Church of the Good Earth 1963 and Beyond

Thank You Zev...and thank you Family for stoping by and making life a little more bareable.. for taking the time to reachout and embrace the past and connect it to the future. A time to remember and laugh at our innocents as we blazed a trail through the Universe.. we were the Stars of our time.. we are part of History, we made history.. We were not out for fame and fortune.. we were there for the Love.. WE were summond, called from an inner source that was undeniable, irresistable.. a sublime yearning enveloping our very being... How unique we are. We were/are the Cosmic Pioneers, as truely we were the first. We conqured the mountain as we climbed to the top... We visited 'other' worlds of the psychedelic nature from the inside out..... I often wonder, if we were a giant experiment of the Spiritual kind, and the mind expanding psychedelics created a 'wormhole' that we traveled to take a peek on The Other Side, searching for our Spirits..........We all showed up.. we gathered worldwide.. all at the same time... we gathered in certian areas by the thousands.. we were ready... but ready for what.....Most of the children, as we were back then.. myself but 16 alone but unafraid... called by the rythem of the music that beat like drums in our hearts...We gathered in the streets and in the park..The neighborhood all but abandon, with empty houses and buildings waiting for our ocupation.. we filled them and made them our own... bringing them to life once again.... It was all free, it was laid out for us to utilize, we paid no rent, no utilities, we had free food, free clothes.. a freer' mindset... We had a purpose..it was much bigger then we ever imagained..I know as I did, everyone one of us felt it, we were all designed to do this very thing with out question.. by knowing and following the 'Vibes' that pulled us all together, to acomplish what we had come to do.... It was a call to Unite and Love one another, love the Mother Earth and all her divineness.. The times were heading for destruction, with so much negitive energy being created by the machine.. our job was to balance it out with the Love, and positive energy that Love brings.. Together we joined our energies and we were so strong we reached a frequency that penitrated the Universe and tamed the negitivity with the force on a viberational leavel that created a shift in consciousness.. We woke ppl up to the injustic' of the war, racisum, equaility, materializum, poverty and government control.. we did all that.. our collective 'voice' was heard.. we did acomplish what we were called to do... we are still doin' it.. by living productive lives, loving eachother as the bond binds us in comradery of what we shared in bringing forth The Happening.... That was really touching, Shameless........the ideals/innocence we had then. I think we may have led the way for the indigo/crystal children who came after. I don't think about those times much anymore but I just relived it by reading your post and wondered where all those years went. Life is different now and we are older but a part of us will always remember how it was, back in the day...... Wishing you and your families all a happy holiday and to be thankful for all that we have been given.

 

The yrs drifted with time my brother.. we grew as our experience grew....With the City turning into a babylon of it's own.. we branched out to biuld our homes to raise our families in.. once we realized what it was we had come to do.. and accomplishing it.. it was Time to start living the dream we were sent to awaken others into. We went to the country.. our roots.. our connection to Mother..We cultivated Her and persueded Her to yeild in abundance, bringing forth sustanence to provide for our needs.. our children playing joyously in the meadow, with the open sky to grow under.. Our dreams manifested as we saw ourselves fluerish and in our humbleness, we found our little bit of peace on earth.. My heart swells with love as I see the shinning eyes of my brothers and sisters that still remain.. be they in they city or in the country, or somewhere inbetween.. we are all where we are suppose to be in the Now of it.. As I light a White Candle for us all. I wish all, that your dreams come true.

I am still too full to type. Full of too much turkey, pie and cranberry sauce. The day was full of bright blessings and cheer, family snuggled close by the fireplace, sipping hot coco with tiny marshmallows floating on top.

I sigh as the blustery wind plucks the last leaves off the old oaks standing tall in the meadow, joining his fellows that caress the Earth in a blanket of love to keep her warm against the Winter's cold.

I feel that blanket of love here, protected by time itself. The Bond that has kept us together in Spirit, that brought us here together to share one more song.

Hi everone,
I am in a 'special' mood right now (thanks Diane so bare with me if you please.

