Do you have any idea how the CSA was run? It may not have met the standard definition of a true democracy, but it sure as hell wasn't a military dictatorship. When important political decisions had to be made in Richmond, I doubt if anybody ever asked Robert E. Lee's opinion on anything. He had zero input into writing the CSA constitution or any of its laws or policies. If you're looking for individuals to blame for the Civil War, start with Jefferson Davis, then his VP and cabinet, then the CSA legislature in Richmond, and then every governor and every state legislature in each and every state that voted to leave the Union. That's many hundreds of men who could have stopped all this before it began. Add their slave-owning financial supporters, and now we're well into the thousands of individuals who had more political input than Lee. Blaming Southern military men for the CW is just as crazy as going to the Pentagon and protesting against the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (whoever the hell that is now) because you don't like the policies of Trump. The Pentagon has nothing to do with it. Nobody is protesting at the Pentagon. I'm not so much pro-Lee as I am anti- free pass to racist scumbag politicians who aren't well known. Show me any great evil in the world, and I'll show you a group of amoral politicians who are making money from it. Lee had a hard decision to make in choosing between his loyalty to state and country. I personally disagree with the decision he made, but I understand why he made it, and I respect his decision. Otherwise, nearly everything he did in his life was nearly perfect. He loved Virginia with all his heart. It meant everything to him. Can you imagine going to war and fighting against Pennsylvania and all your relatives and friends?
The Confederacy used the U.S. Constitution except that it inserted clauses protecting slavery and allowed a line item veto by the President. It didn't allow states to seceded from the Confederacy. There were no political parties or Supreme Court. Travel within the Confederacy was not free as it required a passport. Lee was General in Chief of the Southern forces. I'm not looking for anyone to blame the war on, it happened. That doesn't mean anyone in the south had to support it. I'm not blaming Lee for starting the Civil War, I'm blaming him for joining it and abandoning his country and his duty as an officer in the United States Army. Lee put his state over his country. If everyone did that there would be no country. In any major dispute honest men and women must take a stand. If the Commonwealth of PA were to find itself in opposition to the U.S. government I would have to look into the reasons for that opposition. Same with my family and friends. If the U.S. government decided to institute slavery and PA opposed that act, I would have to stand with PA as I believe that would be a fundamental assault on humanity and contrary to all the United States stands for. Lee and the other Confederates did the opposite, they fought for slavery.
Yes I am saying that crimes committed by the left are equal and quite possibly have been more destructive since the 60s Left crimes, killing and bombing committed by left groups that the people who are left leaning and the media chooses to accept as justified or ignore because they are on the same side. I guess you forgot about the shooting of republicans recently at the baseball practice field! Or the cops shot during BLM and antifa protests calling for cops to be killed. the senators son who smoke bombed a parliament building hurt a woman by shooting fire works at her and carried weapons as he joined antifa clad in black and hiding his identity. This is just some recent events and there are a lot more. But let's look at some history of left groups Many of these bombs killed and of seriously injured people and many robberies also injured or killed people., there have been a lot of them Weathermen. On September 20, 1970, the group robbed a National Guard armory in Newburyport, Massachusetts and took 400 rounds of ammunition.[7] They also stole weapons and set fire to the facility, causing about $125,000 in damage. The group robbed a bank in Brighton, Massachusetts, carrying handguns, a shotgun and a submachine gun.[6] [9] The first police officer on the scene, Boston police officer Walter Schroeder, was shot in the back by Gilday when he attempted to stop the robbery.[2] He subsequently died from his wounds. The group escaped with $26,000 in cash, which they planned to use to finance an overthrow of the federal government.[2] Power was behind the wheel of one of the two getaway vehicles. The bomb was made from an electric blasting cap, an alarm clock, a battery and a plastic bag filled with gasoline and explosives.[9] February – The WUO closed the SDS National Office in Chicago, concluding the major campus-based organization of the 1960s. The first contingent of the VB returned from Cuba and the second contingent departed. By mid-February the bulk of the leading WUO members had gone underground. The bomb made with ten sticks of dynamite exploded in the NYC Police Headquarters. The explosion was preceded by a warning about six minutes prior to the detonation and subsequently by a WUO claim of responsibility.[14] July 23 – A federal grand jury in Detroit, Michigan, returns indictments against thirteen WUO members and former WUO members charging violations of various explosives and firearms laws. July 25 - The United States Army base at The Presidio in San Francisco is bombed on the 11th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.[12] [NYT, 7/27/70] On the same day, a branch of the Bank of America is bombed in New York. A warning was given around 10 min. prior to the 1:23 AM blast by the WUO. October 12 - Around October 12 eight bomb explosions occur, Five in Rochester New York, Two in NYC, and One in Orlando FL. Despite warnings three persons are injured, none seriously. The Weatherman never claimed responsibility for the bombings nor have they ever been linked to them. October 14 - The Harvard Center for International Affairs is bombed by The Proud Eagle Tribe of Weather (later renamed the Women's Brigade of the Weather Underground).