Well rolling is in Canada and I'm not in America either. :p that's why I use a VPN cause some sites are country location only, like fox sports streaming.

    top lid or front load?

ive never worked on a front load so i dont know where the switch is

top load is easy theres a button on the lid that hits a switch thru the hole...slamming the lid will break the switch off inside

stick finger in the hole and feel for a click

kermit the frog says it could be a coupling...

i suppose a bad switch would stay quiet just no spin...but a broken coupling would make some noise

Hunkering down for this massive snow storm that is about to fuck us right up the butt. Ugh. I'm nervous at the prospect of us losing power, since the temperatures during days following the storm will reach below 0 degrees F.

youll lose more power during ice storms, not so much snow.
snow blackouts tend to be isolated to small areas and easy fix. i wouldnt worry..

i love blackouts in the winter

mostly because the neighbours who complain about the chimney smoke are freezing their arses off..there are only 3 or 4 houses i see around here that have wood stoves for backup

I remember my country house. ice and snow storm took out the power and phone.. before cell existed .
my house sat alone tho. I was far away from people. I just loaded up the fireplace and sat in the room with a lantern.. all the other rooms were iceboxes. but they were most of the time anyway.

i could burn in my stove if i absolutely had to in a lengthy black out....problem is it is disassembled waiting for the new plates but if i had to i could manage with the old plates....they aren't broke but are warped a good 2 inches....must have been some of the iron wood....fucking stuff burns white hot....not sure which tree its off but maybe oak

i think its the coupler too because it makes noise

a bad switch you just hear the pump emptying it out and then i think it quits ...no noise

no plates in my stoves that i know of..its old style cast iron lined with fire brick,,,,,acorn voyageur

I remember we lost power once for 3 or 4 days during an ice storm growing up. It wasnt much of an issue because we had a wood stove for heat but it was so eerie at night, the house was completely silent and all you could hear was the crraackkk of limbs breaking under the weight of the ice

I wish I had a wood stove right now.

The problem is that I live near the coast, so the snow tends to be wet and heavy, which, coupled with the projected heavy winds, seems like a recipe for a few very cold days ahead.
