And now that you've contacted them, forget all the other ideas... Anything happens there, you will be the one they come to.

I wish you were here, too! Since I soooo don't want to get in any trouble (or rather get caught), I'm having to use all my courage and stealth (lol) just to run across the road in odd and varying hours of the night to feed kitty under the door.

God have mercy...I have now involved my 91 yr old mother in my once a 24 hr covert operation to get something to the cat. So far...so good.
Tonight as I was running to the door, I could hear her crying....as I poured the crushed food on the plastic, she was grabbing and pulling that plastic; but the only way that food could get in there was thru that teeny dip as I was pouring (fumbling, lordy mercy and dammit) the skim milk.
My Mama and I in black, sneaking to feed a cat. I guess I'm gonna need psychiatic help after this.

Yea I'm going to have to call Cat Hoarders and schedule an intervention. Sure I love my pets with all their shots and sich. But just feedin' varmits is one way to make 100 barncats out of 1. Pests are a vector for disease Mother Therese. Please remember the wise words of Bob Barker, "It's coming straight for us!"... no, "Lynnbrown, Come on down!" or was it to "Please remember ... to spay or neuter your pets!"

[CLICK] don't you hate telemarketers? I resort to posing as the regional communist headquarters to thwart their capitalistic fascist imperialism.

But to be polite mate, I was trying to raise awareness about human shepherding or husbandry of domestic animals, that are to become pets. Wish you a spoonful of sugary sarcasm and dry wit to help the medicine go down my dear chap.

    cherrio rcable :2thumbsup:

PS, I'm an American and would have broken the animal free with my bare fists by now if no one else had taken action.

Thanks Glen, and to you, too rcable (I think :))...for if this situation resolves well, I can promise you not only will that cat be kept here; but it will also be fixed.
ALL of our females are fixed. Not all of our males are, tho'.
We don't know what cat is trapped....we just think it is a black bob-tailed cat I called BB (very tame) that was suddenly not around anymore. Had she continued to be present and accounted for, by this point, we would have already made an appt for her to get spayed.
All our cats have up-to-date rabies shots, we are responsible, and Bob Barker's advice is certainly not needed here.

Damn. What kind of of shit place do you live in. I can't believe that there isn't someone at some TV station that wouldn't take up this cause. or a politician? If I lived there ,I can say for sure the cat would be out and the jack=ass would be offered a chance to kick my ass if he thought he wanted to take a shot at it. That son of a bitch.

Asshole guy or not... now that she has tried to make it a public thing, she cannot take any direct action that breaks the law.

About the only thing left to do is to offer the guy cash to let you get the cat out...

Every time you go on that property, you are breaking the law, and he can easily have you charged and from the sounds of it, would.

This is one of the biggest issues I have with the way the legal systems are set up. If you try to do the 'right' thing, and they refuse to take action, you have just singled yourself out to get caught and treated as the bad guy if you go ahead and do the right thing afterwards...

It encourages the good to site quietly and do nothing for fear of being labeled as a criminal for doing the right thing.

I wonder if she broke in,let the cat out,got arrested and went to court along with the prick that acts so much like an animal abuser--what would a judge think about a person that wouldn't respond to a simple request to save a stranded animal from dying. When all he had to do was let her in for a short time to get the cat out. There must be someone with some empathy around there.

even if "someone" broke the door....no one could prove who it was (as long as theres no cameras) and any frivolous charges would be dropped by the time it got anywhere near a judge

Guys, I live in upstate SC, and nobody in authority gives a crap about animal abuse, neglect, etc - except if you smoke a joint, THEN they get concerned. Empathy from anyone in law enforcement is shunned.

Chronic Tom really had it right about the sorry legal system, around here anyway.

However, my mama and I will continue on our covert feeding missions until we hear no more cat, or cat is released - and at this point I truly think that divine intervention is all that is gonna work.

It does help to know that I am not crazy to want that cat out - and that there are states in this USA where this kind of crap would not be allowed to blithely go on. SC sucks. But hearing from all of y'all has somehow helped me as I've been (mostly) encouraged to Yes, Do Something.

^^^I sooo agree. Only I really don't think I have the physical strength to break it open. It's a steel door, with a Big padlock and a locked door. I've broken both wrists thru the years, have a little arthritis, yada yada...getting older sucks, especially when you want to be ninja strong!

    OK....some deviousness is needed:devil:

Ring the cops and say you've smelled dope coming from the apartment....

Put a smoke bomb under the door, and ring the fireys and say you think someone is inside and theres a fire....

Give me time, and I'm sure I;ll come up with some more.

you are funny and bad and I like it. :2thumbsup:

I can barely fit a piece of plastic and slowly pour liquid under that door - I'm knowing a smoke bomb wouldn't fit...but somehow I'm grinning anyway.

They (authorities) know it's not an apartment; but just a storage bldg that used to years ago be a working garage. And if I said I smelled anything, they'd probably ask me if it was me?!? j/k but not really

Hate to use the term militant but I am going to. Do you not have any militant animal rights groups in or around your area that maybe you could contact.

We have some around here and they just barge in and worry later. Usually nothing happens as it happens so fast there is not time to even call the police. They stay rather anonymous around here.

Maybe you could try something like that.

Heather, that really does sound quite interesting. But I know of nothing in or even around this area...would the internet have something like this? hell, with my luck, I'd probably wind up contacting and working out something with an undercover youknow

pm me a good idea of where you live, town etc. I will have a look around for you if you like. They can't say much to me, I don't live there. ;)

Edit: We had someone around here who was abusing horses. 6 of them. A team showed up with trailers and they were gone before the police could show up. No plates on the trucks or trailers and the horses are in good homes. ;)
