they had a money back guarentee which i had planned on using if they worked or not, so they will hopefully cost me nothing.

a lot of it is probably garbage, but 5-HTP has been shown to have beneficial effects.

the best thing i've found for energy is a smoothie with a bunch of blueberries, strawberries, a banana, a big scoop of greek yogurt (greek is best, lots of protein), some fish oil (with vitamin D), and orange juice. sometimes a little bit of coconut oil too...

i love food. homemade food always makes me feel good. sometimes you are time strapped and need boxed/ bagged stuff, but it never makes me feel good. but the smell of bread or pizza (from scratch) baking, or fresh veggies from the garden just gives me a boost.

speaking of gardens, im going to be planting amaranth. does anyone have any experience with it? and whats the best way to remove poorly placed trees? i have 4 pine trees too close to the sidewalk and the sewer line, plus 3 maples planted too close to the gas line. dont know who lived here before, but they werent very bright.

im not sure what you could use to knock out your cat. my black cat got scratched through his hide, it developed into an abcess. i have used a sleeve (like a sweater sleeve, a scrap from crafting) to immobilize my cats when i have to work on them. you could probably make a pain tea, but i dont know what you would use, or how much would be safe.

Yeah I agree about the guests lately.. like that Duesberg guy who was denying AIDS, wtf was up with that?? my favorite is Duncan Trussell, he's one of the few that can truly keep up with Joe and bring the deep intellectual conversations and bring the lulz'

of course I've been targeted by marketing, I certainly recognize that... we are constantly bombarded by marketing in every way, shape and form. I don't necessarily think its a bad thing; some of the coolest shit I've ever been turned on to has been because of clever marketing... in my opinion it only presents a problem when; you are being marketed deceptively, or the marketing is over-invasive and disrupting.

i spend a decent dollar on these things when you're comparing with other vitamins and shit... but money isn't an issue for me, so I'm not sweating 30 or 35$ whatsoever.... if I was on a budget maybe I'd reconsider my supplement choices, but fortunately I dont need to... all I know is I take it and it seems to help somewhat beyond a mere placebo effect..

I feel where you're coming from though man.... In general I hate the new-agey supplement/lifestyle movement, and theres a lot of bullshit and pseudo-science associated with it. However, that doesn't mean that everything that falls under that umbrella is junk science and should be discredited, theres a lot of good shit out there too... like I said, it could be BS in a fancy package, I'm no scientist... All I know is there seems to be a measurable difference in certain areas when I have it as opposed to when I dont have it...

but you're right if I was on an income, no way I'd drop that kinda money for "cognitive enhancers" lol

and did you really just suggest I stop smokin cheeb likes thats a realistic option? come on brotha, you know me better than that :sunny:

idk about the cat man... Vet is insane rip off though, I've left with 300$ bills when the vet did next to nothing. they know people love their pets and will go out of their way to make sure they stay in good health so I feel like they jack the price up just cause they know people will pay it... like most things I guess..

rolling- probably not an option where you are, but veterinary colleges sometimes do things on the cheap.

lately we've been getting into the habit of making huge batches of things like soup and stew, and then freezing mason jars full of it to eat later. it makes packing lunches for work/school a lot healthier. we just made a triple batch of this amazing butternut squash soup from squash grown by my sister's fiance's father.

for a while my wife was making homemade bread every weekend, but she's going to school for her masters degree and doesn't have the time anymore. i'm going to get her to teach me to make it, because storebought bread is awful compared to homemade.

i love my pets, but if i cant fix it, then it wont get fixed. if i had livestock it might be a little different, but only for larger livestock, goats and up. and even then it would be more for disease testing than anything else. i dont like to spend money on myself for doctor visits either. i have to be suffering some serious issues before i go in. and my pain tolerance is pretty high too, so even when i have a pain problem, it has to be incapacitating for several days before i will even consider seeing a doctor.

yeah i like trussell, although i've tried listening to his podcast and didn't really like it that much.

and i felt like they should have had someone else qualified on the podcast with duesberg to point out his ridiculous bullshit.

bread is fabulous. i learned my technique from clara on youtube (depression cooking with clara)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IEWJmm4Tms&feature=context-shows&list=SL"]Great Depression Cooking - Fresh Bread (Peppers and Eggs part 2) - YouTube

    http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Simple-White-Bread

the recipe i use is taste of home cooking's simple white bread, but i substitute some whole wheat flour. its something that people dont do often because they dont have the tactile knowledge in the kitchen anymore. jelly sheets off a spoon?add liquid until it looks like pancake batter? what does pancake batter look like? how do you know when bread feels smooth and elastic? practice!

if you like doing soups/ quick meals in mason jars, you might consider taking the next step and getting a pressure canner. then you dont eat up the real estate in your freezer.

i've read so many stories about botulism and home canning that i'm kind of scared of it. does a pressure canner eliminate that risk? maybe i should do some research.

like anything in the kitchen there are rules to follow. botulism grows in a low acid, anaerobic (no air) environment. canning forces the air out of the jar. so with low acid foods (lets say, canned chicken, or anything with mixed ingredients, like chili) you have to take an extra step. enter the pressure canner. pressure allows you to increase the heat enough to kill botulism, which can survive the temperatures in a water bath (not pressure) canner. when in doubt, or if you are extremely worried about botulism, pressure can a little longer at the recommended pressure. its just a difference in quality, it might taste a little overcooked. also, dont use old recipes for canning, or if you do, try to find a modern recipe to compare it to.

...3-4 years ago i was travellin each weekend to a friends farm in east ontario to haul water and party...we would get all fucked up and usually drunk too....

was always a sausagefest with 5 or 6 of us fawning over whatever girl happened to come along...none of us ever scored

we would bake giant 12 inch round weed cookies almost every weekend...we would feast and bbq and have fum....ride our atvs waisted and crash etc

these are people i known 40 years

    good times

many of the guests would bring their dogs and the dude that owned the property had a beaytiful tan pink nosed pitbull

so this one weekend another dude brings his dog which was pit crossed with doberman....fucking scary 70-80 pound dog...his owner was a great dude but lost his wife to cancer and now he did nothing but drink...

so there we are doing our usual festiveness and his dog comes limping out of the bush with a leg and face /mouth full of porcupine quills....big ones

it was sunday of a holiday weekend..closest vet is 150k away and will cost 500 buckd cause its a holiday weekend and the dog needed to be put out

owner knew he could take the dog the next day in toronto for 100 dollars...so the fucking dog is lying there whimpering and we are trying to comfort it.....7 quills were straight into the roof of his mouth with many more in his face and leg

my friend who lived there would pet the dog till he was calm and then with plyers he would yank a quill out....some were real easy but the dog was beginning to catch on and he was pissed

and we were high too which didnt help....we got most out but no way that dog was letting anyone near the 7 quills sticking out of his mouth by about an inch

one of the guests was also a care giver for old people...we knew she had a wack of pills she stole so it hit me...

i suggest we feed the dog valium to knock him out...everyone thought i was a genius...she went home and comes back with a bottle of 10s

i tell her to give me 15 and she balks...she thinks 5 will kill this dog and i think 50 would not kill this fucking crazy ass dog...we bicker and she agrees to give us 10 but we gotta start with 5 and we gotta promise...she leaves

we open more beers and roll doobs and eat more cookies and we put all 10 valiums inside a little tuna and we spoon feed the dog our mixture

    to be continued

surprise ending...if you remember please dont give it away