Me n Spud was talkin' the other day, we were trying to come up with a way to keep the forums growing and fresh. Pictures are a great way to connect ourselves back together again. I have seen some great pix that warm my heart in recalling that time in our lives that was so unique unto the ones that lived it and lived to tell about it.

We were talking about maybe sharing how we all became aquainted with Good Earth

The things we shared in common, our pioneering the age of aquairius in the beginning of a new millinium, with bells on, ever forward, together. What drew you

I remember how beautifull we were in our tye-dyes and jeans our leathers and our lace. How young and vibrant we all were in the spring time of our youth.

Our ladies in long skirts and colorfull scarfs, our hair loose and flowing freely. Smiling faces as broad as the horizon as it meets the shore at sunset. The men in their bellbottoms and narue shirts with bright shashes around their waists some in jeans with torn knees, sandles, boot or barefootin'. No matter how the dress, the smiles were the same, the eyes widened with phsychedelic visions, peeking over and through the box we hatched out of.

I ended up at the Good Earth Commune while I was living in a flat below one of 'the houses' that GE ppl lived. Me and Jomie lived there the time of the Big Bust in 71'. I shared the flat with Patty and Bill.

I believe it was evening but not dark, but don't hold me to it. Anyway we, me Patty, Bill, Jomie, and their baby Billy were fixin to eat supper. Suddenly the laws come bustin' in the back door of the kitchen where I was cookin, with guns drawn. They were lookin' for Panthers. We were freekin'.

I told them we were not afiliated with any Panthers, which we weren't. I did not know that upstairs was indeed Panther country. I begged them not to take us to jail, we had no drugs or firearms, we had babies. I guess my pleas were heard bc they did not take us.

As we watched them haul ppl into the street, the houses up n down Cole and Oak, we saw the women being dragged and babies being torn out of their arms. Men being pushed and yelled at, some getting smacked with billy clubs. I saw them take Boogie and stuff him in a squad car while they loaded everyone up in a couple of paddy wagons. There were mammas and babies crying, I ran out and asked one of the arresting officers if I could take the babies. I couldn't stand to see them take the kids to child haven.

To my suprize he said I could so I asked the mamas if they wanted me to take them and they agreed to let me have them and told me to take them to Kittens at the Hole In The Wall. I delivered them safely to Mama Kat.

Patty and Bill moved shortly after that and I moved into underhouse as it was consences that I was underhouse material. Me and Jomie lived there for about three yrs, we moved around a little now n then but still kept residence at that house on Cole till in middle 70s.

Most of the old ppl had moved to oregon and other parts of the universe, some remained. But the GE itself from what I saw dismantled in the late 70s. The last time I was there was in late 77'. I have not heard anything about GE after that as far as still being active in The Haight.

Well that's my story and I'm stickin' to it, no need to incriminate anyone

Well, that about covers it! *LOL*
That night I remember we were coming back from somewhere and I pulled over in front of the Blue House meaning to stop in for a sec and I made it about half way up the front steps and saw the 'pigs in the parlor'!
Exit stage left!!! We went on to our placea block down Oak St. and began calling Bondsmen and Tony Serra our family lawyer.

 

And the arrests (for those who did not jump bail) were dismissed because the reason the cops gave for the raid was that they could see weed on the living room floor at 1915 Oak. Of course the window to the living room being some 20 feet above the sidewalk that reason wouldn't fly. As I understand it , they also did not go past the back door of Oak Street over to the Cole Street house becasue the sound of rifle bolts clicking in the darkness was, I believe, very discouraging.

I arrived at GE shortly after this bust. My brother Mark ( aka Magic Leo Lighting Sunflowers) had told me about it ( He later came out with his soon to be ex girfriend Sunny). I had met Stacey in NYC. I also new Larry (The Hat) Lautzker and Howie Rosen who were business associates of the family in NYC. I was still in school researching and wrting my thesis on "The Obstacles That Stand in the Way of the Left's Success in America".

Shameless heifer did you by chance know Tommy Hall? From the elevators....I think I remember reading he was in that.

 

I do not recall a Tommy Hall or the name at least. Did he have a nickname, or something to remember him by. There were literally hundreds of ppl coming and going from house to house and it was a stoned enviroment to say the most.

