy in bringing peace and shinning love to the earth, our mother. We are here for a reason beyond being men/women having homes and family, having work to do.. but something further more meanningfull then just existing. Why else would we come pouring like we are.. We are distine for something higher.

Well I had better get back out to the lake or I'll miss breakfast :)

    Love Love Love

Yeah, but is was a "New York" minute.

Remember the old "gangster" cars that Kid, Sleeze John and Breeze were buying, fixing-up and selling? I remember helping to fix-up one of those (I think it was a 1938 yellow Olds). Breeze sold it to Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy (Airplane/Hot Tuna). Jorma and Jack wanted to test drive it, so I got to ride in the back while we tooled around the Haight in the gangster car.

    Hey, Girl,
It is you who many of us need to thank--- you, Ranger, you say Spud, and others not yet named--- turn, turn turn spinning wheel just keeps on turning. Your either on the bus or off. A few of you kept the bus runnin.
I hear you. No matter where I was the cosmic connection reached out to me. I too was at loose ends. I've always connected my rebirth to the early days when the Good Earth vision was forming. Cyril and Jimmy Mac, who many didn't know, and others. It would seem we need a list of our brothers and sisters who have gone on before us in the Great Book of the Journey, So those who come later know the heart of the matter.
Because we are still here, we know it was real. GE is among the list of extended families who came before us and after us. The ties that bind us all to the cosmic consciousness.
Tell your ol' man I'm business partnering with an ol' Texan-- Tim Walker-- the World grows smaller. Mamas' and children are the future, us men are here to make sure they and we survive.
A part of the vision of the Good Earth was not only a safe zone for the people coming to SF after things turned ugly, but as a place for our babies to be born and to know something other than "the system."

Mouse I do remember salvaging from Playland with Leo Ron (Driving Meg) and I think Kelly. I also remember going with Kid and removing a good chiunk of the irrigation sstem from GG park and bringing it up to the ranch in my old econoline van. That turned out to be very useful in the garden. Just thinking about the ranch brings back memories of waking up in the cabin and lighting the wood stove and seeing the dew lift off the hills and then taking my freezing ass back under the covers as soon as I could.

Steve.was it you I ran into in Cuzco Peru. I know it was someone from the family but I just can't remember who. I know that we were both astounded that the other was there. Thr huge guy who wouldn/'t let me into the back of the cave unitl soemone from the familoy recognized me and said let him in.

`` Seeing as we've all been, at pne time or another, dumb shits, you're probabably right about not coming down so that hard on Debbie. I guess she was just looking for a little love and someone to care for her on what she perceived would be a more direct connection than just the family as a whole. The one conflict , I think, all of us had to deal with, at one time or another, was between selflessness and selfishness - family and self.
