i need to find a job or a new hobby. maybe i'll dust off my camera and start taking some photos. i used to be pretty passionate about photography, but i just kind of fell out of it. i love taking photos, but i hate retouching in photoshop, which you have to be able to do if you ever hope to sell anything.

 

That was an anomaly though, and it will be investigated and efforts will be made so that nothing like that happens again. In Haiti, people have already rebuilt houses/buildings with the same shit materials and construction procedures that got them into this mess.

Sadly, not as much as you'd think.

But it's a systemic problem - either too much poverty or too much growth. If folks are too poor, they can't afford properly engineered buildings. If things are growing too fast, it's not worth building things to last because in ten years they will be replaced anyway...

And in the meantime, some interesting shit happens. I guess.
