where you putting mulch and why exactly?....i'm asking because I can have all the mulch I want free at our town garage.....I hauled about a ton of wood for them to chip....they do it free as a make work project on slow days

what I really need is my driveway graded

The flagstone and brick patio I'm building in the front incorporates garden space so I'm mulching that... Rotted wood and bark is better than fresh wood chips for mulch. Fresh wood steals nitrogen from the plants as it tries to rot. Rotted wood adds nitrogen back into the soil. Most store bought mulch steals nitrogen as does regular wood chips. There's a whole composting cycle thingy going on there.

I studied and passed my city and guilds qualification in horticulture a long time ago,and was also doing well on a landscape gardening course until my first unfortunate nervous breakdown.I have also helped build a self-build conservation centre at a community garden here in London.I have worked professionally as a gardener but not for ten years or so,and have forgotten most of my horticultural knowledge to be honest. All I remember is hours of back breaking weeding.I am more fond of wild gardens. However I recently joined the Royal Society For The Protection of Birds and hope to do some conservation work with them this summer.

I hop on one foot sometimes and then proclaim the master of people hopping on one foot in my house.

not really but I might do that some day.

hubby mowed out back again, probably will need to again tomorrow on a lower setting, after it dries a bit more.

my woodchips are fresh, nitrogen stealing. im mitigating that effect by trying not to mix them into the soil, by having put them directly on top of grass that was trying to grow (so the woodchips "eat" the grass) and when i plant in them, i will be adding rich compost to the specific areas i am planting in, next year i will make my rows adjacent to this years rows. its a process. it may not even work. but it does make it so it doesnt need to be mowed, and even if i end up having to half-bury potted plants to make it look "nice" it will still be worth it to not have to lift the damn mower over a 3+ foot tall wall. plus i can plan trees for the front, and the berry canes and bee friendly bushes will still grow. i have back-up plans for my back-up plans, lol.

We have 4 free tickets. =p and we see Jurassic World in a few weeks when it comes out. The avengers isn't anything I'm interested in but it's the best there is. Maybe the mad max, but I think hopefully everyone has seen avengers so it's a quiet cinema.

I always carry a flask of rum in there but we are going to get a burger beforehand so I'll have a few drinks there. A smoke before we go. I'll be lit, then drunk.. adorable and cute. >.>

How come I keep traveling on planes that serve beans for one of their meals..

Is there really someone out there who thinks it's a great idea to serve a bunch of people sitting in a sealed tin can for 10+ hours a whole bunch of beans?

I always use pine needles as mulch when I'm doing flower beds...which I need to do now. But it won't be done tomorrow on my day off.

The son "broke" the rear end of his corvette (its a 2001) yesterday on his way here for his Sunday visit. He was shifting hard, and he said he pretty much knew when it happened. He added that if he couldn't drive his muscle car like he wants what's the point of having one. lol

So, he will be dropping at least 2 grand and possibly more :yikes: to fix it, he said...and that is with him fixing it, not taking it to a shop.

He has always done his own maintenance work on it, and this will be a big deal...and not done quickly.

So, he decided he needs to just get another car and the vette will be his "play car". Tomorrow on my day off, I'll be riding with him (in my car) to a close-by but much larger town where he is going to look at a BMW that is "reasonably priced". That is, if there is such a creature as a reasonably priced BMW.

Spending time with him and helping out, I quite enjoy...but driving in this horribly planned town that has relatively NO straight roads (but has lots of loops that go in no logical direction) is quite another matter...I may need psychiatric counseling after this...even though I will (eventually) be following him.

I am the most easily rattled person behind a wheel that you can imagine. lordhavemercy