Zev your memory astounds me, it awakens so many sleeping emotions. How magnificent we were in our glory daze. We stood up and we commenced to wake up america. We were indeed Awesome in our will to make change. We were the Warriors Of The Light, to bring in a new consciousness evolution for the benefit of mankind.

We gathered in the streets and in evry part of the world at the same time. We joined our power stations and shone a becon of Light that reached the Universe and anounced our arrivel.

We sent our Love Vibration on this beam of light, we set ourselves free from the macine that kept our grinding slavery ever oppressing human condition. We Tripped The Light Fantastic as we danced in the street in celebration of life and the persute of happiness.

We took The Majic Carpet Ride with Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and reconnected with our higher selves. We brought a new way of being human back into humanity. We did it with love. Some force but love was what movated us to do the doing that we were sent to do.

I guess we did it cuz it got done. Not in the totality of love peace and harmony universaly but with in our ability to do what it was we came to do. The changes our movement made in scociety. We accomplished the part which started the change in consciousness ie: Being Awake, what you are conscious of. We brought an awakening to sleeping rememberences as to why we came. We handed out doses of Spiritual Enlightenment to all that would partake in it's message.

Those ones of us left, we still carry the message, we hold what we have learned and the lessons yet to come we are ready to recive and advance to the next level. I feel we are the batteries that kept the wheel in motion. The ever changing of mankinds development.

Our children are grown and we bounce our gandbabies on our autheritic knees and tell them tales of The Hippie Way and the changes that will come in their lifetimes. I pray it is an easier one then what we lived.

> Little Gypsy Dave had jumped head first out the window of a bathroom on the upper floor for reasons known only to himand broke both arms as he landed on cement. (His story of being hotter than a $2.00 pistol and wantedin several states as a revolutionary later proved false when he was aressted and released later...) When he landed folks from Cole came through the back yards and pulled him out of there (hence the sounds of covering arms being readied) and got him to our family medic, Doc who was a Nam Vet and a combat medic.

 

I don't think Tommie was around at that time, for two reasons. First I didn't run into him and secondly the woman I came out from Houston with was Scorpio Kitten who was a close friend of Rocky Ericson's and I would of most likely heard something. On second thought I did hear that Rocky's people came outo see Kitten about that time, but nothing about them being around GE. Like SH says that was a very fuzzy time for many of us. LOL

 

Hazy, Lazy, Daze fer sure. I found a couple of folks around that were involved in the many projects that GE had going. They took part in GE without even know it was a GE project. Like The Food Conspearicy, The Recycling Center on Haight Street, Our Head Shop, The Christmas Tree lot The Switchboard and several others I can't remember right now.

Does anyone have any pix of these places we had going. I'm afraid all my memorabilia was destroyed when my mama's house burned down in 81'. Diane has some good ones. She brought a couple of them with her. She showed me one of Herman and Victoria and herself in Canyonville, it really brought back some old memories. She also saved all the letters that she got from the ones who wrote.

Diane will be coming in shortly. I'm sure she will be posting some pix when she figgers it out. I believe she arrived at GE in 72ish' so all the pix would be after that time frame. I'd say we were at our peek around that time.

Lots of recalling and warmly smiling on ourselves.

There are some things that we would all like to forget in our lives, but these very things is what gives us character and builds us into who we are. The things we did in our youth were our classes, our lessons in life.

Damn so you actually knew all those guys? Was Tommie really manipulative and fucked up like alot sources like to hint to? Do you have an opinion on how much he influenced rokys inevitable decline in mental health?

Do you think theres a chance roky might just still be faking it all, like he did when he went to court, and somehow just fell into doing it all the time?

If you could have seen him 10 yrs ago, youd know he wasnt fakeing it. I dont know where you live or your status in life, but if you know anything about mental illness, and you'd seen him on the city bus,when noone was lookin after his best interests, no meds, ect,ect, then you wouldnt even ask that question. No he wasnt fakeing it. Thank the Great Spirit he is doin so much better with proper care.