[18] WUO claims this is to protest the war in Vietnam. Released on bond, this member again submerges into the underground. September 28 - ITT headquarters buildings in New York City and Rome, Italy are bombed. WUO states this is in response to ITT's alleged role in the Chilean coup earlier that month. Around October, 1973 the Government requested dropping charges against most of the WUO members. The requests cited a recent decision by the Supreme Court that barred electronic surveillance without a court order. This decision could hamper prosecution of the WUO cases. In addition, the government did not want to reveal foreign intelligence secrets that the court has ordered disclosed. 1974 March 6 - Bombing of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare offices in San Francisco. November - Five WUO members are arrested on conspiracy to bomb California State Senator, John Brigg's offices. The robbers were stopped by police later that day and engaged them in a shootout, killing two police officers and one Brinks guard, as well as wounding several others. want more? We can go on to the black panthers and the black liberation army which is simply to old name for black lives matter and the killings they have comitted,
And now there have been rallies all over in support of Charlottesville, especially a massive counter-protest in Boston. http://www.wbur.org/news/2017/08/19/photos-boston-common-rallies
Nice list. Want me to compare? If you wish to limit violence to a specific time period, I can do the same. If you want to look at the total amount of violence caused by right wing extremists such as racist and secessionists in relation to liberals, I'll just point to the 620,000 soldiers killed in the Civil War and the sieges and destruction of Fredricksburg, Vicksburg, Atlanta, Charleston, Petersburg, Columbia, Hampton, etc., not to mention the countryside and private homes. ColumbiaRichmond
Every important general from a Northern state sided with his own state, and the ultimate end result was a win for the US Army. Except for the border states Maryland and Kentucky, there were very few officer level state line crossovers. I can't believe how easy you're going on the Southern politicians.
Yes I think it is equal to, you went back to the civil war and I am not sure who you blame for these deaths? The republican abolitionists? Then you assume that the ones who were neo nazis in the 60s were republicans? You give one even as an example. I did not give a full list of acts committed by the left that killed people on this land. I just gave them from one group that was left leaning yet you justify all those bomb attacks, or disregard them, as if it is ok acts that people today were actually alive for. I suppose the death toll from the towers coming down was justified as well since antifa stands with the Islamic brotherhood as does BLM. Autophobe is an antifa member, as he stated elsewhere. His list of crimes supposedly committed by white supremacists republicans was full if lies as I pointed out. This is a prime example of lies that antifa spews to increase their numbers and cause more violence directed at republicans. Calling a man who was clearly brown skinned, with a Spanish last name , dark curly hair guy is a white supremacist.
There were nine Union Generals born in the South but raised in the North. There were eleven Union Generals born and raised in the South and in the Northern Army at the time of sucession, including Gen. George Henry Thomas, one of the best Generals in the North. There were eight Union Generals that were born and raised in the South and joined the Union Army at the outbreak of the war. There were five Union Generals that were born and raised in the South, moved North as an adult and joined the Union Army at the outbreak of the war. Some sources list 38 Union Generals born in the South. The discussion has centered round the statue of Robert E. Lee, not Jefferson Davis or any other politician..
LOL. Who do I blame for the deaths in the Civil War? The Confederates, pretty simple. Republican abolitionist didn't promote slavery, attack the United States and seceded from the Union now did they? :dizzy2: I assume the neo-Nazis in the 60's were Republicans? I think you are confusing terms. When I'm speaking of the right here, I'm speaking of the racist elements on the right who espouse racism, not every Republican in the U.S. There are left leaning Republicans, middle of the road Republicans, right leaning Republicans and racist Republicans in the world today. Many Republicans aren't racist or Nazis. I never said I support unnecessary violence. How did you manage to bring the 9/11 attacks into this discussion? I'm not autophobe, and I don't think he represents everyone in the antifa movement, so I don't see how his view has anything to do with everyone in the antifa movement.
The problem is to defend antifa, BLM and other alt left wing racist violent groups is to defend racism. The unite the right rally was not intended to be a racist rally. The organizer was actually an obama supporter prior to voting trump. An active obama supporter until he rejected the obama administration and their bias and disregard for the people as a whole. SPLC put the organizer on the racist list too. Antifa are just like autophobe in thinking and tactics of blaming white supremacy for the acts of ethnic looking people on white nationalists right wing racist people, even if the perpetrator is black and left. When they call for blacks only loving blacks, that is racist. Which BLM does. They blame their actions on the right, who antifa treat all right wing people, even middle of the road like they are racist. Even if you are left middle of the road you are the enemy and are considered right. I am not defending any racist and the actions of those groups. When top BLM members call black people white washed or anti black, that is racist. It is the same thing a white nationalist will do or think when seeing a white person with a black person I suppose, but again I have never encountered such people in today's society, white nationalists, but I have encountered racism from the alt left.
