I actually met Larry Hagman at a feed store in Ojai California back in the mid 90's. Not that this was some special deal. We both lived there, I was getting cat food and he was getting some stuff for his horses. We chatted some while waiting in the checkout line. Seemed to be a nice guy, quite unlike the characters he played on TV.

When my wife and I got back out to the car she asked me who that was because I seemed to know him. When I told her, she did the typical freakout people do when they meet someone famous... She was a weird one alright.

R.I.P. Larry, thanks for the laughs (I knew him as Major Anthony Nelson... Besides, Jeannie was hot, man...) Never did see him as Jr.

It's just half past 1:00pm where I am right now, but I've been up since about 5:00am or so which is quite remarkable for someone like me, who usually wakes up sometime in the afternoon.

It's been a week now since I started my methadone program, and I couldn't give them enough appreciation or credit for how much they've helped me with my struggle with drugs.

Methadone has given me confidence to go out and find work, and things that used to give me lots of anxiety, such as meeting new people, having an interview, or even going somewhere unfamiliar have all been something that I now have no issue doing. There were jobs that I wouldn't take simply because my anxiety would get in the way, like customer service, or anything that requires stepping out of my comfort zone. There's not to many employers that would hire someone like myself with these issues, and that's caused me to limit my options. Now that my stress and anxiety have been reduced so much, I have a larger selection of jobs that I feel okay applying for.

The biggest thing that methadone is helping me with is my financial difficulties. Every day that I would use opiates, I needed anywhere between $20-$80 for my fix. When I worked I would use everyday, and spend almost all my money on the drugs. I used so much that it got to the point where I would just use some to get rid of my dope sickness. In the last 3 years, since about the time my addiction started, I spent roughly $20,000 or more on pills. The rest of the money I made went to either marijuana, alcohol, coke, or other useless things that I would use just to get high.

Even though I've only been on methadone for a week, and I haven't even started working the job I got (Boston Pizza), I can assure myself that my checks will at least be going to something useful. I plan on giving 30% of my check to my parents, in order to pay them back for everything I cost them while I was an addict. I'm going to save 50% of my checks and keep it in the bank until I feel ready to move out, and the other 20% will be my spending money.

I'm hoping to start selling weed once I get settled in with my job, and feel comfortable enough with my finances. I've done it before, however the first time I sold weed, the majority of the profits I made were just used so I could smoke pot for free. This time around I'm gonna set a limit to how much I smoke (maybe a half gram per day), then keep the profits so I can continually buy bigger bulks of weed, which in turn will cost less and less per gram, so I'll be able to make more money.

The one issue I have with pot dealing is the sketchy character I have to deal with. Biggest mistake I made last time I dealed was showing people where I lived and worked, and I would have people coming to the door of both looking for dope. Once I had a guy come into my house while I was at work, used the phone and called me at working looking for pot, all while my parents were listening to his phone call to me. If anyone calls me I'm gonna meet them or just stop by their house, because it's too risky having people coming to your house or workplace as it will rasie suspicions amongst family, coworker, and your boss.

Last weekend I wanted to see how many consecutive joints I could smoke to myself, I smoked 7, and I wasn't even as high as I was last night. ohman.

and to maddhatter - you don't need methadone to get over anxiety (not even entirely sure what that is, but it sounds like meth, so i'm assuming it isn't all that great for you :D) because i know exactly how you feel, i have pretty bad anxiety as well, especially social anxiety.. And it took me a really long time to actually get up and apply for jobs, and when i did i was terrified, and then when i got hired the same day i was even more terrified! Because it was at a job that is alll about customer service.. And at first it was horrible.. but now it's been about 4 or so months later i believe? And i have a lot less anxiety and i'm a lot less shy... I deal with endless amounts of customers daily, having mini conversations, and even dealing with the upset ones,etc..

so you don't need drugs to give you that artificial confidence boost that means nothing in the end, you just gotta go out their and learn for yourself, it'll also feel a lot more accomplishing in the end im sure!

that being said.. maybe i'm in need of some methadone as well because i'm still a tad to nervous to go to school :D I'm supposed to pick my courses in 9 days.. but i have no clue whatsoever which courses i need to take in order to get into my program, so i need to call the school and make an apointment with one of the counsellors or something.. but.. i just cant lol..

edit - i just remembered i also need to go back to my old highschool to get a copy of my transcrips for proof of graduation sometime within the next few days as well.. And now here comes the anxiety lol :p

"Methadone is used to relieve moderate to severe pain that has not been relieved by non-narcotic pain relievers. It also is used to prevent withdrawal symptoms in patients who were addicted to opiate drugs and are enrolled in treatment programs in order to stop taking or continue not taking the drugs. Methadone is in a class of medications called opiate (narcotic) analgesics. Methadone works to treat pain by changing the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain. It also works as a substitute for opiate drugs of abuse by producing similar effects and preventing withdrawal symptoms in people who have stopped using these drugs."

and the power and glory of google is yours. now and forever.

also, root words are good to know, but methamphetamine, methadone, methane, methanol, methylamine etc are all different. Meth- itself is just CH3. ah, chemistry. so much fun.
