It's nice if it is that way. I didn't really have the choice to help out when growing up.

Having to walk over and lift the needle on a record when you want to skip a song.

Going to the actual bank, utility service providers office, post office, ...or mail cheques, etc, etc, to manage or acess your money and pay bills.

Do any chores exist anymore? I dont know THAT MANY people with kids, but out of all of em, only one of them makes their kids do chores. And its more like stupid stuff to teach them to work for their money. IMO $10 to take the garbage out once and pick up your toys is a bit crazy.

LOL@ the changing the channel. My dad used to call me from the otherside of the house to change the channle. The remote would be just outa his reach, but he wouldent want it, he'd rather call me 10min later to come change it again.

Dad used to make me earn my allowance-50 cents pushing an old lawn mower over the whole lawn. I'd take my 50 cents and ride my bike downtown to the TG&Y ,and I'd spend it on 45s........for you younguns, that's a single record played at 45 rpms..

when I was very small, my mom used to make me wash or dust all the old coke bottles so we could take them to the general store (i grew up in what used to be the rural south, so general stores were everywhere up until maybe 15 years ago when the BPs and Citgos started moving in) and get 5 cents for every bottle. Glass bottles became pretty obselete before I even made it out of childhood, so thats a chore I only did for a couple of years when i was really young.

Damn, and I thought I was bad because I wait till I'm asked to do something before I do it, and then sometimes only do it when I'm finished doing what I was busy with before I was asked...

when i was a kid my dad had me do lots of chores, and help him remodel the house.
my dad never gave me allowance, he said if i wanted my own money i had to find my own work. so i worked for people around the neighborhood to make my own money.

it was kind of a bummer when i was a kid to always work so much - but now i love to do that kind of work. and now i never have any problem finding work or making money. because i learned so well how to do things for myself, and be very proactive about working.

i really like doing my dishes by hand. i have a dishwasher but don't use it.
washing dishes is a sort of a meditation for me.

I wash dishes by hand because they just come out cleaner that way.

and you have to get them half way clean before you put
them in the dishwasher so what's the point? might as well
finish cleaning them and skip putting the harsher chemicals
    into the earth...

For sure. It's pretty nasty to be eating something amazing that you JUST made, and then find something crusty on your dishes... Totally kills the mood.

Thinking doesn't exist anymore. I remember before the Internet people thought. Those were the days.

Asking the operator to put you through to Fleetwood 54789.
Stacking 45's on the spindle so you can listen to more than one.
    Doing math without a calculator.
    Shelling peas.
Getting coal out of the bin for the fireplace.
    Wringing a chickens neck.
Come on young whippersnappers. You can do better that wash the dishes.

You know how much of a boner kill it was trying to watch porn on VHS? If you paused at the good parts the screen would go blurry, if you missed a good part you had to wait while rewinding it.