No one is defending violent actions initiated by anyone...period. The Charlottesvilles rally wasn't intended to be racist? Oh please! I've had enough.
Who were the scheduled speakers? Maybe it was but from my understanding none of the speakers were white nationalists or kkk members. Some very public racist figures refused to attend because Jewish people were scheduled to speak. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I have looked for a list of scheduled speakers but could not find one.
Although he didn't speak at the rally (it was terminated by the police due to the rally participants violating their agreement and inciting violence) Matthew Heimbach was instrumental in promoting the rally. He's chairman of The Traditionalist Worker Party which he started as The White Student Union. He has been convicted of 2nd degree disorderly conduct due to an assault on an anti Trump protester. Augustus Sol Invictus spoke. He claims to not be a racist but when he announced his Senate candidacy under the Libertarian Party, the chairman of the Florida branch resigned in protest. Baked Alaska spoke. Here are some lyrics from one of his songs: ..and I'm not looking up any more, just one is enough.
You can construct all the monuments you want and put them in your front yard. When you put them in a public place, you're imposing them on me. The media is "hyping up" the destruction of confederate monuments because the Nazis and KKK are, and are there with shields and clubs and helmets and guns, and it makes spectacular footage. Torchlight parades! People chanting "Jews will not replace us!" How could the media pass that up? And you think it was about monuments? The culture of the Confederacy was not a culture of freedom--at least not for the slaves, and people who want to keep it alive want to do so as a symbol of white supremacy. I lost my sense of pride when the Donald took office, and only his removal from office can bring it back. VICE will publish anything sensational. I think it's stretching it to say: "Robert E. Lee today, Rushmore tomorrow!" I personally don't give a rats ass about the monuments, but I do care about Nazis, and Klan and violence, and anything that feeds them.
To say that the torchlight parade of people chanting "Jews will not replace us" was not racist is delusional. I'd like to see you produce credible evidence (as opposed to right wing fake news) to back up your charge that "Antifa" and/or BLM have officially endorsed ISIS. Those are tales Fox News and Breitbart make up to scare children. That extensive list of incidents you provided earlier (post 203) indicates that you are either: an operative of some right-wing nut group or an "eccentric" yourself with way too much time on your hands. The noteworthy thing about it is that most of the incidents are a bit dated, and related to the civil rights movement and Vietnam eras. The sixties and seventies were turbulent times, and some of the radicals like Kathy Boudin surfaced later to cause mischief. It's a big country, with lots of history, and if you dig deeply enough through the dustbin with a single-minded interest in dirt, you could build quite a dossier. But the propaganda motive is obvious. Why would a Canadian have such an obsessive interest in our politics?
How I Became Fake News, I witnessed a terrorist attack in Charlottesville. Then the conspiracy theories began. An interesting article about how the man who posted the video of the car running down people at Charlottesville became the center of a conspiracy theory.
The rally organizer, a man with the last name Kessler organized the rally. Look him up. Even CNN are not calling it an alt right rally which is interesting and they spoke with the organizer. Acouple dozen, as CNN states, showed up chanting blood and soil and the entire rally is labelled a racist rally by some people.! I would have stayed clear of this even simply for the threat to people's lives and the left should have just left it alone and recorded what was said rather than speculating what was to come of this. Freedom of speech rally not organized by the alt right - is white supremacist according to the alt left Unite the right is racist according to the alt left. But and unity rally held by the alt left is not a racist rally. I don't get it.
Wow do you have more to add? Or is wow suppose to say a lot? It says more about you tbh, I am pretty sure people on this board have defended violence from the alt left saying it is not BLMs fault that people rioted and destroyed things. That is my point. I am far from defending hAatred or racism, I am completely Aagainst it. Wow! Aren't you? I see guilt on both sides of the extremists that attended. You think the entire right were screaming hatred? Seems like it, but you are wrong. What I said earlier about Kessler was true. The neo nazis are using him now as a possible scape goat and trying to discredit him for the violence that happened, sAying he is a left siupporter and pretended to be right. There is also talk, maybe evidence of people being hired to riot.
Jason Kessler formed the group Unity & Security for America to protect the West. It's aim was to provide body armor, funds, and microphones to pro right protesters. It claimed that a group of Jewish leaders escaped Nazi Germany and were now "eroding" Western values. It also supported a pro Confederate political candidate, Cory Stewart. They appeared together with members of the League of the South who want a white nationalist state in the South. The League of the South believes Confederates are an ethnic group. Kessler believes "Dixie" is being filled up with Yankee carpetbaggers. He has called an opponent a, "pavement ape", "jigaboo", and "pinko communist fag". He's been arrested for shoplifting, obstructing justice, failure to appear, numerous traffic violations, assault, and at the Charlottesville rally he was arrested for failure to obey an officer's command. In regards to the torch march he admitted it was intended to cause controversy. ?
